I too am working on cutting back on sugar - which is definitely my weakness. By cutting back I mean that I want to allow myself the occasional treat, but I know that I eat way too much. Reading I have done says that sugar is addictive and like a toxin in our bodies. So that is my main motivation. I too want to make dark chocolate my stand by since it does have benefits in small doses. I make my own treats with finely chopped pecans and walnuts mixed with melted dark chocolate. That gives me some thing sweet that I can feel ok about eating.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.
It is never too late to be what you might have been.
Thank you for reminding me about the almonds. I think sometimes we forget there are healthy options. it makes it so much harder trying to go cold turkey from everything that is familiar-the bad things that got us in our current condition. Our support of each other is what will contribute to our success!

I started my venture from reading a diet book that showed me how food was related to things happening in your body. the first thing I did was try to eliminate sugar all together as much as I could. I do read labels even though it takes a little time till I get use to it. not having sugar has eliminated the hard cravings I had for a candy bar everyday. it eliminated eating all the brownies I made, etc. I have gone 2 months, 13 days without any of those sweets. I do have 10 almonds covered with dark choc(10) and they satisfy me plus they seem to make me drink more water. you all can do this. there are so many things you can do to adjust recipes or buy things good that are better for you. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE pulling for everyone.
