It is more than just mother's intiution.. Yes, mothers share a special bond with our children but you are very sensitive and it is just your gifts. Once you acknowledge all of your gifts then things will become clearer and pieces of the puzzles will fit.

I have a question - there have been times when my kids are out and just when I start to wonder where they are or if I pick up my phone and go to text them - they walk in the door. Is that just intuition or what? It happens on many ocassions and it only happens with my kids. So I'm thinking mother's intuition perhaps????

Qi Gong is really good for people who can no longer do yoga....Spiritually, it's really good, and it's gentle exercise, but it still gets your blood moving around, and in particular moves the energy around in your body.
I recommend this for anyone who is having troubles. like me, I cannot bend my knees,well not that much, certainly cannot kneel for any length of time, and cannot get up off the floor, in any case!! lol

Ask Ann, (beachlovr) she knows all about it first hand.

I can give you a link, if you like, to the guy I get my basic moves from, (cannot yet afford the full course, but working on it). or you could try Chunyi Lin, he is Ann's teacher, lucky her.

I hope you can find something to do, as it keeps you fairly supple.

Sylvia - I still havent tried the lotus position - but I do tend to meditate where ever I am at the time - in my computer chair, my favorite chair in the living room, or in bed. LOL!!
I only wanted to try the lotus because of the chakra alignment I had read about. I think I can manage my own version of this , but not for long!
I can still do some of the yoga positions, though not as well as I used to be able to do - I was completely into Yoga before I developed RA ( and gained all of this extra weight) - I always loved it and the feeling it gave my body and soul.

Hey, Shirley, you don't have to sit on the floor in Lotus position to do any kind of meditation. You can sit on a chair in front of your Computer, or lie on your bed, or sit in the armchair, as long as your spine is reasonably straight & your feet are on the floor.
There is no way I can sit on the floor, as it takes me about 10 minutes to get up off the floor, unless someone helps me...plus I can no way adopt Lotus position...ever....I never have been able to, my knees won't let me....I have arthritis, but as long as I don't abuse my body, such as trying to sit in Lotus position, or doing yoga....we manage to live in harmony, I tried yoga poses in the 70's, & I couldn't manage it then, I am very flexible except in my knees....
So, rest easy, dear friend....just make sure your spine is reasonably straight, and your head nice & loose, but level & it should be ok....if you feel your head drooping forward, just remember to breathe, and gently bring it back to level....your breathing can get very shallow, if you let it, but just every so often, remember to breath....not hard, just a little more than being passive...if you know what I mean....you do your 3 deep breaths, at first, letting them out with a big sigh, in through the nose, out through the mouth, then just put tongue behind front teeth & breathe in & out through the nose...
If that doesn't make sense, let me know....

Angelhealer- thank you ! I find that a lot of this I already do, but there are also a lot of things you listed that are new to me or that you have reminded me of!
I just started reading a book yesterday on aligning our Chakras - I read that we have Chakras above our head too! Something I have never heard before! I am going to try this - that is if I can sit on the floor in some kind of lotus position - that will be really hard for me as I am really stiff and out of shape, or course the real trick will be finding a way to get up from the floor!! LOL!!!

I have been using a meditation for clearing my aura.. However, you can try these simple tricks..

Aura Cleansing Techniques
There are many aura cleansing techniques. (If you don't already have some favorites, you'll probably develop them.) However, here are some suggestions. Some of them are so simple and healthy, there's just no reason not to try them!

1.Drink a glass of water--filtered or spring water, if possible. Make sure you drink approximately 9-12 cups of pure water a day.


2.Take a warm bath in which one cup or more of salt--preferably sea salt--has been dissolved.


3.Spend five minutes breathing deeply into the lower third of your lungs, so that your belly rises with each inhale and falls with each exhale. As you inhale, feel the clean air restoring and refreshing and renewing your body and energy field. As you exhale, feel your body and field being cleared of unwanted and negative energy, and anything that doesn't serve you anymore. Out with the old, in with the new!


4.Wear a favorite color--one that makes you feel great. It may relate to a color that you need more of in your aura, or a color that needs to be clarified. (Read more about aura color meanings here.)


5.Get out into nature. Sunlight is a natural energy purifier. A walk in a forest or desert is naturally calming and cleansing to your energy field. The beach, with its salt breezes, is especially good--but standing in any wind, or bathing in any natural body of water, has a cleansing effect.

If you can't get out of the city, find a place that allows you access to sun and fresh air, such as a park or a roof-top. Breathe nature in and let it calm and refresh you.


6.Make an aura cleansing spray out of spring water and a cleansing essential oil such as lime, lemon, or juniper. In a spray bottle, mix a few drops of essential oil in a cup or so of spring water. Shake it up and spray it toward yourself from arms length (avoiding your eyes, of course!).


7.Smudge yourself with a sage stick. To do this, it's easiest just to purchase a smudge stick at a natural health foods or "new age" store--although if you have a large sage plant, you can make your own by gathering and drying sage leaves, them bundling them together and tying them tightly with a natural-fiber cord.

In a fire-safe place, light the end of it and blow out any flame so that there are just a few embers burning and creating a small amount of smoke. Wave the smudge stick around your body from head to toe, allowing the sage smoke to purify you.

It's common for burning bits of sage to fall to the ground, so be sure you do this in a safe place.

8.Crystals are great aura purifiers. Crystals traditionally used for this are smoky quartz, obsidian, selenite, or black tourmaline, but any crystal that you feel drawn to will do.

You can just carry one with you or wear it around your neck, or keep one at an altar or at the head of your bed.

If you're feeling the need for something more powerful, lie down and place the crystal on your brow, between your eyebrows and a little above. Relax, breathing deeply and comfortably, and imagine a white, purifying light emerging from the crystal and surrounding your body in white light.

Or, sweep the crystal repeatedly through your energy field, head to toe, with the intention that it will absorb any negative or foreign energies.

Always clean your crystals afterward by soaking them in salt water (preferably sea salt).


9.Light--imagined or real--is a classic aura cleanser. Lie or sit comfortably. Relax and breathe deeply and comfortably for a few minutes, allowing your body to relax and unwind.

Imagine your body completely filled with white light. Visualize the white light purifying and restoring your body, and displacing any negative or foreign energy. Give yourself time to enjoy this feeling.

Expand the light beyond your body, as many times as necessary until it extends a foot or two beyond your body--or where-ever feels intuitively right. Visualize or feel it purifying and restoring your field, and displacing any negative or foreign energy, pushing it out into the universe, where it will be neutralized and reabsorbed into the cosmic field. Give yourself time to enjoy this feeling.

Meditation & relaxation Exercise

This simple exercise aims to relax any physical tension and stress .

* First get your self comfortable, select something to lay on, make sure it is not to soft or hard, roll up three towels, place one under your knees, the small of your back, make sure it is not to high and that it does not create an arch in your back, although it must give you support, and the last towel is placed under your neck.

* Make sure the room is quiet and warm, your clothes must be loose and comfortable.

* Now, take a deep breathe and while holding the breathe in, tense every muscle in your body as hard and tight as you can, increase the tension as much as you can, then breathing out, relax totally. Wait a few seconds, and repeat the process, focus on the words Let go, Relax. Do this up to four times.

You will feel your body sag as the tension releases, there will be a pleasant sensation of tiredness.

What great dialogue and information here.. I just love it.. There are exercises for cleansing your aura, However, before you go to see anyone for whatever reason, please center yourself and ask yourself should I see this one person and trust your gut..

Sylvia, thanks for all of the great information and the sites - I will check them out. I am doing the the Deepak Chopra meditations now- but not every day, I am going to start making that a priority. I used to listen to meditations ( from my mp3) at night , but I usually fell asleep in the middle, and wasnt sure if this was good - being that "trance like" state, was I leaving myself "unprotected, ungrounded?"
Thanks for the info about putting a crystal between myself and my computer - are you talking about a quartz crystal ? And I will check out Jettas information about protecting my energy/aura. We do have a woman who comes into our one metaphysical store here and will read and cleanse your aura - maybe I should do that?

Shirley, why don't you do some guided meditations? If you have an MP3 player, you can even download them and listen with headphones, as I do....a lot of sites that charge for their guided meditations, also have some free ones, to get you started....Here are some links I used when I first started, when I no longer went to structured classes.

There are heaps here, you can just sit in front of your computer, close your eyes, do your deep breathing, and listen....if you have headsets, you can use them, but not necessary, if you are on your own at home....I hope you have some Crystals between you and your Computer, too, to absorb any negative energy. Be sure and cut off any negative energy you may have inadvertently taken on, after reading of others' problems.

Learn how to protect your own energy/aura........but, I'm guessing you either already know how to do it, or know where to look for this....look at Jetta's site, she has lots of free information on how to do lots of things of this nature....plus some links to guided meditations....

Please, Shirley, if I can be of any more help, just ask....This is why I am on SP site, to help people with things of this nature........and am so glad to be or service, wherever and whenever I can.

Look after yourself, you just need to be actively meditating, preferably once a day, even if only for 15 minutes.

I do love to sit out on the deck and just listen to nature and relax - I believe that is a form of meditation., problem is its just too hot here right now to do that. So I will try just sitting in my favorite chair in the living room and listen to my breathing.

I know it is hard to learn to meditate or to find time to do it but we maybe getting to wrapped up to having a formal class or training. Meditation is only quieting your mind to listen to your inner light.. You can meditate by taking a walk or just sitting at your favorite place and just breathing..

I also searched for a meditation group with little success and then decided to just listen to Meditation podcast during my commute to work and it has done wonders, especially since I can rarely quiet my mind to do a proper mediation but with time I am getting better. Just find your quiet place and just relax, it will all work to your advantage.

Sylvia, I am aware of that we" create our own reality" - but something keeps holding me back from really taking the time to work on this- not sure if it is something within me or outside me that keeps holding me back.
I would love to join in with a meditation group, but the only ones I can find locally are thru workshops, and they charge a fee. We are a very small town here, and I dont know anyone else here that meditates, I would start my own group , but dont feel that I have the knowledge, awareness to do this on my own. Do these sound like excuses ??? maybe they are - I feel so "foggy" headed lately, its hard to think anything thru clearly.

Shirley, you know by now that you have the ability to be/know/do any of the things you want to, by creating your own reality....what would you like to be able to do? Next time you meditate tell your higher self "I am ready, please open the door". Then start practicing....
Maybe you should try to join a meditation circle locally, which also is dedicated to advance you spiritually, and develop your Psychic abilities? Try Googling your suburb, Town, and ask if there are any such places there, or near there....

When are we gonna get lesson #3? This is a great thing, makes us think, reminds us that we can do this, but it takes practice.

Thanks for starting this topic, Angel Healer .....hope you can find time to expand on it.

I never thought about being being able to guess the time as being a "psychic ability"- I have been able to do this for a long time now. I just always thought it was interesting how I could do that- but never connected it that way. Makes me wonder if I have other abilites that I dont know about - hmmmmm!!!!!!

Thanks for the new lessons....I've never tried to guess the time, but I can see that it would be a great exercise....but I frequently ask before I go to sleep that I be woken up at whatever time, usually about 10 minutes earlier than I want to be, so I can wake up, and I can see properly...lol....
I will now do that exercise, it might focus my mind better, as I am having problems with 'receiving' when doing Intuitive readings........

what is a good basic starting meditation? I have a very busy mind and it's hard for me to just sit in silence and focus without it wondering off.

Exercise #2: Knowing the time

One way to start developing your psychic ability is to start guessing the time. Discard your watch as much as is practical and when you need to know the time, close your eyes and ask yourself what the time is. See if a time pops into your head and if it is accurate. It’s best to go with the first thought that comes into your head (it’s not good to even think about this – you need to trust the very first thought you have almost before your conscious mind starts operating.) It can be uncanny how accurate this can be – right down to the minute.

Even though you may feel unaware of time passing, at certain points in your day, your higher self can tap into the time and calendar anyway and let you know the time.

Another way to develop an awareness of your inner clock is to set an intention to wake up at a certain time. It is perhaps best to do this on weekends when you don’t necessarily need to get up.

Here’s what to do:

1. Choose the time you want to wake up (Note: depending on your personality, you might want to choose a time that is reasonable for you – for example, if you never get up before 8am but intend to get up at 6am for the sake of this exercise, you might sabotage yourself if you’re very tired and you like sleeping in. If your true desires do not align with your intention, your higher self might automatically substitute the real time you want to get up.)

2. Then tell your higher self that you want to get up at that time and ask for your higher self to wake you up at this time. For example – 8am. To strengthen the intention, you might want to give your reason why.

3. Don’t set your alarm.

4. See what time you wake up.

I've been practicing this one for years, even before I was actively seeking Spiritual enlightenment. I didn't know about meditation then, and would just close my eyes & picture the person;s face & ask them to 'come visit' or 'please phone' . I had about a 80 % success rate. Nowadays, I only have to think of my bestie, & she will ring me within 24 hours....It's just practice. And intent, of course...

Exercise #1: telepathic messages – get someone to call you

1. Decide on somebody you’d like to get back in touch with, or someone that you do not speak to on a regular basis. This is preferably someone with whom you have a rapport and some kind of ongoing friendship.

2. Begin by doing a breathing exercise – breathe in to the count of four, hold your breath to the count of four and exhale to the count of eight. Repeat two more times.

3. Close your eyes and see a movie screen in your mind’s eye (the mind’s eye is what you see when you try to visualize something – for example, visualize the face of a loved one – and it shows up in your mind’s eye.)

4. Then visualize yourself standing in a big park, on a large green lawn, holding seven balloons, of the colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and indigo. Let the balloons go one by one, beginning with the red balloon. Watch them float up to the blue sky until they disappear before you release the next one.

(If you’re not used to visualizing, then this exercise could be quite difficult for you at first. You may find it hard to concentrate or it may be difficult for you to visualize vividly or in colour. It all depends on how developed your imagination muscles are.)

5. Then get rid of the balloons. Now see a cinema screen in your mind’s eye. In one corner of the screen, see a telephone. In the other corner, see your friend. See your friend picking up the telephone happily and asking you how you are. See yourself enjoying a conversation with your friend.

6. Do this once a day for five days, at the same time and see what transpires.

It seems we need to get back to basics and start practicing using our gifts. So let's challenging ourselves.

Exercises for development:

1. Attuning with the white light - Practice every morning imagining that you are encompassed with a beautiful white light. Imagine the white light falling all around you and forming a protective circle around your body. Become familiar with this white light until you make it your own. Over time you will learn to work with this white light for protection, healing and awareness.

2. Attuning the chakras - With this exercise imagine the colors of the chakras on your body. Starting with violet for the crown chakra, moving to indigo for the third eye, then blue for the throat, and green for the heart, yellow for the solar plexus, orange for sacral and red for the base chakra. Become attuned and familiar with these colors and from there you can learn to balance them.

3. Build a psychic shield - When one starts to use and work with their psychic energy, it becomes necessary to build a personal psychic shield. We don't want out energy to be drained by others or any negative influences to penetrate our psychic energy. Imagine a shield surrounding your body of radiant white light. Ask this shield of white light to protect you from any negative or intruding energy. Ask that only positive, uplifting energy be allowed through.
