Never heard of the Christmas pickle before but it sounds like it would be a great tradition to start if you have young children or a newly found family that would enjoy being involved in something that takes time and patience and prolongs the mayhem that usually happens on Christmas morning.
be authentically you... it's journey, not a one day hike.
I love the story but never heard if a pickle ornament It's not a tradition taken from England with the emigrants. I have a Swiss daughter in law . Their children have both Swiss and English traditions. That's very nice I think. Ree

The Christmas pickle is not an actual pickle, it is simply a Christmas ornament that is shaped like a pickle. The ornament is hidden on a family's Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, all of the children in the house take turns looking for the pickle ornament and the child who finds the Christmas pickle receives an extra present for his or her good work.
Today, parents love this tradition because it encourages children to take the time to appreciate all of the beautiful ornaments on the Christmas tree. Instead of simply rushing to open their presents, they spend time talking about the unique history of all the holiday decorations. Do you have a pickle for your tree.
