You have the willpower. You're probably using it up on too many other things. Always room to simplify. Just keep trying, and you will succeed -- quit trying, and you are guaranteed to fail.

I have to catch up my spreadsheet totals again, but will try to post tonight. What I'm most thrilled about, during this 13-week challenge--aside from building the habit of supporting teammates and Spark Friends--is my weight loss! Even though my energy and points have slacked off a bit the last few weeks (feeling rather disenchanted & disppointed with my job right now), I have continued to lose weight. In fact, last week I hit the 30 pounds lost mark, then this week I dropped another pound, bringing my challenge loss to 11 pounds. It took me a few days to post that change on my tracker, and I realized if I had dropped 2 more pounds, that would be 13 pounds lost in 13 weeks--and it happened! For the second day in a row (so it's not a fluke), I've weighed 181.8 (I bought a digital scaled a few weeks ago, though I'm mainly recording full pounds)! 182.5 was the half-way point to my goal weight, so I'm now officially more than halfway there!!

That was so cute! The Love Diet is working some. I ate more than usual yesterday (comfort food for leaving my sweetie after a great weekend) and still weigh within a half-pound of my low for this Challenge.

My points right now are 251. I could easily have had 100 more points this week if I just had tried.

I have 3 more nights alone and then 3 more with my love. This is going to be rough, I hope our move-in date is closer to June 1 than August 1.

I totally felt like emoticon my emoticon last night, because it was misbehaving so badly! emoticon Instead I ended up turning it off and going to emoticon . Alas, no Love Diet for me--not for a long time. emoticon But the state agency I work for has a Wellness committee that has launched a fitness challenge called Go!, which I've joined. The goal is to eat less and move more by cutting 100 discretionary calories a day and getting 30 minutes of exercise at least 4 days a week. I haven't been tracking nutrition outside of my water, fruits and veggies; can't really abide calorie counting. But I've been more mindful of choices, and have consistently declined high-cal scones, chips, desserts when offered this week, and substituted Trader Joe's roasted Seaweed Snacks for higher call options. It's paying off--I dropped 2 pounds this past week! emoticon Sort of makes up for not spinning more than 5 points this week, and my lack of romantic workouts! emoticon

LOL Y'all are as crazy as I am. I had a good day Sunday, got some cardio and lifting in. I'm at 227 total right now.

I believe I have finally found That One Woman. Unfortunately, she lives closer to where I just moved from than where I live now, but that's still close enough for visits now and again. She is also quite willing to more. She has a handicapped friend she cares for, but he's willing to move to. I think their lease runs out in August, so we're going to start looking in June.

I'm also having a contract issue with my employer, Damnation Books, LLC, and they are trying to solve it by bullying me and thinking I'll just back down. Sorry, wrong guy. If I don't have a new contract from them, resolving the issue, by May 1, I will be leaving the job June 1. This will give me more time for my sweetie, and less stress. The amount of money I will be losing could be made up for with 5 hours per week at Taco Bell. Yeah, the job was fun and the title was cool, but it's too much drama for too little return.

Asilla...Just a quick FYI...Poison Ivy can pop up any time. The oils will remain on clothing , tool handles, etc. from one season to the next if items are not cleaned before being storage in between seasons. Found this out the hard way myself. Was cleaning the garden shed without wearing gloves so was handling everything from garden clogs to tools to an old shirt I would wear while doing yard work or walking in the woods. The result...Yep, you guessed it...I ended up with a good case of the itchies.....Feel Better.

With the cold weather, I have not gotten out and walked this week. Today it's nice enough, but it's payday and I'm doing my usual stressing out paying bills. Don't think it will happen today.

Thanks for the support, Emme. I'm getting there. I also want members of this group to see that all of us are just like them, have the same kinds of challenges. I get so sick of those exercise commercials that show people who likely never gained a pound of fat using their machines. I want to see a commercial with Greatest Loser types losing it and shaping up. But of course, those machines don't work, or at least don't work like they say they do, so they can't do that.

The only way out of the mess I'm in is hard work and concern. That breaks down from time to time, and I have to begin again, hopefully with better habits learned from previous struggles.

I was feeling literally "under the weather" yesterday. The cold, rainy day seeped into me. I had (fortunately or not) completed all the pressing tasks I had at hand, and just sat around feeling gloomy. This caused stress, and I went out and fed it -- Krystal Dinner #3, five cheese Krystals and chili cheese fries.

And heck, you can join the challenge from now until Beltane, if you want! You don't have to wait until May to start the next one. (I'm guessing there will be one from Beltane to Lammas or Lugnasa.) I got out for a long walk today, 60 minutes. My longest so far. Taken 4 walks, might be increasing too much, I think I'll hold at this level for now. I am exhausted. Came home, took a shower, and Meade had dinner ready. == Our refrigerator died, and she made a good meal for the 5 of us (her daughter is visiting) out of what might have spoiled if we left it much longer. New refrigerator arrives tomorrow.

Now if I can remember to do my situps or weights today, I'll get my 5 bonus points pretty easily.

I'm happy to share that I went to the gym for the first time in quite a while during my lunch break, today. It was rough. I hopped on the elliptical -- something that I have feared and never tried in the past. That was a tough workout for me. My plan was for 20 minutes, but I completed 15 minutes. All in all, it was a baby step in the right direction.

I hope that the nicer weather helps you get your groove back!!!

Don't worry. Keep doing the work and watching the food going in. You'll get there.

My weight is back around the 245 range. Before the holidays, I was getting closer to 230. But I also did not maintain my exercise over that period. So now that we have nice weather, I'll see if I can't get down to 220 by late Fall and gain less than 10 pounds over next Winter.

I just barely remembered to do my weight work before bed, so I collected my two lousy bonus points! LOL So 2 good work days this week. Also spending enough time on my inversion table. I need to add in one of my situp thingies to work on my half-keg.

I got my new inversion table a couple days ago. This is good for me. I haven't been able to see a chiroquacktor since my move in September, but this table seems to be doing as much or more for me as the chiroquacktor did. I'll keep you informed. I need to get another walk in today, but have to do it before leaving for Knoxville for a healing circle with friends. Might not talk myself into it in time.

Well, I just got back from a Scottish Country Dance workshop in Portland. Danced on Saturday from 10 - 4 with a small, healthy lunch and then a small dinner before the ball that evening where I danced from about 7.30-11.30.
Drove home on Sunday and then had my regular 2 hour dance class on Monday night before my run.
In spite of that I ate enough junk in the car there and back over the weekend that I didn't lose any weight at all.

However, I'm doing pretty good in general. Not making the progress some of you guys are on here, but I'm very happy with what I've done so far.

Keeping track as best as I can I've got 328 points so far and I'm holding steady at between 165 and 168. (Varies from day to day.

I keep an umbrella in my desk at work, since I won't let rain keep me from my 10-minute walk breaks. Here in the Seattle area, that would be a *lot* of missed opportunities! Walking comprises a lot of my cardio points, along with the elliptical machine at the gym (easy on the knees) and a very low impact aerobic workout tape, now that I've liberated enough of the living room floor to actually work out on!

I was going to post a revision to last week's numbers, but was having computer issues for several days, though nothing like yours, Moss. I'm so sorry for the technical hassles. At least it sounds like you know what you're doing, whereas me--not so much. Last Sunday I hadn't done any strengthening exercises when I reported. But having challenged one of my Babysteps Brigade Buddies to get in 5 minutes of exercise a day, even if she did it right before bed, I ended up doing some reps in my jammies before I hit the sack and turned the lights out. So my revised points for the week before are 218.

I also decided to stop weighing every day. But my high for the week was 192.5 and my low 191, so no weight points. Challenge numbers for this past week:

Well, I remember having 70 points in here, but can only reconstruct 65 of them, Neither is much to brag about.

And wouldn't you know, just when I need to do those long walks to get away from things, it starts raining for two days so far...

Looks like DreadGerbil is gunning for that silver ribbon...

I had a computer problem. The CPU was overheating. I fixed it. But while fixing it, I dropped my external hard drive (where I store all my documents, so that a computer crash doesn't take my data with it), and it is no longer working. This is not an utter disaster, because I have two such external hard drives and they were synched sometime around Feb. 1... but it means hours of going through emails and restoring files, including my bank account spreadsheet, all the new work on books for my employer, etc.

Probably will need to take some long walks to get away from it... yeah, that's the spirit!

Weight at start: 175 Lbs
Weight today: 168 Lbs

Still not doing a great job at updating this thread regularly. Have been trying to keep track of my points on the spreadsheet regularly although I'm still having some date formatting issues with open office.
Points mainly coming from strength and cardio with 2 days where I got 25 points on the wheel and 7lbs lost total since starting. (I'm just counting points on the wheel, right? Not my other tracking points.)

Unfortunately I have been terrible at supporting other folk. I am sorry! I will try to do better.

I'm down to 168 Lbs after a week of not eating very well but working out regularly. I feel like I could have dropped 4 or 5 more if I had eaten sensibly. Oh well.

Our doctor suggested my wife try to go lactose free for a month to see if it helps her skin/helps her lose weight and I have coeliac disease so I am going to join in and see if it benefits me, too. (I already learned to live without gluten.) We are starting that on Monday so we'll see what happens.

I'm glad you guys are starting to have some things look up for you!!!

I think some things are reversing. I'm down 2 pounds from my high. I've had company all week, and that has resulted in SOME exercise, doing touristy things. She's been feeding me too much, but all the walking (perhaps not at cardio levels, but the first long walks I've had since walking to the polls on Election Day) have left me exhausted. I had to buy a metal, telescoping walking stick, my back has been quite uncomfortable. (It's hard for me to say things like "I'm in a hell of a lot of pain" when I know at least two people who have had multiple back surgeries.

I hope you don't mind if I count this walking. It might get me doing more of it.

Embarrassingly, my points are at 28. I'll do a better report when I get done kicking my ass into gear. I have company this week, and I don't know whether that means more exercise or more food. Could mean both.
