Hmmm. If we can get a few people to commit to it, we can... we can do them any length of time, it's easy to modify the spreadsheet. We just found it was tough to be doing it with only two people, especially since one of them (me) had surgery in the middle of the challenge and couldn't do much.

Should we set one up for September? September-October? Slimmer By Samhain?

Well, I guess that's it for this Challenge. I should be starting another one, but am not encouraged by how this one went -- and the next Challenge period covers the holidays, when we have usually had low participation and disappointing results (due to family-encourage eating habits, and it being too cold to do a lot of types of exercise). So I guess we'll get a new startup in February... unless I'm really asked to do something earlier.

I note that there are 100 fewer messages in this Challenge than last, and, other than a new points record being set last Challenge, it was not the biggest participation compared to past Challenges. Some of this is my fault. Wahh wahh wahh LOL. See you at Imbolc with a new Challenge!

If you have participated, openly or in secret, please post your points and I'll try to remember to issue awards as usual.

I got 300 points this Challenge, including losing over 10 pounds. Have not built the habits of good exercise, but have to rejoice for the weight loss.

I'm happy to report that, by virtue of losing another 1.5 pounds, I am now at 300 points for this Challenge. Still am not allowed to do any exercise. I'm at 231, another new low for the past 13 years. So while I'm not really able to participate in the Challenge as much as I'd like, I *am* getting Leaner by Lammas.

I don't know, I sent out two or three more spreadsheets. Nobody got back to me to ask how they work.

I'm still losing weight. I'm 232.5 this morning, that might be my lowest ever in the past 12 years. I'm not going to lose that 80 pounds I joked about, but it's a start.

I hope you are feeling alright after your surgery. Don't overthink that you can do no excercise atm, there are other important things that matter more :)
I'm sorry that I didn't update my points yet, will do after the weekend - just too much stuff going on with exams. Where are those other people who wanted to join? We're waiting for you :)

I weigh 235 today. I can't do cardio, I can't do weights. So all I have to do is lose 80 more pounds in the next couple of weeks and I can win this Challenge! LOL

I was right about losing weight. The Love Diet didn't work because my sweetie tends to overfeed me, but the Breakup Diet combined with the Surgery Diet and the Depression Diet (no food, nobody around to help me) has resulted in a loss of 6.5 pounds from my low -- so another 65 points, with no exercise and lots of stress and pain. I don't recommend this.

But my current weight is 236.5, which means I broke the dreaded 240 barrier, yayy!!!

I now have 243 points in this challenge. Not close to my best, but boy, have I had challenges this challenge.

Hehehe, you're the only one who would need to reset. I'd like you to be able to keep your points. There is still plenty of time to catch you if anyone wants to buckle down to the challenge.

I'm really out of it for now. The only way I can get points is by losing weight, which with as much help as I've been getting since the surgery should be easy. (like, almost none)

why don't we just reset the challenge then. I mean, maybe others are scared to start right now because it has been going on for so long now, which means that the competitive spirit is kinda gone when you start almost one month behind on points.

Since you just got in last week, just start tracking from there, or even from today.

I did get over an hour of walking in -- of necessity, as my car broke down and we needed groceries. So I'll have 7 points to report this week at least.

My surgery was Wednesday morning, so no walking or strength exercises for 6-8 weeks of recovery. Looks like I'm done for this Challenge.

We need to look ahead to the next Challenge -- do we have enough, or can we get enough, activity to justify doing another right now? Things have gone way down since our Challenge which ended Imbolc, except for the Challenge ending Beltane when one person set a new record and another person's score was about as high as we've seen.

I like doing these, but I haven't been the best participant myself for a while.

im sorry guys, i have been soooo busy these past few weeks, i havent been able to work out, track food, or sit down for awhile! i run a motel and its getting into the busy season. Usually i have more help in the summer, but my boyfriend is working 50+ hours a week this year (much better job now) so im alone with most of it now. But i havent gained any back, working this much keeps it off too i guess, heh. i will post as soon as i can catch up!

I understand. I'm still in the middle of moving, although my surgery is next week... which means no cardio or strength work for me for 6-8 weeks. My total right now is a measly 174.

It certainly is a good way to keep yourself accountable, though I think it would be more of a push if one could compete with more people. I'm a really competitive person after all. But I guess it's ok to just try to compete with the points of the previous week.

Good tip, Amanda.

I've been running back and forth (104 miles each way) every weekend to spend with my fiancee. This weekend it turned out that her Internet has been turned off (behind on payment), so I lost my perfect record of logging in. Oh well. Over the next 45-60 days I will be moving to her place, with the intent of getting our financial acts together and moving back over to this side of the mountains.

Have to catch up on my spreadsheet again. Falling behind.

For anyone who's interested, my tip would be to challenge yourself to do some strengthening reps every day. They can be squeezed in during commercial breaks, if you watch TV; you don't have to go to the gym to get some in. Crunches and push-ups (wall, floor, knees) require no equipment. Hand weights or resistance bands/cords are a modest investment; in their place use anything from soup cans to gallon jugs!

It's ok, I won't catch up with my points this week either I guess. My knees still can't take my usual routine so I have to take it slowly. Though my body tends to heal really quickly from things like that, I might have overworked them a lot this time ... damn those bad shoes, always invest in some good ones, really.
So are we the only ones taking up this challenge or are there others that just don't post their progress atm? Maybe some of the new members (I'm new too, c'mon!) still want to join? C'mon people, there's a lot of time until Lammas, you can do it! :)
