Hope everyone had a good day ;)

Deni...glad you like your doc too...makes a huge difference!

Busy day, but good here. Son's soccer game this morning and then we drove an hour to a garden place which didn't turn out to be quite what I had hoped. However, we think the owner would be a great to work with on landscape design for our property. So I will call her and see if she will come here sometime and help us prioritize what all to do and see if she can create a better vision for some of the problem areas we have. Then stopped at a local nursery and bought annuals to put in my front planters...finally. DH also took lawn-mower in for repair and picked up a bunch of compost, soil and vermiculite for the garden which we need to start planting tomorrow.

Also got the side deck cleaned off (from all the pollen) and one of the large front beds/walkways cleaned out and ready for new mulch. Phew! Felt good to play in the dirt and get lots done, but I know I'll feel some of it tomorrow!

Have to run...dinner is ready. Church tomorrow and then more planting ;)
Take care,
Melissa

Good Morning All,

Melissa glad your doctors appt went so well. He sounds like a good doctor. I like the ones who do more talking then just order tests. I really like my doctor and I see her next friday. She will help me sort things out.

Rick I feel the same way the others feel. You do seem very busy. That can be a good thing just don't over do it. Not sure about you but I feel very bad the next day after I have over done it.

Dorothy I will talk to the doc on Friday about my back. She will help. Thanks for the thoughts.

Cathy hope all is well with you. How did your days with the grand kids go? I know I love the time I get with Brianna. Stay well.

Dale is letting me know that breakfast is ready. Gotta run Deni emoticon

Rick I agree with Melissa, just reading what you do makes me tired. Glad that you are busy with your farm and that the other dog is doing well and wants to play with the younger ones.

Deni hope you find help with your back. It is hard when one part of your body hurts and they just give you pills that cause more problems when you take them. At least that is what happens to me.

Melissa glad that your check up went well and that you don't have to do all those tests. Smoothies are great too and you can make them up how ever you want.

Cathy I hope that you are doing ok since the stuff that happened in Texas and devastation that they had. Need to pray for all that is happening in this world.

I will be having surgery on my left ankle to get rid of the bone spurs and hopefully it will also make it easier to walk too and get this weight off too. My surgery is Friday the 26 but do not know the time since that comes from the surgery center and they will probably call me Wednesday to tell me what time and I am clear to have it. Had an appointment today with my doctor and he said that I was a go. He also did more blood work just to check my vitamin level and that is the first time that I had any doctor do that. Would be nice to see where my B and D levels are.

Rick...I'm tired just reading everything you have going on! I laughed reading about Maggie breaking into the bedroom...my Ginger does that too! I know you have lots of other animals to take care of and love, but a good dog for that long will truly be missed. May your wonderful memories bring you comfort and peace.

Deni...any ideas what you will need to do about your back? Please don't let it go too long before you get it checked out.

My rheum appt went well yesterday. He got the updates about the neuropathy so he did order the extra blood tests but that's all I'm doing for now. He understood that I didn't want to do a bunch of extra tests, MRI's or spinal taps so I was happy with that. We talked through everything and unless something happens I'm good for another 6 months and my homework is to keep increasing my veggies and keep working out as much as I can. We'll talk about the bloodwork in a few days and see if there is anything else I need to tweak like Vit. B. So I'm finding green smoothie recipes and hoping to start trying them next week.

My prayers are with everyone in Boston today as I watch everything unfold. Tragic and overwhelming, but I have to say that I am also at peace knowing that God and the Holy Spirit have been very much at work all week in the thousands of lives affected there.

Thunderstorms just starting here now today...should cool things down a bit. Piano lessons and soccer practice tonight, then soccer game and garden show tomorrow.

Time to run...have to finish my inside chores and get lots of other things done if I can.
Take care everyone and have a good day,
Melissa

Hi Everyone,

Not much to say today. My back hurts every time I take a deep breath. Must go out and run some errands and enjoy the 65 degree weather.

Waiting t hear from VSAC about our college loans. I wonder if its worth all that money. Dale graduated when the economy went bad and he hasn't made a good paycheck after that. People don't get massages when money gets tight. So Dale must work at a tire store so we can get by. I feel so bad because I can't work. My Coop work gets us 20% off our grocerys there but that does not make up for a paycheck. Dale never says anything he is wonderful. I feel guilty.

Must get going TGIF Deni emoticon

Morning everyone,

Thank you everyone for the nice words.

Melissa, Maggie was 16 years old, we were very surprised at how quick she went. Aside from being a little deaf she seemed perfectly healthy. We have one of her brother as well he is arthritic, partially deaf, vision is going has a hard time getting up, and sleeps a lot. But when he's up, he goes out barks at anything that moves, walks around the perimeter of the yard,(looking for bad guys to bark at I assume) and even tries sometimes to play with the other dogs. We always expected him to go first. In fact every year we're surprised he made it another year. Anyway, we feel the emptiness without her, she always woke us right before the alarm went off at 3:30 in the morning, She hated closed doors in the house, especially our bedroom and would jump up, hit the handle and open the door. We always told guests, make sure you lock the door when you go to the bathroom, or you might get a surprise.

Hope all is well with everyone today.

Going to be 79 today and sunny, lots to do today.

After feeding the horses, dogs and cat going to ride the stationary bike and maybe lift weights this morning. I may forgo the weights as I have a couple of tons of hay to unload and stack also.
I also need to call the vet and have our Maggie cremated then go down and take care of the final bill.
once I get my truck unloaded and cleaned up I'll need to load it back up for another agility trial tomorrow. We'll have to leave by 4 a.m. to get there on time. I also need to bathe one of our dogs as well, she likes to jump in the horse troughs then roll in the dirt and manure.
And if I have time, work on my lawn tractor.
Oh and my Pastor gave me a couple of songs he wanted me to try to workout.
aside from that not much else is going on today.

better get going,

Have a good day all,

Rick

Good Day All,

Rick, I am so sorry about your dog. I know I worry about my cat Dana. He is almost 17 and worry about him every time he coughs. Bu the Vet came him a clean bill of health for now. Dana and I are sending prayers your way and hope things get better for you.

Dorothy thanks for the tip on the tea. Will give it a try. The thing I have seems to have gone to my back. Still coughing some.

Cathy I also feel bad for what happened in Boston. I lived down there in the early 70s so feel part of that city. Still go there to ball games and concerts. Its a great city except to drive in LOL

Melissa, I love smoothies but don't use recipes. Just put in a banana some juice and ice and what ever else I want to put in. Just not to much stuff. Know people that put in kale or other greens. You can make it your own.

Its very cloudy today and they say rain tonight and Friday then will get cooler for the weekend.
Can't wait for the weather to be good enough to walk outdoors. That will be nice. Then it will get to hot and I'll be inside again. Oh well round and round we go.

Must go Talk later Deni emoticon

Hi all,
Quick check in before I go to my rheum appt. today.
Rick...so sorry to hear about your dog. Bloat is scary...sorry you all had to go through that. How old was he/she? My Ginger is 10 and every year now she has more medical problems and it is harder for her to get around because of the arthritis. Anyway...so sorry for your loss.

Deni...hope you are feeling better today.

Cathy...enjoy your time with the grandkids. So glad you can spend time with them and take care of them. And yes...it really does take your mind off what is happening in the world.

Dorothy...are your pollen counts high this week? They say we are 4,000 or so today which is high, but the trees/shrubs are all blooming and stuff is just thick in the air.

Does anyone do veg/fruit smoothies? I'm going to try some recipes and see if that will help increase my veggie intake. I eat an early breakfast but get hungry mid morning and a banana just isn't enough anymore...especially when I work out.
Had a great women's Bible study here yesterday...great discussion and a wonderful group that has really rallied around each other during tough times. I'm blessed to be able to facilitate that.
Busy day today and feeling ok. Expecting thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. Hoping to go to a garden show on Saturday after my son's soccer game.

Have a wonderful day all...spread kindness wherever you go ;)

Rick it is good to see you and so sorry about your dog, As for the broken line is that not how it is suppose to happen. So sorry but my shift key is not working and so I can't put anything that is needed to shift on.

Cathy I am like you too. That is all that they have here on tv in Florida too. It is like they get on something and repeat it over and over again. Maybe that is why it keeps happening here because they know the news will make them famous. It also makes people less sensitive to other forms of violence too.

Deni hope you feel better and there is a tea that I buy that is called Breathe Easy and it helps open the lungs up. I use it when my lupus acts up and I end up with fluid in my lungs.

Melissa hope things are going good for you

Dorothy

Hi all
Sorry I haven't been here. I've been so distracted and busy the last couple days. I finally did get my tax papers in the mail and have started filling out forms but will have to put it on hold for the next 2 days as I will be babysitting tomorrow and Friday.

My son and DIL have a babysitter but that ladies daughter has been home all week with the stomach bug and a fever. They have been taking turns staying home from work so I offered to sit for the next 2 days. They have had so much sickness this winter and already had the stomach bug...then I got it....the other grandmother got it too! This weekend is Isaac's 4th birthday party and they don't want everyone getting sick.

Also, I have been distracted and very sad because of the events in Boston on Monday. I grew up in Mass and the marathon and Patriots Day have always held great memories. Every year there are many I know who are at the marathon either watching/cheering, helping out or running. Monday I was watching the news when the story broke and I was horrified and crying. Thankfully no one I knew was hurt but a few friends/teachers I used to work with knew the little 3 year old that was hurt. I didn't sleep at all Monday night, a little better last night.

It's so hard to watch TV because they keep playing the videos over and over. Every time I switch stations, it's on...we have a station from Boston that has 24 hour coverage. I do want to keep up with what's going on but the overload of images is overwhelming. I'm having a hard time concentrating on this paperwork so it's probably better that I take the 2 days off and spend time with my family.

The first thing I noticed when the bombs went off were the people who were running towards it to help. It's amazing to see the courageous spirit of people rushing in to help those who were hurt knowing they themselves could be in danger. I knew if my daughter still worked in Cambridge and in and around the Boston area, she would have been right in there too.

Sorry, I had to get this out. When I'm upset, I tend to withdraw but I couldn't hold this in.

Cathy

Morning all,

Sounds like everyone has been busy.

Deni, I hope they get that straightened out for you. I know what it's like to deal with things like that. It can be so frustrating..

DJ, glad you made it through the storms o.k. Being in California, and warm temps, it's sometimes hard to imagine it being stormy elsewhere and for some even snow.

Melissa hope your husband is better and has kicked the flu bug. But if he's anything like me you should probably make sure he's feeling better and not just being stubborn. (that makes my wife upset when I say I'm better and I'm not) Can't help it though, must be in my genes! Ha!
I say you can never have too much information when dealing with anything legal. I think they call that CYA!

Cathy, hope all is well with you. and you are continuing to move forward!

I haven't been able to get on the computer much this weekend. With the warmer weather I have been busy with work outside. Right now I'm trying to fix a broken water line which unfortunately is near the edge of our foundation and amidst 6 other lines and of course it is one of the bottom ones.

One of our dogs passed away yesterday. She all of a sudden got sick and bloated. after a couple of days(because it was the weekend) I took her to the vet. They kept her overnight, did xrays and blood work found a kidney infection. She started getting better but dies overnight. The Dr said she was probably just to old to come back from it. I'm going to miss her.

Lot to do today, need to take a PC in to be tuned up, then to get some training treats. Also need to stop at the bank and see about closing an account. Then this evening the long dive to a dog lesson.

Time to hit the stationary bike then tend to the horses and the dogs,

Have a good day all!

Rick

Hi All,

Dorothy how right you are about goverment people. Its always your mistake. Oh well such is life.

Must make this a quick note. Not feeling well today. Woke up last night about 1am and felt like I could not breath and was coughing alot. This morning my throat hurts and so do my ears. Had a fever but some motrin took care of that.

We do have a good day today. Sunny and will be about 60.

My cat Dana got a clean bill of health at the Vet the other day. He is almost 17 and has diabetes. She can not find any of the things older cats with that disease usally has. She calls him her miracle cat.

Must close hope everyone has a good day. Deni emoticon

Deni what is wrong with your arm? Those people that do that always try to either tell you that you did it wrong or that it is filled out wrong or that you should of read the contract.

Melissa glad that your husband is feeling better and he still needs to take it easy until he gets his strength back

Cathy how did the taxes go?

Got through the storms ok no damage.

Hi All,

Went Cooping this am and then ran a few errands. I do feel real good after being at the coop.
Today I am worn out. Yesterday I got our bill that we get every month from VSAC. Thats the local place that you get your college loans. Well its been 96 dollars and it jumped to 163 with no notice. We sent in all our paper work in that we need to do every year. Dale made less money. I called (waited on the phone for 20 mins.) and they said we didn't send in the right paperwork. We sent in what the guy told us to and she said you got the wrong info. YEAH

So we sent in the other forms today. Now we'll see. I got so upset for the rest of the day I was sick about it. I get very nervous about things. Esp about money. Never seems to be enough.

Melissa glad your DH is feeling better.

Dorothy hope you got thru the storm OK.

Must go now Deni emoticon

Morning all,
DH is feeling better and is going to work this morning. I will check in with him at noon to see if he wants to stay all day or come home early. That flu took a lot out of him.

We got our parts of the paperwork done for the attorneys so DH is making triplicate copies of everything today and then I'll take everything in to the paralegal. With all the attachments it is a lot of paper, but we know it is better to provide them with more information at this point rather than less. And the atty can decide what all to use now and what to save for later.

News was so sad yesterday afternoon. But I was so impressed by all the people who rushed in to help those who were injured. So proud of first responders and military folks who ran toward the blasts to help out. Last night after our bedtime prayer time our daughter said, "I think we should make cards for the people of Boston...they help people feel better." So that's what we will do later today. Children get it...we respond with love.

I didn't sleep well last night so hopefully I can rest a bit later. Some indoor chores to finish today and a full afternoon and evening of piano lessons. I need to sweep and wash down the side porch to try to clean off some of the pollen now too so we don't keep tracking it into the house. Don't know if I will get the back deck done today too, but it needs it too.

Take good care everyone...and remember that light always overcomes darkness. Be light today ;)

Melissa Hope your DH is feeling better and it is allot that you did and it made me tired just reading what you did. Yes we did get a good rain and the thunder was going real good along with the lightening too. Made a good show too.

Deni - glad that you had a good time with your family

Cathy hope that they get your taxes taken care of and that you don't get hurt by what they done to your tax form.

Deni...so glad you had a great time with your family. I think as a team leader, when you open a new thread or an old one you should see about the thread the option to 'Make this the 1st sticky' or something like that. If you just click it, you should find that it does become a sticky topic. I know how to do it on my other team where I am a leader, so hopefully you'll find it ;)

Dorothy...I heard about storms moving through yesterday. My brother in Orlando was on the lookout. We were supposed to get more rain, but most of it slid south of ATL. I think you all need it more than we do.

Cathy...hopefully you can call your tax person today and find out where your paperwork is. Glad you were able to get pictures up...doesn't that really make it feel like home again? Even if I'm not sure exactly where I want things to go, I try to get at least some things up quickly...can always change them later. It just feels so much better.

My DH was sick with the stomach bug all weekend so I'm worn out from the weekend. Yesterday I took the kids to church, taught Sunday School, came home and cooked pancakes and eggs, did the clean-up, put together my menu/grocery list for the week, went grocery shopping, cooked dinner, cleaned-up, kept laundry going, helped kids pick up their rooms and get ready for the week, made lunch sandwiches for the week and got them to bed! Phew! At the end of the day I felt like Paddington in one of his little books about being all worn out after a long day! Usually on weekends my DH does the cooking and grocery shopping so I have a break, but with him sick I was happy to do it. I just forgot how tiring it is to do it all yourself. I'm so lucky that he helps so much at home...I couldn't do it without him!

Have lots to get to today so I'm finally on the move.
Hope you all have a great day!
Melissa

Morning all!
Thanks for getting us started Deni. Looks like you figured out how to do the sticky notes. Only the team leaders can do that. Glad you had a nice time with the family yesterday and could put off your shot for 1 day as I know how tired it makes you.

Melissa, I had that awful stomach bug about a month ago. I slept most of the day and was so weak from it. Yeah for planting flowers, wish it would warm up here. There's still a little snow on the ground. Some of the crocuses survived the hail/snow/rain mixture and I can see more coming up!

I spent yesterday putting pictures up on the wall. I don't have all the newest pictures I want but at least I got the frames up. I can always go back and switch pictures around later but have to order them first.

I spoke to my CPA last Sunday and he was going to put a copy of my taxes in the mail on Monday but I have not received them yet. I need it to fill out the FAFSA report for college and to apply for services. This is very frustrating as I'm meeting with my college advisor this week as well as my worker for the program I'm in. Even though this program is paying for my school/books, they want to see if I can get grants/scholarships. They wanted me to apply asap.

Gotta get some grocery shopping done today and some cleaning.
Enjoy your Sunday
Cathy
