How about some cheap decorating ideas? Do you have a wall in the hallway or spare room or a place in your kitchen that needs some attention? I save old calendars then go thru them and find those professional photos of beautiful scenery or animals or whatever you like. You can mount them on poster board or use placemats or buy cheap picture frames at thrift stores or garage sales, then paint them with spray paint. Mount and hang on a wall. These can easily be changed out for the season if you'd like. It give the room or area a fresh look and doesn't cost a lot.
You can also take slightly used towels from your bath or kitchen or maybe some old linens and give them new life with Rit dye. If they were a pale shade before or fading then either use the same color only darker, or be really brave and come up with a whole new contrasting color scheme like vibrant orange to go next to the soft butter yellow.
If you've actually lost enough weight that you can't wear some old tops, then they might find new life as pillow covers. You don't even have to sew - just stretch a tee shirt over the core, fold back and tie with ribbon or shoelaces or use a belt.
All of these take just a little time, very little or no money, and are fun. Mostly you use your imagination.
You can take worn socks and make cozies over jars and fill them with wax if you want to make your own candles, or fill them with dried orange peels, rose petals, pine cones, etc. Start working on things now to give to others as small gifts.
Also consider investing in some colored markers and you can decorate white sneakers and/or a coordinating white or pastel "big shirt" with your own art work. How fun to wear something you made for yourself! The advantage to a big shirt even though you will want to soon celebrate your new shape - we all know that might not happen right away and something in a forgiving & comfortable style will give you a lift whenever you wear it & people will ask where you ever got such a unique piece.

My son and I like trying new recipes that are healthy and inexpensive to make. The real reward is spending quality time with my son. I also like some of the ideas seen here, like renting a movie. maybe I can invite a few friends over and ask that each person bring a healthy snack or non-food item.

Part of my SparkPeople recovery has been to find ways to reach out and spend time with others, make friends, reconnect with family members I enjoy. Obesity, my shame over it, and the physical pain of it, had put me in a prison. My rewards tend to encourage myself to experiment with ways to get out of this jail little by little.

Since I'm between jobs and going to school (no money), I invite a friend to tea at *my* house! I usually have tea and coffee and can make muffins to serve inexpensively. If I make SparkPeople muffins, I can freeze leftovers to use for breakfast in coming days. :)

I've also planned "movie night in" with a DVD from the library, something just fun, with my daughter.

Finally, I've arranged to join a friend who walks for her "cool down mile" at a local museum when we had the Polar Vortex here. I can't walk fast or far enough for her whole walk but we enjoyed part of it together! It was great, free, and felt completely luxurious.

Like most other people, I can't afford anything extra (can't even afford enough food let alone unnecessary things), so like one person posted below, I like to brag a little about my success.
For example, yesterday I put a pair of jeans on that I haven't been able to wear in a year. In private, ongoing messages with 2 of my friends on facebook, I told them about it. They're pretty much the only support group I have other than sparkpeople.
Anyway, my pants fit, just a little snug! But they zipped and buttoned easily!!

Some of mine are picking up a new bottle of nail polish, buying a different type of lip gloss, planning on making my favorite meal at home, setting up a game night with my husband or family, or taking a trip to Savers or Goodwill to find a new outfit.

if you take a day off from laundry, as suggested below, you just pay for it the next day.
I like to play free online games. somebody else might like to listen to music or draw or read a library book or watch a movie borrowed from the library or a friend (while riding a stationery bike). how about a physical activity? walk with friend or some type of ball game.

keep your EYE ON THE BALL. what is the goal?will this action get you closer?

I like the home mani/pedi idea. I also like the movie in idea. Can you take a favorite outfit that no longer fits and have it altered? It cost a little but not as much as a new outfit.

Maybe a mini makeover of one of your rooms.

I can't wait to hear more ideas from the group.

A bubble bath, anything to pamper yourself a bit, time a lone, doing something you have been wanting to do. A lot depends on the person and their likes. I think my new reward will be giving myself time to work on a project that I have been wanting to do but haven't found the time, lol

A home mani/pedi. A movie night in w/ a friend - that way you can be in control of the snacks. Give yourself a day off from laundry/chores. I struggle with this too- I look forward to seeing everyone else's suggestions!

One of the things that Spark recommends is rewarding yourself for meeting goals, keeping up with good habit streaks, etc. I gave myself a great reward for dipping under my first weight goal, but I really don't think it's a good idea for someone in my terrible financial situation to be spending money on rewards every time I meet a goal. At the same time, I am super proud of myself when I meet my goals, and I want to celebrate!

Any ideas for cheap/free non-food rewards?!
