I have 2 Kitchenaides-new; 1 BlendTec and I'm buying my Vitamix next month, 2 standard older blenders. Oh, and some smaller new ones for small batches or little quickie fixings. I also have 2 food processors.

Remember gal, I'm setting up another business for raw food demos, etc. This isn't just because I like tech toys, which I do of course! LOL

Ruthe, small kitchens are a challenge. I'm sure you'll find the right appliance.

Erin, darn it girl! I knew you'd know the answer to my delima. I owe you.

...when I first got my kitchenaide, I also had issues with the bottom. But it was me not the machine. I have to hold it firmly against me with the handle down and the base with the other, and twist it hard and then it would snap in. It took me a bit to get the hang of the fast rhythm to snap into place. Now it is nothing. Order an extra gasket when you can to have on hand, as with using the ice mode so much it wore out after about a thousand uses LOL

Thanks Erin. The ninja I saw was the a little cheaper than getting a small food processor and a compact blender like the bullet. I have a tiny kitchen with very little work space for having appliances sitting on them.

That's good to know Erin. There are several Youtube videos that use blenders to make green smoothies. My blender just gave out yesterday, wouldn't you know it on 1/1/12! It was a nice one but it was one of my spares. I have 2 other blenders and my new Kitchenaide. I am having problems with the base going onto the bottom portion and am waiting for the new jar to come to see if what I have is defective.

I have a smaller blender that is supposed to be like a Ninja but haven't used it yet. Thanks for the post, I'm glad that the Ninja is so good and yes, hold out for the additional warranty.

I saved $20 off my juicer at JC Penneys the other day because I asked if they had a discount I didn't know about. They did!

I use quart and they work just fine.
Ninja, I actually sat at a test of one the other day and it looked great. The woman made coconut butter, almond butter, green smoothies, also snow comes and ice cream. If I wasn't saving for a vita I would have bought one. I say thumbs up from what I saw. I use a kitchen aide and I love it. Mine has 5 speed and two settings for pulse on any of them and a ice setting. I really like it. I have used it everyday and sometimes several times a day and it does me great. But I also have an excellent food processor. But the processor on the Ninja seemed to work really well when she made the coconut butter and nut butter as well. I also have youtubed them, which you might want to and check them out for yourself.
Hope this helped. Oh by the way hold out for the 5 year warranty of you order it from them. The stores only offer a 1 or 2 year, but push them because I saw a late night add for them offering a 5 year for no extra cost, with an in home pick up.

One more. This time a question.

My blender doesn't seem to be good enough for good consistency smoothies. I was looking into a replacement at the store yesterday. I can't afford a VitaMix. I saw a Ninja at the store. It has a good size pitcher and a 1 cup food processor attachment I could use for nuts, grains and flax seed. Ever heard of it?

What size mason jars do you use for sprouting? I have 1/2 pints, pints and quarts. And should I cover the jars with cheesecloth and a rubber band, I have a terrible time with dust - even in the winter.

Erin, that is so strange, I'm doing exactly the same thing. I won't buy a blender with a plastic containter. The high-speed ones are food safe. I just purchased new mason jars for storage and for sprouting.

I have the same blender as Yvonne, I have ran it hard every day for a year now and even sometimes two and three times a day. After many hours of use I recently had to replace the gasket, the little white one, that you have to wash off when cleaning. It cost me a whole $5.95. I love it. For hard things like carrots, I use the ice pulse setting to break it down first. It is by far one of my favorite things. I travel with it and it has a glass pitcher instead of plastic which I like. I try and avoid plastic even though they are safe on most blenders. I just like it better.
I went out the other day and bought glass mason jars and also glass flip lid jars to put most of my foods in. Things like left overs, homemade nut and seed butter, dressings, smoothies, juices, so on and so on. I am trying to rid my home of plastic.
Good Luck and enjoy!

I would wait awhile just to see reviews of this product. I know that Montel's 1st blender flopped. It kept breaking, I know so many people that returned them. I am very happy with my Kitchenaide and it does everything his blender says it will do.

I don't juice because I hate cleaning my juicer but I liquefy it in my Kitchenaide. It always comes out nice and creamy. I have the Kitchenaid KSB580 Blender.

I've seen a lot of bad press about that one, but it could be great. I use a BlendTec which is an investment. I drink smoothies daily and needed to have a sure bet. I'm also going to get another good one: a Vitamix.

I recently saw Montel Williams' infomercial about his emulsifier. It makes sense that preparing a green drink with an emulsifier would be more nutritional than juicing or blending. Before I buy an emulsifier though, I'd like to ask if anyone is using one? Do you find that it makes a difference? Thanks.
