Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

I'm a new member, I liked, and learned, from your replies....my biggest challenge, is when I lay in bed and can't' sleep right away. It seems I have to have something to eat so I can get to sleep, carbs of course.

I have a few things I use and it is: 1. only snack I can have after dinner or while I am making dinner are veggies 2. After dinner I can only have fruit or veggies snacks up to 7:00pm. 3. At 7:00pm I go in and brush,and floss teeth and only thing allowed after that is plain water. Maybe some of these will work for you? if they do let me know which ones so if someone else asks I can know what to recommend. You can do this healthy food choice thing so do not give up
Dia... welcome. Some people can get through the evening without a snack but I can't. I plan something that is sweet but does not set off my craving cycle. The things that work for me to substitute are blueberries, baked apple, a fruit smoothly or a low carb peanut butter bar that is mostly protein. It helped me to have more protein during the day so I don't craze sweets. I also go to two SMART meetings a week to work on my habits and behavior. the meetings are free. The Spark People site is also a wonderful source of inspiration. If I can maintain my motivation, it is easier to give up the sweets. I keep thinking of my goal and how I will look and how I will be able to move when I get there.(I have lost 17 pounds and have 30 more to go) Good luck and try different things until you find your own solution.

So this is week one and I have been tracking my sugar. It seems I have two major times when I really slip up. These are around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and at night once I'm home. Any suggestions on how to handle the nighttime sugar craving? I have found a sub that works for the afternoon one--at least for now : ) I would really like to lose weight and prevent disease which is why I have decided to try to tame the sugar intake. Thanks
