Hi! I have been keeping very busy in the office with all the
crop insurance claims and now, checking out drug plans for
all the senior citizens to make sure the coverage they have is
what they can afford and still get the meds they need.

It has been such a long time since I was on here. Life just seems to get so busy for me. I was out of town, several family members have been hospitalized over the past few weeks, but I'm hoping things will settle down. I always hope that, but with Christmas coming, and after that going to India, then my daughter and her family coming to stay with us for a few weeks, I am not sure that things will get any easier!

How are you? What all are you doing?

Any loss, however small, is a success! Keep working at it
and give yourself a pat on the back for all the effort you are
putting into this.
The fair is over and we are home. Now the fun of washing
all the dirty laundry and putting everything back into storage.
It was hot, fun and I logged 9 miles of walking each day. We
entertained the GC, each pair getting to stay one night with
us in the camper. We were on the go all the time. I think we
wore them out LOL!

Oh my! you have been very busy! My daughter moved from California, and is going to school near here, so we have coffee every morning together and I have been enjoying some time with my grandson. Only 4 months until I leave for India. I can hardly wait!

My daughter eats very healthily, and we occasionally exercise together, so it's been good having her here, and I've lost an insignificant amount, but at least I am not going in the wrong direction!

The challenge in the last 2 weeks has been getting the last
year of 4-H done, entering the chickens in the State Fair,
helping DS get to his last Performing Arts venues and of
course, pack and get off to college. The biggest challenge
has been trying to eat right and in that, I have succeeded.
We did attend a wedding and the reception was fantastic,
just enjoyed eating a little too much LOL!

Hi! I have been out of town. We took off with our camper to Indiana to attend a Fireworks convention. It was a lot of fun. My husband's hobby is making fireworks, so every year we go to this convention and have a wonderful time. I walked a lot, but we also ate out a lot, and I gained 4 lbs. Discouraging, but today I am ready to get back on track. We came home yesterday afternoon, and I did a few loads of laundry and unpacked the camper, so I am ready for real life to begin again!

It was surprising how much we got to see and explore every
time we went. The last trip was with SIL, BIL and MIL for 5
days and we were the tour guides LOL!. DH was amazed
at what I all remembered from the very first trip. We went
walking in Honolulu and I directed us to the first hotel we
ever stayed at. I could still recognize all the landmarks from
20 years before. Now, I think I could get lost. No plans to
go back any time soon.

I had a nice visit this morning with my mother who will be 91 in a couple of weeks, and later I talked to my Aunt who is in her late 80's. Such a blessing to visit with two sweet and positive women who have lived life so fully, and still have a great sense of humor, still so ready to help others as much as they can.

How wonderful to go to Hawaii five times. Were you able to do much to see the area when you were on company trips?

It always take me a while to catch up after a trip. Hubby and I are going to be taking a camping trip, leaving in about a week. I am a bit overwhelmed trying to get ready for that.

I've been trying to walk a mile in the morning before it gets hot, then, in the afternoon go to my physical therapist's gym and work out on the machines, getting some good cardio on the reclining elliptical machine. In the evening, I do the stretches and other exercises the therapist taught me to do. But it seems that every 3-4 days, my body just says, "ENOUGH" and I need to have a day of rest. So, I slept in. But, today is cooler, so I might get my walk in today anyway. I'll still do the exercises, but intend to take a nap!

I have been to Hawaii 5 times (4 company trips) so hold him

WOW! 55 lbs is a lot to lose. Congratulations!

I need to get down to 165 to have lost 50. When I do, my hubby said he will buy one of those fancy dress mess suits to wear to the military ball. (Although there is some talk about the military doing away with them) So, that's my first goal. But when I reach that, I'm heading for 135, which is an 80 pound loss. For that, I get a vacation from my hubby. I've never been to Hawaii, so am thinking that would be great. If I loose 100 lbs, and am down as low as I should be, (115) I am still thinking about what reward I want for that! Next summer my daughter and son in law are going to walk the El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) Starting in France and walking through Spain. I would love to do that someday, but don't know if my back would take it. The path they would like to do is about 500 miles. up and down trails in the foothills of the mountains.

Today I walked my little route around the neighborhood. I walk at a slow pace, less than 2 miles per hour, and I walk on a flat surface. But that's an improvement from when I was just walking down the hall to the bathroom using a walker!

I lost 55 pounds but am maintaining the 50 pound loss
as my doctor was concerned about getting below that.
His argument made sense. It sure feels good to be able
to be move active and have less trouble with my knees
and back.
The trip was fun but now it is time to get back to work
and see what transpired over the weekend. VM is such
a slave driver LOL!

Congratulations MsLzzy!

I was able to walk around the block today, and I did it in 29 minutes. Previously my best time was 36 minutes. That's mighty slow walking. But almost 6 months ago, I had back surgery and couldn't walk at all without help.

In January I'm going back to India, and I want to be able to walk normally by then.

this past week has been kind of broken as far as sticking to my diet and exercise plans. My back has been really stiff and sore, death of a friend, and a few other challenges seemed to hit this week. Monday, my hubby and I are planning to go camping. I am only going to bring healthy food along, and there will be nice, shady places to walk. We are both hoping for some relaxing, non- stress days in our little camper! One really GOOD thing this week, I walked completely around the block yesterday, something I have not been able to do since my surgery.

I had a wonderful time in New York. The Wedding was perfect! It was also great to meet the bride's family and friends. After the wedding my husband and I joined my cousin, my daughter and her family for a trip to Niagara Falls. I did a lot of walking while there! Eating nutritiously wasn't always easy, but I'm back home, now and ready to get back on track in everything. I am truly very blessed!

This morning when I went for my walk, the little neighbor girl came to walk with me. She's 8 years old and very sweet. I thought it was so kind of her to take the time for this old lady!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I have declared my independence from gluttonous habits, knowing that the battle for that is not going to be easy, but I'm determined to be successful and victorious!

Today the festivities for the wedding begin to ramp up, with all the packing, instructions for the house-sitter, etc. and I will be leaving tomorrow morning for New York for the wedding, so this will be my last post for a few days.

I am hoping to get in some walking while I'm gone, and to eat reasonably and responsibly, and to have lots of fun!

Thank you, MSLZZY!

This morning I walked 3/4 of a mile. I walked it very slowly, because of the back surgery I had a few months ago, but two months ago, I was using a walker just to get to the mailbox and back, so I am really excited about reaching 3/4 of a mile!

This afternoon I went to physical therapy and worked out on the elliptical for 21 and a half minutes, in addition to doing some of the strengthening exercises.

I've kept on track so far today with my food, tracking everything, and I have 3 more cups of water to drink, and I will have accomplished everything I need to do for today. So, I am feeling very positive.

Yesterday I rewarded myself with a new dress. Since broke below the 200lb mark, I'm very excited! I will wear it this Saturday to my youngest son's wedding.

RAHRAH! Welcome to the thread. Keeping a positive attitude
helps make this journey easier. Do as much as you feel
comfortable with and try to increase your activity a little at a
time. It is a good idea to track your nutrition and sleep, make
sure to drink enough water and remember it isn't just about
the numbers on the scale. Find a non scale victory to boost
your self esteem. Rewards are an important part of getting
to goal. I am sure you can think of something to celebrate each
day-even if it is only getting out of bed.

Hi! My name is Peggy and I live near the Iowa border, in South Dakota. I signed up for Sparkspeople several years ago, and am now getting serious in losing weight. I did my 30 minute Tone and Burn workout and then did about 3 1/2 hours of painting today; tired arms:( but house is looking good!!

There's no place like home!

Got home late last night from a wonderful trip to Florida to visit parents and celebrate Mom's 80th birthday! So great to see them --- so great to come back home.

3.02 mile hike with hubby today - really cool area in the historic Ft. Meade area. I went up the hills a little easier than I thought I could - pulled on the back but was able to get up and down all of 'em. The sun was shining - slight warm breeze ... gorgeous day!

I am lifting heavier weights than I ever have before, the left arm still shakes a bit when I push up or back, I never thought I could lift 10 pounds in my life, its heavy suckers they are! , Way to go on the 5 pounders!, Im' sore today too, I did all my reps and it took me about 25 minutes and then I hit the shower, and the good part of the day, my son in Iowa called me just to say I love you mom!
