Hello everyone! I will be starting on the first and will be adding this to my morning aerobics 3x a week and my C25K training the other 3 days with a wonderful resting Sunday. I'm hoping this will be the kick in the pants I need. I've been working out steadily for the past two months and have gained 5 pounds...which is really bad when I would like to lose 100 or so.

I joined the Water 4 Kids Virtual 5k taking place the third week in September!
Come run with me! teams.sparkpeople.com/water4kids

Ok! I put the link to the January Jumpstart page in my calendar to pop up every day and remind me to get my booty in gear :) I run 3-4 times a week already and will bike 2 days a week for my cardio, that plus the videos and some food tracking and I hope to be on track to lose 30 lbs in 2012, and more importantly keep that weight off!

Look forward to getting to know you all.

My goal is to establish some routines and helpful tips to be successful with my weight loss plan. I have a few goals that I want to attain through out the year. My first mile stone is January 27th, my graduation from college.

I want to drink more water
Become more active by exercising 5-7 days a week for an hour or more a day
Eating smaller / healthier portions

Taking back my control and my power and not allowing food to have power over me. I want to be in control of my health and happiness and not find fulfillment in what I eat, but what I am able to overcome!!

Wow!! Day 1 is some workout and I do think it may be one of my favorite Coach Nicole's videos ....it really gave me a workout even though I have to do it seated and I got kinda lost a couple times, but I figure as time goes on, I will get better ...:) good start to the challenge.:0

I was in the same boat as someone else mentioned--planned to start January 1 but saw the wisdom of accepting today as the start date. I have kep up with the exercise portion of my lifestyle but need to get the food back under control after a holiday season of party party party. Yesterday was good; with the many fewer carbs and more water, a whole pound of water melted (or maybe --dripped as in water) off. The cardio video looks deadly. If I post tomorrow, it means I lived through it, Nicole.

If it's not hunger, food won't fix it.

I joined this Challenge when I got an e-mail about it but thought it started the 1st. I will do the video's this week to get myself started again but won't officially start the program till the first so that I can stay on track with it all. I have really stepped back in to my old habits and thought this Challenge would help jump start some new and healthier habits.

Lord give me the strength to stop procrastinating and start doing something about my weight and health before it's too late. AMEN!!

I have been sparking hard core since August 2011, and since then have lost 30 lbs but I still have another 25lbs to go and the holiday season has seriously derailed my weight loss efforts. I have been going to the gym the last 3 weeks and I can honestly say that if I hadn't been to the gym I would have easily gained 10lbs! So I've been maintaining for the last month mostly and that is okay except I am supposed to be losing for my other winter challenge team but this week and next week is our last week and I am gonna hit them out of the park!!! I am really looking forward to hitting 185lbs soon and then only 20lbs till goal!!! I have been doing plenty of cardio so with this challenge I am hoping to get in some good strength training!!!! Good luck to you all and I will be waiting to start this on January first!!! But I am still getting in my regular cardio and some strength training with Jillian's 30 day Shred!!

great way to jumpstart the new year. I always make resolutions for the new year, but usually forget them before the month is over. Though since I've been at SP, I've been a lot better about that. After all, with the spark streaks, you gotta be consistent. A lot of things have gone on in my life this past year and I have not been as focused as I should be and will be this coming year, starting now.

My goals for January are:
1. at least 30 minutes Strength Training 6 x a week, following the daily videos as well as my own schedule that I have set up. Some from former challenges. I have done several of the challenges before and it always helps me to stay focused.
2. At least 30 minutes of cardio daily, usually with Leslie Sansone dvd, which I have to do, seated.
3. Track my food daily. It does help me see where I am going wrong, even when I over indulge.
4. Start a Spark Streak with my fitness minutes.
5. Remember to stay on track with my trigger foods, such as M&M peanuts. So far, I have made 26 days without eating any; I plan on extending that to all of January as well. I had thought to change that, but I just decided to go for it. :)

Time to reinvigorate my life! Ive been away for Spark People for a while now. Luckily, I've not gained a bunch of weight or diverged greatly in my health, but I definitely feel the need to "find" my healthy habits again. This challenge will help me do that and recommit myself to Sparking. My goals this week are to restart an exercise habit (rather then the hit-or-miss style I've been doing for the last several months), and track my food at least 3 days this week. I will start with TODAY!! :-)

I bet you can find warmers that plug into your car lighter - similar to coolers...make a hot meal and keep it warm in your car...Also, change up your salads (quinoa, couscous, etc instead of lettuce)...I don't know if a warmer exists - it just makes sense that it would...I used to have a baby bottle warmer for my babies so there should be a food warmer out there...Hope that helps...

Also, not all fast food is bad...as my best trainer in the world Jo Dumont says - leave off the sauce...Grilled chicken burger no sauce with extra veg...Subway...I'm canadian so don't know all the choices you have...The research is on SparkPeople for healthy fast food choices!

Good luck!

I started the challenge today because I feel like a slug and haven't lost any weight in over a month. I can't wait for January 1! I did a 30-minute Walk Away the Pounds video, plus the 8-Minute Athletic Intervals SP video. I already feel better. It's amazing how a workout can instantly make you feel healthier. I'll be getting another 30 minutes in later when I walk the dog. I also tracked my food. I've been slacking on that lately and it's showing on the scale. Time to buckle down and get serious...again!

I need to get back to tracking and planning my food better. How do other people handle eating on the road? I don't like fast food choices, but often my "lunch" is my drive time from one school to another, or sitting in my car in the parking lot before I go in. I get so tired of cold sandwiches or salads on cold, wintry days. Any ideas? I need to have a plan that does not include Big Macs~ I always tell myself I will get a different choice, but guess what comes out of my mouth? (and into my mouth). emoticon

I just joined the team today and hadn't really planned to start the challenge immediately -- I was thinking it would start in January. However, since it automatically made today my start day, I'm going with it. There's really no reason for me to delay starting...after all, isn't procrastination what gets us into trouble so often?

Happy to be doing the challenge with you all. I'm off to check on today's video now.

I just joined. I need a challenge to get back into it. This looks like it's just the ticket. :) Around thanksgiving time I gained 5lbs but have lost it again. With Christmas I gained around 5lbs again. *sigh* Now I need to loose it again. I've lost 80lbs this year. My goal for 2012 is to loose another 40 to get me to my final goal.

So short term goals are:
30 minutes of cardio each day & track it
1 of the 10 minute videos each day & track it
increase my water intake (I'm horrible about drinking my water)
Track all my food daily (I've been getting out of this habit) :(

Good luck to all of us!! We can do this! :)

I won't be starting until the first, but my goals will be to follow the plan exactly, including the cardio every weekday, and to do much better on the nutritional content of my food than I have been lately. I've been eating in calorie range, but not always the best food, and I want that to change. That's my biggest goal in starting.

I'm usually really terrible at tracking my food even tough I follow a meal plan that I've created for myself! This week my goal is to track all the food I eat every day. This morning I weighed in at 219.4 - ouch! That is just below my highest weight ever. I'm going to be taking body measurements today, and I plan on getting in 30 minutes of walking each day on top of the daily workout videos! I feel like I can DO this! emoticon

Loved the new workout videoemoticon

WOW!! Your post could have been written by me. I too have a problem with consistency, which is why I thought I would try this. Good luck!

I have signed up for the Jumpstart Challenge. My short term goal is to complete the tasks for eah day. Medium goal finish each week. Long range goal is to complete the challenge. I have trouble with consitency. If I don't work out first thing in the mroning my day gets away from me. I have to make me and fitness a priority.

i start back at the gym on the 3/1/12 and hope to go 3-5days a week which main focus will probably b a low weight at high reps. I do like the idea of doin an exercise dvd (or xbox kinetics) up to 5-6days a week. one day on weekend each week we have our family day which we usually end up goin on a walking track at the beach or equilivant.
i hope to get my diet and exercise back on track 2012 :)

I'm starting while on vacation myself. My goal is to follow the challenge exactly as it's written, 1 video each day and attend Curves 3x a week. By starting this week, I get the opportunity to plan better, and get dates on the calendar so I don't miss. I realized lately the reason I've been struggling is because I haven't made a plan nor had I tracked my food.

Now to follow the challenge...

I am actually on holidays this week, so meeting the Week 1 goals shouldn't be too hard. I plan on starting with the videos in the morning....will let you know how it goes!
