Well, I was hoping for better, but got sidetracked by the holiday and weekend. Now why do I eat more when my husband is home? Anyway down 2 lbs from last post here so that makes 65 for the team. I would love to join your four month challenge Spiralwriter. I sure need to get motivated somehow. That would have us so much closer to our goals. That's onlly 7 1/2 pounds a month.

Hi all,

My weigh in day is today, and I'm down two more pounds. That gets the total for the team up to 63! We're going for a long walk today, so who knows, I might get just a little more by in the morning...

I've done a couple of 30 pounds in four month challenges, and the one starting tomorrow goes until May Day. I'd love to have company on that one!

Well, I lost all I gained over the couple of weeks I was stressed out so maybe part of it was water, but anyway, 6 lbs down for me. Makes 46 for the group?

I would like to do this too, but I don't know what I weighed the end of October, so I'll just start where I was last Monday. OK? This is cool, nothing like how much exercise I did when everyone else is working out for 3 hours or day or such. That stuff makes me feel old I guess, cause I just can't do it.

Hi all,

We were driving back from Atlanta on Monday so I didn't weigh in, and as usual after a trip I was up on Tuesday. I checked again this morning though, and I think I'm FINALLY going in the right direction again! I'll wait for an official post on Monday, but even with the holiday I feel pretty good. Normal food levels today, partly because we had vegetarian Indian food instead of turkey, and we have a big hike planned for tomorrow, maybe a long bike ride some time this weekend.

In any case, happy thanksgiving, whatever that means to you, and have a wonderful weekend!

Hello all/..having a hard time staying on track. I am hitting a real low right now. both financally and mentally. this time of year is always hard for me with these issues. I lost my mom, and 2 grandpas in the same week same year and it hits me real hard in feb. food is my evil right now.

I need to take some time to revamp my situation and make it better for choices at home.

Hi all,

Much better weigh in this week! I went from 270 to 267.8, so that's 2.2 pounds. We've been doing a lot of tough hiking this week too, so I hope it will be even better next week.

If I'm doing the math right, and I might not be because I haven't had my green tea yet today, that gets the team total up to 20.3!

It wasn't to hard to cut soda from my diet. I do occasionally take a sip from a friends glass or pour myself a small amount for flavor.

I'm with you on the soy milk Spiralwriter. I don't like regular milk. I don't like the taste. I also find it a little weird that we are the only species that drink milk after infancy, another animals milk at that. I bought Enhanced Silk Soy with Omega-3's. Its damn tasty. I did have goats milk yogurt with my lunch today and I have to say that was pretty good. Lots of probiotics :)

Another topic I'd like to bring up is getting enough vegetables. I like to get the Birdseye Steamfresh bags of mixed veggies. I have the whole bag for lunch and I get a huge chunk of my veggie requirements out of the way. Frozen fruit in oatmeal works well in the morning too.

I have to say I've been eating really well today. Focusing alot on getting fiber and protien and I haven't snacked a bit. The right mix really does work.

Sorry for rambling I have alot of energy and I'm really excited about my eating habits today.

Hi all,

Well, it never seems to miss a weigh in day, TOM strikes again! So I'm holding steady this week, and hopefully with all the water weight gone next week will be a much better result.

So still 4 pounds for the team!

I agree on the soda, it's not only a terrible hindrance to losing and maintaining weight, it's just terrible in general. I never drank much so it wasn't tough for me, but DH struggles with it and I have a few other family members who drink FAR too much. My solution has been adding lemon juice, lime juice, and liquid stevia to my tap water. It cuts all of the slightly funky flavor, and I get that refreshing citrus flavor for essentially zero calories.

I'm a soy milk person too, can't stand the flavor of cow's milk. About the only other thing I drink is green tea in the morning, and when I need it and can get it, a good soy latte!

So I guess I have a question - when are we doing our weigh in once a week; on which day?

On the pop (soda) issue I can't handle carbonation of any kind so I stay away from that stuff, My downfall was drinking too much fruit juice even if it was 100% juice at about 100 - 175 calories a glass it adds up. I try to stick with water and tea, if I was drinking the other stuff I would weight so much more, especially when I have my inactive times.

Since starting spark people I have made quite a few changes in my eating. I consume a lot less meat. In fact I only eat meat when I go out. And Coke is almost non existent in my life. I don't even have that when I go out. I have also cut way back on cheese. I make a point of only having that once a week. And I have stopped eating in the evening. That is a big thing for me.

I never really liked colas all that much. And ever since I read about the meat and dairy industry and how the animals are tortured. not to mention what their waste is doing to our river and lakes and land.I am not drinking milk at all. I switched to the organic soy, I dont know if it is anybetter for you but at least it made with mostly soy beans.
This book a friend gave me is Called (Skinny Bitch) and after reading it. I really believe a lot of what it says is right on. Anyway didnt mean to get all crazy, Check it out though, some of the stuff in the book is worth looking into. You know what they say you are what you eat. and if my body is a temple why would I want to fill it with garbage.

Yes, I've read that all colas (diet or not) deteriorate the bones. Since I have a degenerative form of arthritis, I don't need that problem!! I am trying to make the switch to more iced tea, water, and milk (I don't get enough milk). But I LOVE my DR Pepper emoticon

I just had a Dr. appt. today and found out I have gained 5 lbs, so my starting weight will be 235.
I am even going to try cutting down on soda, that seems to be my biggest problem.

We've never had a challenge with this group before, so I thought we might try one. But I know that alot of people are in challenges with their other teams as well - so I didn't want to propose a stringent challenge.

My thought was that we start today (Halloween, "our" New Year) and try to lose 2008 lbs as a group by Jan 1st (calendar new year). If all (nearly) 500 members join in, that's only 4lbs/person, I'm sure we can manage it, even if we don't get 100% participation. Just think of it - the Pagan Place team would be a TON lighter!
