It's alright. I've read up a lot on them and talked to my SIL (sister in law) who had them through all 3 of her pregnancies although her first baby was born at 33 1/2 wks and was in NICU for 3 weeks till her bowels developed. I'm REALLY hoping that's not going to happen. I'm very fortunate to be at home where I can lay down when they start coming. She had to work fulltime and didn't have a choice and hers turned into early labor.
I read though that they are getting your body prepared for birth and a big majority of people say they have a good labor after having them for a long period of time. Who really knows though cause they don't what labor would have been like without them. All speculation but It's a good thought to have, lol. I'm hoping for a good short labor but not going to hold my breath for it, lol.

Yeah, it's mostly about dehydration but I drank about 2 gallons of water (no exaggeration cause it was 2 64oz bottles of water before lunch and 2 after lunch) and was STILL thirsty that night. I don't see how in the world that was possible. That's a lot of water. Of course I was peeing every 20 min, lol. But they stopped coming as frequently too.
I'm still having them a lot but I just lay down drink some water and then rest for about 20 min and then they go away till I start another big project.
I just have to keep these things under control for 4 1/2 wks then I can let em' fly! Although probably by 37 wks they'll have gone away and then I'll feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever, lol.

Sorry never experienced this myself. In my other pregnancy group a lot of the other moms have been posting that they are having them too though and they all said the same thing they just have to sit down and rest and drink a ton of water. Good luck

Well, I had my Doc appt yesterday and everything was fine and she said I was having a contraction as she was about to listen to the baby's heart beat. I hadn't known what it felt like before but after she was able to show me how my stomach tightened up I knew I've felt that before. I just thought the baby was pushing hard to the outside of my tummy. Well ever since last night I've been having the braxton hicks a LOT. Sometimes 2 minutes apart and others like 6 to 8 min apart. There's no rhyme or reason to them I've seem and they don't hurt although I notice some more than others. I can definitely tell by feeling my stomach but some I can actually feel coming on and peaking and then going away. They last less than 30 seconds each but Its' been bothering me. I called the midwife and also let her know I took a stool softener last night and have been taking extra fiber too and she thinks that is whats causing them so frequently because those things including extra fiber will dehydrate you so you need to drink extra water. Bad thing is all that stuff still ain't helping me go to the bathroom normally and she said that some of that cramping will cause the BH's. Also, they said that some people will have BH's around 5 to 10 apart starting now till they go into labor 5-8 weeks later. I don't mind... I just dont' want to go into real labor early. They told me to lay down and rest and drink plenty of fluids but if they don't go away am I supposed to just lay around all the time? What if they last till I go into labor at 40 wks? Am I still supposed to lay around and not do stuff throughout the rest of it? I told them I'd call them on Monday and let them know if anything changed and if they got more frequent or, of course if I bleed or anything I'll call the emergency number. Just didn't know how to plan my weekend and I forgot to ask them, lol. Anyone else ever had this problem or something similar?

Thanks guys! I didn't know what SPD was but I looked it up and I'm pretty sure I have a touch of it. Looks like I probably had it bad a few months ago when for some reason I couldn't hardly lift one of my legs to get in and out of our truck. It was bad. I was using a full body pillow at the time and getting up to pee a lot during the night was not easy cause I was having to lift and hold my leg up to get the pillow out of my way so I could get up. Doing that about 5 times a night wasn't fun and after a while I was hurting so bad I had to stop using that pillow and go back to a smaller one. It eventually went away after a few weeks but I still hurt just not near as bad. I'm like you Erica where I I have a hard time putting on pants in the morning.
I'm pretty sure that's what it us and seems to be that 25% of women get it during pregnancy. Good to know what's going on at least. I did read that some people even have to be put in a wheel chair toward the end of pregnancy because it's so bad. I really hope nothing like that happens to any of us. I think I'm going to start stretching more, :-) Maybe that will help. :-)

I had SPD with my first but it hasn't been nearly as bad with the second. I did lots of walking after the first and I think that helped get everything back in alignment. The things that help me avoid the pain the most while pregnant are to keep my knees together when getting in and out of bed, the car, chairs, etc. and then using my hands to actually lift my legs in and out of the car. This time around I've only had problems when I was also simultaneously having back pain which probably meant that all my joints were inflamed for a while.

I wish I could tell you it gets better with the second but for me its worse this time around. Sometimes it hurts to lift my legs to just put my pants on in the morning! It might not be the same thing your experiencing but I get the hip/pelvis/groin area pain so pretty much everything down there lol it could be the way she's positioned or it could be spd or just round ligament pain all are possible explanations for pain in that area and all a pain in the butt. I find the support belt helps to an extent but also when its real bad to go on all 4s and gently rock your pelvis (I think these are called pelvic tilts? not sure though) anyways they always help me and I also go to a chiropractor every other week to have them give my hips a good work up and thats also a life saver. Mention it to your doc if your worried but pain in that area is pretty common so I wouldn't worry to much

I've read you're supposed to have some pain in the abdomen area while pregnant but sometimes it hurts to even lift a leg to walk. It's my lower uterus area and sometimes it feels like little needles pricking me. Maybe it's the way she's positioned? I figure some of you have experienced this or would know what I'm talking about since you're working your second one. Does this get better with the second child? I would assume it would since your uterus has stretched before. Maybe also cause I'm a little older and my parts aren't as young and springy. I don't know but sometime I have to actually stop what I'm doing and sit down because it hurts so bad. I'm going to try using my belly/back brace today. I haven't used it much because of having to pee so often and taking it off is a pain but if it helps it'll be totally worth it.

Don't worry the same thing happened to me with both pregnancy's last time it was off and on throughout the whole thing this time it seems it mainly stuck to the first trimester. Small spaced out snacks and meals like you said help keep you sugar levels constant which will help also just trying to keep movements like standing up or getting out of bed slower helped me too. I'd still mention it to your doc but I wouldn't worry overly much seems to be relatively normal :)

Hey Ashley, nice to see you on the team! :-)

I think that's fairly normal as long as you aren't falling over or anything and it's just very slight dizziness. I've felt some of that during pregnancy and the Doc said it was normal to get a little dizzy when getting up to fast. Of course you can get dizzy when over exercising, I was doing some of that my last pregnancy to where I'd have to stop and I'd feel like I might pass out. You'll get tired much faster especially in your first trimester so really make sure that you're not over doing exercise because when you're having a harder time breathing the baby isn't getting as much oxygen either. Doc told me to stay between a 5 and an 8 which is where you can be sweating but can still hold a conversation.
Hopefully everything's ok so when you go to your Doc appt on the 26th. be sure to let us know how it was. :-)

I have been very dizzy and lightheaded so far. I planned on asking my doctor about it on my first visit. I have just been eating a small snack or small meals. It's been helping for the most part.

That seems about right. Some people are more sick than others. I had nausea and that was it, no vomiting but I've had many friends who were sick as a dog throughout their first trimesters vomiting every day and not just in the mornings, lol. You're body's just getting used to the HCG hormone and it'll get better as it gets more and more used to it. Don't push yourself. Do what you can and sleep or rest when you feel like it. Of course everyone tells me still to sleep when you can cause once that little one comes you won't get much sleep, lol. Maybe this is the time when your body is telling you to do just that, lol. It's making you take a break that you will appreciate later. :-D

I am 10 weeks, 3 days now. I have been losing weight because of morning sickness and complete lack of appetite. But I have not been able to work out since I was about 6-7 weeks because every time I try to even go walking, I will just keep vomiting. Sorry, if it's TMI. Has this happened to anyone else? Once my nausea is somewhat better, I plan on exercising. Just right now I can't.

Oh yeah! My DH had looked up that stuff before I did and he told me about it. Of course I kept looking for the veins before I even got them, wondering when they were going to pop up! lol. SO many changes.

I ran across this today and thought i'd share! :-)

"Occasional faintness or dizziness: Your body isnít producing enough blood to fill your expanding circulatory system, which can lead to dizziness and fainting. Stave off light-headedness by keeping your blood sugar stable with regular, small meals throughout the day ó and by keeping a stash of healthy snacks nearby at all times." www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-

Thats the article page it came from.
:-) Hope that helps! You're normal, ;-).

Yep, It's happened several times since I've been pregnant but until yesterday the flu like feelings would last all evening and night until the next morning and then I would feel great. Same thing is happening this afternoon just not as bad. I felt great til about 1:30 and then I started feeling like I was coming down with a cold or flu. I did look it up and they said that it's not that uncommon and that there are many women out there that actually get flu like symptoms during their first trimester then it goes away.

Hmmm, that's odd too but I can definitely see that happening. I read the baby is taking everything from us especially this early and that you can have many symptoms like disorientation, heart palpitations and things of that sort. Not everyone has those problems but some do and it's nothing to be alarmed about. I currently have the palpitations. It's not bad but annoying none the less. Hopefully it'll stop after this trimester! I'm ready to get to the good part of being preggers. :-D

Ok, I assume I'm normal but this was like totally weird today. About 3pm I started feeling really bad... Like I checked my temp cause I felt like I was coming down with the flu. The full fledged flu! It was only 98.9 so that's not bad but I had body chills and everything. Felt like it was going to be about 102. easy. I got up about 5 off the couch and made DH a sammich to take to work with him and then felt bad so I laid back down for a few. Never slept though. Got up about 6pm and was feeling fine! I have no idea what happened, lol. I didn't think I would be sick cause I haven't been anywhere to pick up anything. It's been a week since I've been shopping and DH doesn't go out much since he's working from home most of the time, lol. Either way, I got up and cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen and made me a nice salad. :-) Gotta be some weird pregnancy chit, lol

Pregnancy is a beautiful time... but thats not to say that you won't experience weird and sometimes gross things. I'm sure at one time or another you'll find yourself asking is that normal? Post it here and be reassured almost all your weird symptoms are probably normal :)
