Well I have been using the SparkPeople app on my cell phone since January when my fitness adventure began. Tracking my calories every day has been an eye-opening experience and I have learned so much - starting from identifying how to monitor carbs and protein to setting mini goals for daily activity in order to burn calories.
I just started this challenge and am looking forward to learning about how to curb those cravings.
I am an emotional eater - I eat when I'm bored, stressed, tired, upset - but I have been able to identify these triggers. I still struggle, especially during special occasions and holidays but if I indulge in something sweet I eat very little of it and I can also walk away.
My weight loss is not going to happen overnight but I am meeting my daily goals when it comes to carbs, protein and fat (I never go over) - I exercise 6 days a week (intense training 3-4 times a week) and listen to my body (if I'm tired, I take it easy and do not push myself).
Will I struggle? Absolutely. I'm only human so I'm not going to beat myself up if I indulge every once in a while, as long as I stay focused and keep myself on track. If I start to find myself wandering into dangerous territory and getting back to my unhealthy eating habits then that's when I will kick myself and get back on track.
