I find that a late morning snack of some walnuts and raisins is helpful. The raisins have a little sweetness and the walnuts have a bit of staying power for hunger. I measure it out: 14 grams of walnuts and 10 grams of raisins, just a little handful, and throw it in my lunch bag. It's better than some of the granola bars, which have way too much sugar (or candy, cookies, etc.)

I just gave up most things I love. Candy is my crutch so I have been avoiding it. My little one gave me 2 pieces of his candy. I took one and gave the other to the hubby. Worse is seeing all the cookies in the house, I'm the only one trying to make this change. I fear for the holiday feast and pies that are coming to the house.

Well, first, I'm glad I have this challenge because it's been a good anchor to my habit building. i've learned that I do not make good food decisions when I'm tired (duh!!) Heck, I can't even remember what my goals are when i'm tired. All I want is something to eat, and something full of sugar or carbs goes to the top of the list. I need to come up with a few 'safe' treats for those moments, but for now, i'm just saying 'no' - no wiggle room, no compromises, no excuses. Just 'no'. I brushed my teeth early one night, and that helped. Tea is good, too, though it takes time to make, and that time is spent in the kitchen, which is a hazard zone when I'm in a snack frenzy.
I did cave in and have a few handfuls of honey comb cereal today. I thought it was probably better than the graham crackers or ice cream, but still had the sweet crunch I was looking for. They have vitamins, too, since they're cereal...not great, but a lesser of the evils I was faced with. I really need a trip to the store so I have good snacks on hand...
That was my only cave for the week so far, so I'm happy.
Hanging in, and happy to be making some small changes...
