I have nachos and salsa right now along with some nuts and cranberries. Just finished Zumba on the Wii. I love it. Even if I wake up tonight, there will be nothing for me to eat. I am so excited about sleep tonight since I didn't get much last night.

Sorry I have not had time to check in. I had training this week at work and also I am fighting a cold. I did good a few nighs on not eating and not so good on the others! I was thinking that we need to start a sp group with this challenge as the goal (to not do it!)

Up until 2AM, made a pot of coffee and had the rest of dinner before I finally went to bed, can't believe I gained 1.5 #, I didn't eat that much earlier, but apparently you can't eat right before a late bedtime, fill up on liquid and weigh yourself early in the morning and expect not to gain

Well, I ate in the middle of the night Friday night and had a pbj at 12:30am last night but am back on track for tonight! I am going to commit to going to bed early and getting up at 5am so I can exercise before work this week. I have training all week (underwriting ) It is a new skill so I will be stressed!

I know I can do it though.
We are to week four of the challenge, yeahhhhhh!

I am trying to move towards fresh fruit right before bed, maybe something sweeter. than only water for the rest of the night. i realize it doesn't matter when i eat, except that depending on what i eat, it sits in my belly and i can't sleep well. i already have issues with not being able to sleep very well. i don't need food to add onto it. Last night only one biscotti and finished the almond milk. In the middle of the night, it was a conscious choice to have two squares of dark chocolate with water. Have paid for these sweets.

Last night had 2 squares of 70% cacao dark chocolate (120 calories) in the middle of the night....dark choc. doesn't call to me the way milk choc. does. Good Luck tonight. I am in California. I ma having the same problem. I used to work night shift so most of my caloric intake was during the nighttime hours. Now I'm working day shift, I eat right during the day and then consume lots of calories (snacks) at night. Before going to bed tonight, I had a large chocolate bare. I've been trying to get off of chocolate for some time now. Right now my stomach is talking to me, but I am responding by eating an apple.

I can't wait to get past the hunger pangs of night time eating. I don't want all of my hard work to go to naught. So,please send the encouragement my way.

I had two small handfuls of cashews during the night. But I did splurge on dessert (thank goodness it wasn't my usual large splurge). Anyway I had a couple of bites of banana cream cheese cake out for dinner last night (my son ate most of it). Then I had 3 pecan caramels on the way home and a biscotti before bed.

Another great idea. Planning calories and snacks to eat in the middle of the night takes the guilt out of it and takes the "sneak" out of it too. (Sneaking on myself is pretty funny in a weird way!) Okay, more honesty, I ate in the middle of the night plus right before bed too. Oh well, tonight is another night. I love this sight too!

On another note, i finished my cardio and am about to do my last video of the week. It's good to talk with y'all.

I'm also a night eater, so you are not alone. I "save" some of my snack calories for nighttime and then set aside specific snacks before I go to bed. Usually one small savory snack and one sweet so that I don't rummage around and make bad decisions. I really like the almond milk idea, though. Think I'll give it a try!

My big suggestion if you dont stay asleep...I say move your snacks to that period. remember
it doesnt matter when the calories are consumed

Carve out what is most important to you first, then allocate your day to others! I promise you and they will be better for this decision!!

I know, I wake up alot in the middle of the night too. I don't drink caffeine after 7 am but I still get up to go to the restroom at least three times a night. I think the night eating is also worse when I am overstressed.

We have a Trader Joe's coming to the Dallas area and I will definitely try the almond milk.

I told my husband I was going to chain myself to him to keep out of the kitchen in the middle of the night lol emoticon

I can't believe I found this great site. I, too, am a night eater. When I wake up it is a feeling I get that I can't go to sleep again unless I have something to eat. Lately, I have had pretty good luck having a glass of almond milk before bed and another one if I wake up hungry or thirsty at night. You can get almond milk at Trader Joe's for 60 calories a cup. I read you posts and you have some really good ideas. I like the idea of water or relaxing tea, but then I wake up at night too many times. emoticon

Thanks for the ideas. I had a snack bar at 2am but that was all. I know, it was something but
not as bad as I have done before. I will keep on keeping on.

I have to admit I have done this since I was young. Some nights I can make it through withou eating. When I take my medicine at night I usually eat a little something. Usually, I can do ok. Good luck.

I used to nosh allll night...
terrible habit.
Not only did it contribute to my weight problem,
but it aggravated my acid reflux issue.

It is indeed difficult to break, but here's what worked for me:
VERY intentionally track food calories at the nutrition counter.
Make sure I ate healthfully all day,
BUT had a snack either in the morning or afternoon.
NO meals, snacks or anything but water after dinner.
As all my calories were consumed by dinner, no excuse to eat.

Instead of sitting on couch with family watching tv,
I did things with my hands:
did sudoko puzzles,
gave myself manicures and pedicures,
took up kniting and counted cross stitch,
long bubble baths,
and drank water.
I cleaned out my closet,
re-arranged my jewelry boxes,
scrap booked...
brushed the kitties...
AND did extra fitness videos and yoga.

busy, stay busy.

I stress eat at home..and at night. Both are triggers for me. I have found that exercising like we have in small spurts in the early evening helps me...as it distresses me and is a good motivator and it takes up time that I would have used normally to "stress eat" at night.

Against most nutritionists' advice, I started eating right before bed when I had this problem. Usually something with protein, but not always healthy (ice cream, peanut butter and banana sandwich). I stopped my night eating and slowly moved back my last meal time. Now I stock up on water to help keep me full and not notice my night hunger as much. When I wake up in the middle of the night now I take a sip of cool water and can usually get back to sleep quickly.

I am a night eater too. I finally settle down and relax late at night and then....bam I start eating. I need help!

Okay, I am going to tell on myself. I have always had a problem with eating in the middle of the night. Before I go to bed I tell myself I will not do it but almost every night I do. Does anyone else have this problem or have a solution to it?

I am also posting this because I am committing to NOT doing it tonight and reporting how I do to ya'll tommorrow emoticon emoticon
