Happy to be helpful, Dev!

I know everyone here is concerned about avoiding artificial sweeteners... which is why my radar went up when I read that these bars weren't sweetened with sugar. Frankly I don't see anything "wrong" with Maltitol... you just have to eat it in moderation.

I have seen chocolates advertised that are high in antioxidants.
Haven't bought any of them though cuz of the price.

Let me see if I can find them...
Here's one brand, Xocai... you can see how pricey they are and their ingredient list is in a PDF file that you have to download in order to view (sigh)

www.ultimateantioxidant.ca/

Here's another that sells it in snacks:

www.cocoavia.com/goodnessknows

There's a handful of companies selling organic chocolate, but organic doesn't mean that the chocolate hasn't been processed with alkali, ya know? Just that its been sustainably farmed and nothing chemically has been added. Heartwarming, but what about the antioxidants?

Frankly I'm thinking a chocolate company that makes healthy chocolates at a decent price has the potential to make a killing. There's a definite market for it... but lack of competition has the prices sky high and made it inconvenient to purchase.

Off my soapbox! ha

hey Vegan!

Found this info:
There are 60 calories in 1 serving of Innovative Life Sciences Heart Chocolate with CMX.
Calorie breakdown: 58% fat, 36% carbs, 6% protein.

From this site:

Here's a link to their website where you can find out more info:

The ingredients are as follows... I for one was curious what sweetner was used, cuz we all know that chocolate in its native form is NOT sweet:

Maltitol, cocoa butter, cocoa powder processed with alkalai, chocolate liquor, cocoa powder, milk fat, soy lecithin, natural flavors.

From this site: www.ontarionutrition.ca/product_info

Maltitol is a sugar alcohol.. not bad unless you get too much which means loose bowels and intestinal discomfort. Here's something about maltitol:

My other concern is that the cocoa powder is processed with alkali, which strips the chocolate of its beneficial properties.

"Natural Flavors" can include gluten.
