2 weeks ago I lost 12 lbs, this past Sunday when I weighed myself, I gained back 10lbs. I'm very frustrated with my body and the medical system that stated they'd be there down the road after the horrible medical supervised diet was completed this spring. However, I cannot focus on that or I'll just do what I'm currently doing - sit in a corner and just "forget about it." I'm going to keep moving forward.

I started on March 1st earlier this year at a weight of 163 kilos which for most of you converts over to 360lbs. My intention is to get myself down to 180lbs exactly halving my starting weight by loosing the same 180lbs.

As of Yesterday I am now at 271lbs which means I have lost a total of 89lbs with a total of 91lbs to go.

It is all coming off rather slower at the moment but I am still managing to loose each and every week so I know I will get there.

I explain what I have done so far in my blogs so please feel free to read them.

Cheers

Hi gang!

I'm happy to report that this weekend after three months of working hard, I've reached a pretty big goal - 30 POUNDS DOWN! Woohoo! I hope to lose 60 by the end of this year. My ultimate goal is to lose more than 100 pounds to get to the weight I was when I was most fit and healthy and happy. This year I reached the highest weight I've ever been. Next year I turn 40, and I want to be celebrating how healthy I am and be at the lowest weight I've been at since my 20s.

Read about my adventures on my blog!

Hi,

for me it was the opposite, WW worked okay, but the community was really pitiful and my leader was pushing really unhealthy options so long as it was low in points.

In any case, congratulations on reaching your goal. Looking forward to chat with you :)

I reached my goal weight today by using Weight Watchers on-line. Of course, I have to pay for it but I got fantastic results. Spark just wasn't working for me and I've been a member several years. I still use it for info and contacts. It turns out the WW point system works better for me: no more calorie counting after all these years (67). And WW is very nutritious, too. I don't think they have many special groups for atheists LOL but what else is new? emoticon

ARGH!

BACK up to 155 (I've maintained between 149 and 151 since last November) and I've got to get back to work.

I'm only 5'1. I've been here for a while and need to re-introduce myself.

Hi.

Make one good choice today. Then another. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Thanks! Gotta say though, spent a few days over eating. I think I'm doing a good job streamlining for the rest of the week though. Tracking my day early seems to help, every time I get hungry I just see what I'm up to, have something I've tracked, and chug some h2o.

ok I'll bite.

Weighed in yesterday: dial scale reads 157-158, my wii fit board says I'm 160-point-something. Either way, it told me I am down 0.9 lbs since last week.

LW: 119 lbs (so many moons ago)

I have somewhere between 18 and 21 lbs to lose. If only it was as easy to take off as it was to put on!

Well I took off a solid year and a half. And of course I am so mad! Nothing quite like gaining back weight that you swore would never come back to haunt you. It is a small consolation that I am not as fat as I was at my fattest (only close). Ah well, back on the treadmill/elliptical/stepper/whathaveyou.

I exceeded my goal this month :) I shot for total WL of 24.6 and wound up with 26.2. I reset the scale four times because I wasn't sure it was working LoL Same weight every time so I settled for it.

With the nice weather, I am more active by being outdoors walking around more; that's really been the only difference and still watching these calories like a awk, but not like a maniac :)

0.6 to lose by Thursday to meet my mini goal. Doesn't seem like much, but I've been slowing down to under a pound a week lately and not a whole lot I can do in terms of increasing activity since I'm in physical therapy to rehab my feet. We'll see :)

1/2 a pound a week average is just fine; more than 2lbs consistently would have us worried :)

Soon you'll get the hang of the new calorie range; it takes a while to get adjusted.

Well, up half a pound, but that seems like a normal fluctuation over the course of a few days... and I didn't expect to lose any weight this time through... my daily calorie differential has been at about 300 for a few weeks, So I am at more of a pound every other week kind of line.

I would like to say, though, that I am liking where I am at. I am getting strong. I climbed a mountain (a literal, not figurative) over the weekend. I am strong enough to do that. That makes me happy.

Hey guess what (!)

Apparently, I was retaining water last week when I "gained". Probably due to my 6500mg of sodium day the day before (yeah, it was a bad day).

So I have weighed myself three times since then: 178.5

I have officially lost 5.5 lbs in 8 weeks. Sure, sounds slow, but yay! Scale is going DOWN not up for the first time in 2 years. Also, I am totally getting ripped. You should see my muscly arms.

My waist has also done a little shrinking, down to 33 inches at the belly button and 31 at the smallest part (from 36 and 34 at the beginning). I KNEW all those core classes had to be firming SOMETHING up.

The spell is broken.

I've been getting out for more walks (in addition to my usual workouts), thanks to some great weather. It's not always a fast walk because I usually take my dog and he is always on a quest for that perfect blade of grass! Later this week I'll have a couple travel days for work...airport food, long days in class, limited exercise...I'll do my best guesses with food and will walk, walk, walk! (Luckily classes are in long building.....a couple walks from one end to the other should do)! Hopefully I will be a pound down when I get back.

Current weight: 182. I am not too worried, though, that the scale doesn't seem to be moving. I had a ton of salt last night so I am probably holding a little water.

My waiste isn't changing either. It looks different though. It looks like the muscle underneath is pushing the fat out, and if I look really hard, I can see definition underneath my little "spare tire".

Things that aren't exactly measurable that I was able to do this week:
1) 60 girl push-ups. That's huge for me.
2) I ran 1.3 miles in 13 minutes. That's 6 miles per hour, or a 10 minute mile. That is also a huge improvement.

So, 7 weeks in, and my weight hasn't changed much, but I feel better, I sleep better, and I am most definitely getting stronger. There are muscles! In my arms! Defined muscles! SO COOL.

Well it happened! The scale moved but I don't know how. This weekend my son was home from college and my sister was visiting. It is the first time we have all been together for months so we celebrated every holiday we missed or is coming up. That meant steak and baked potatoes, wine, champagne, birthday cake, Easter Bunny goodies, Fasnachts, Italian sandwiches, potato chips, Chinese take-out, Burger King (while shopping) and wings. Sounds like all we did was eat for 4 days. Also no work outs and the scale dropped 1.6 pounds. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!!!!! I have been making over all my recipes to include whole grains and less fat and work out 4 - 5 ties a week and nothing happens. I start eating and not working out and I lose almost 2 pounds. I stepped on and off the scale 6 times to make sure I wasn't going to get an ERROR message. I'm at a loss but I'll take it.

Current weight: 159

I did take a picture of my feet but I can't upload it here.

I've been a little pressed for time and it's been all I could manage tracking my food and exercise. I've been doing pretty well in both categories, but my scale hasn't rewarded me.

Then again, it's just a scale.

With my being sick for the better part of two months and, guess what, woke up with yet another #@$% cold this morning, arrrgh, I thought I had hit a plateau. Thus, last week I decided to stay off the scale; I figured if the loss had slowed down then it would be unequivocal in 2 weeks rather than a couple of ounces which could have been water retention.

I've also lost 2.5 inches overall and met my mini goal to my surprise (total WL 21.6 by today).

In all, it looks good. So why do I feel like it didn't? Maybe because the weight is not coming off as easy. I guess this is where it becomes a lifestyle change instead of a diet.

Back to the drawing board and see what I can and I'm willing to do right now. See you in two weeks.

Try not to be frustrated.
Take some deep breaths.
Recognize that, regardless whether you lose weight, you are living a healthy lifestyle.
Pat yourself on the back for all of the good things you are doing - logging your food, working out, etc.
Hang in there until the next weigh in

OK. Fine. I got on the darn scale.

I knew I wouldn't like what I saw.

Up another pound and a half, although my measurements didn't move.

I am calling this my "awkward phase" of changing my life. It looks bad when I write it out (by memory, I might have missed a week).

Week 1: Lost 2
Week 2: Lost 2
Week 3: Gained 1
Week 4: Stayed the same
Week 5: Didn't weigh. There was an incident involving Valentine's chocolate.
Week 6: Back up again.

So.

I weigh 182.5 lbs. I am 5'8" tall, and "pear" shaped, so I don't SEEM big unless you look at me from behind. I have a 33 inch waist, and some pretty big hips.

I am learning. Things have improved this week, eating wise. I stopped diet soda and alcohol, and THIS week, at least, I have stayed in range of calories.

I have high hopes for next week.

It seems that a lot of us are having trouble with the scale these days; I blame it on winter - bad weather, bad mood, sickness, just name it. I want spring, now! *sigh* I'm so done with this crappy winter.

Not a good weigh in for me this week. Up 2 pounds. Yikes! Hope that at least one of those pounds was the excess sodium from the Thai food last night.

Determined to do better this week. Started off with a nice Chicken Greek salad for brunch instead of the Spinach Feta omelet. And just finished a 2.25 mile run.

Color me hopeful

Way to go Maraude!!!

I just got back from my 4 day trip to SC with my son. That means I spent 2 12 hours days just driving. I guess we made up for it on the college visit days when we walked and walked and walked. I was really afraid to step on the sale because even though I packed healthy snacks for the car, I didn't exactly eat that great the rest of the time. This morning I stepped on the scale and it read 159!! I got off to go get my camera because that was when I was going to post my feet picture and my scale read ERROR. I stepped back on and it was 160.6. Exactly the same as when I left. I'm taking that as a win.

I'm happy to report that my body has finally caught up to my work being sick for a few weeks (one illness after another) and registered a good loss. I was starting to grasp for straws. Pfew *wiping forehead* Now I know what motivation is though ;)

MARAUDE: I have to say, I KNOW why the scale isn't moving. I am still eating too much. HOWEVER. Except for the one chocolate orgy yesterday, things have been getting better and better.

ANN5497: Yeah, I am down three since Jan 15. Which I am actually OK with since I can now fit into some pants and not look like an over stuffed sausage. So. Down one size, two to go. Down three pounds, 37 to go. Hm. Sounds weird when I say it THAT way.

Ditto on the pants. I'm only down about 5 pounds since the beginning of Jan, but my pants are all much more comfortable now. Feels good!

Leauxra, everybody here has or will be and again for some seeing no scale movement. It takes a little bit of troubleshooting usually to get things moving again; tracking helps with it. No gain is better than gain. Glad you're looking elsewhere for signs of improvement, ie pants :) Keep it up :)

Soupguru, nice job! It feels good when that evil scale moves :)

THESOUPGURU: Wow! Look how far you've come! Awesome job on the pound and a half!

And I have to admit, I've been wearing the pants that were too tight in January this week. They fit fine, now, so maybe I'm finally firming up a bit underneath all my... ah... fluff. Thanks for the encouraging words!

My weigh in is supposed to be Monday but I was too cold yesterday to strip down and stand on the scale at 5:30 am so I skipped it. I did it today though. I have been pretty disgusted with the lack of scale movement but I feel better and my clothes fit better so I guess I'm happy with that. Luckily I did see movement this week.

160.6 = 1.4 lbs lost. So close to that foot shot of 159.

I am leaving on Thurs. for a 5 day trip which means eating out all the time. I hope next Mon. doesn't mean I'm back up again.

Leauxra - Keep it up. We are right there with you cheering you on. No gain is a win!

Time for my Tuesday weigh in. I will admit I was nervous. I gained a pound last week, and then I pulled a muscle that didn't allow me to do all of my normal exercises.

Add on to that my utter and complete lack of won't power, and it's a recipe for disaster.

::drumroll::

181 lbs.

I gained and lost nothing, which is more than I hoped for.

Getting back on track this week, already went to a class and ran 5 miles since Sunday.

There's just something in the air... everyone seems to be struggling this week... but look at what you already accomplished! And you still went down and not up, which is more than I did.

I am starting over today in my head ,and get myself back on track, and will NOT beat myself up over past mistakes.

Deep breath.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm falling out at the seams a bit lately. Three weeks of wandering sick and tired and stressed; not handling too well. :) Trying to pull myself together though right now and made a nice soup; yum. :)

I have decided to put my weighing off until tomorrow to get back to my Thursday morning weight check since now I have my own scale. Getting me on the scale is like trying to drag me to church, not!

See you all tomorrow for my number.

Soupguru, hang in there; must be that new moon, Chinese new year thing ;)

I skipped my weigh in this week. I had too much good stuff on Sunday and I would rather pretend there was no gain or even a loss than see the reality staring me back from the scale. I'm getting a little frustrated with how slow the scale is moving. I guess I need to start taking my measurements and maybe I'll see an improvement there. I do have clothes that didn't fit a month ago that now fit so that is an improvement. I just want to see the scale go down!!

Congrats Tawnybird. Way to go!

Leauxra - Next week we will both see an improvement.

Maraude - Keep up the good work of pulling us all together.

Today is my "weigh day", and I would like to demand a recount. Darn it! Gained a pound this week. Can we just pretend that this didn't happen, and have a do over tomorrow? This could very well be bloating from drinking beer last night.

Or it could be the price I have to pay for having fried wings last week. And Jack-in-the-Box. And beer.

Oh. Right.

Awesome! I tried to keep my measuring tape tucked away for a monthly measure, but I checked this morning. I had to know. The difference is minor, but it's there.

Congratulations on 6 inches overall!

I'm sick, bloated and tired (hint) so I am taking this very well seeing I was good this week overall and figured I'd take my measurements since it has been 30 days. I shrunk 6 inches between bust, upper arm, thigh, waist, calf and hips; I could already tell from the clothing I wear, so I'm doing the happy dance :) Mwhahah...

I love the idea of some accountability with other people. I tend to live in my head a bit too much, and am generally to embarassed or self-conscious to tell people I see every day.

So, here it is, putting it out there:

Weight loss goal: 39lbs by December
Past week weight loss: 2lbs
Total lost to date: 4lbs
Weight-in day: Tuesday, Jan 31, 2012

I have gone from 184 to 180 lbs in 16 days. I keep looking at my food and fitness tracker, knowing something must not be right. I generally go over my allotted 1890 calories a day by 100-200 calories, but I have lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks. I must be more active than I think.

Well that, and I think I was eating around 2500-3000 before. No wonder I gained 40 lbs in 2 years!

You guys are doing the right thing; you have a downward trend overall. Why duel on this where there is a perfectly reasonable explanation?

As one gets toward the end of the weight loss journey, the weight is harder to take off because it is harder to create the calorie deficit needed to get results a scale can see. So unless we also exercise to make up for the calorie deficit shrinkage as our bodies need less food to survive, seeing that the bottom line shouldn't be lower than 1200 cal to get all we need in terms of nutrients. Clear as mud? So at this point, we exercise a lot more and do build some muscle, 1 lb of muscle is denser thus smaller than 1 lb of soft wobbly fat. So, measurements are probably a good thing to check, and less scale checks, as well and other things that SP's article suggests. I did a blood panel myself to see how it goes in 12 months.

Here is the article: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivat

If you insist on stepping on that scale more than once daily, than you might as well stick yourself in the eye with a pin every time... less painful ;) or be at peace with the fluctuations and here is an article about that as well.

www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/fitn
es
s/weight-loss/weight-fluctuations-exR>plained.html

quote: Weight fluctuations can result in a temporary weight increase of up to 5 pounds a day.

And then there is still hormonal changes, sodium and who knows what else.

Seeing the misery, when I start losing less than 1/2 lb a week, I'll be on the scale less and less; tracking food and exercise have been my best friends. I'll get body fat checked with calipers also. I know I'm doing what I'm supposed to do or not... then there are consequences... good or bad. I make corrections from there and try to learn from it.

Missifish - When I stepped on the scale on Monday I immediately thought of you. I really am super super impatient just like you are but I am trying to not let it get me down and take my own advice that I gave you. Next Monday is really going to be awful though. My son has been on this weight loss journey with me and we have tons of bad stuff planned for our Super Bowl Splurge. We are like 2 little kids looking forward to Christmas morning. It's ridiculous. I think this week Sunday will be my weigh in day and it will give me another whole week to burn off all the stuff I'm planning on eating.

Ohhhhh... I can so relate! The scale is a frustrating mistress, and I want to tell her to take a hike. I'm glad you are being so reasonable about this. I'm being less of a role model and more of a grouch. emoticon

I weighed myself on Sat. and I was down 2 pounds (160.6) but since my official weigh in day isn't until Mon. I thought I would wait. Well, Monday comes and I'm 2 pounds heavier. Hmmm. Dinner out on Sun. night shouldn't have mattered that much but I think it that old sodium up to it's usual tricks. I was down .6 pounds this morning so that will be my official weigh in for this week.

I'm currently into weighing myself daily and embracing the fluctuations as I notice the general trend of the graph going downwards. All the ups and downs are still downs overall, and that way I don't have to rely on whatever the scale says on that one magic day.
It's working for me, and that seems to be what matters. We all succeed in different ways.
Today's weight 143.2. Tomorrow's will undoubtedly be different.
