I got out on my bike Monday through Friday... by Friday night I was exhausted, much like I was in the previous challenge trying to keep up with the exercising. But I got back out Monday, took Tuesday off (not by design), and will be back out on it tomorrow.
I've managed to take some mild uphills without having to get off the bike, so I'm getting better. I also went back to that meeting this Monday, and confronted all my old friends and lived through it (with all old friends still being friends). One of those friends has been essentially an energy vampire (not meaning to, and not exactly what you think of)... I not only survived the meeting, I didn't get anxiety until after the meeting when she offered me a ride home, dealt with the anxiety before getting in her car, and was fine all the way home.
Yayyy me.

I am getting braver each day, hoping to keep my new-found extra energy. (If you missed the breakthrough, I'm not sure I posted it here, but you can read about it at http://xanga.com/mordewis, from last Monday on).
Last night, I both broke out my rusty bicycle and committed to go to a meeting I used to attend but haven't for over 2 years (mental health support group I co-founded). While it turned out that I only got to ride my bike downhill (a friend with a truck gave me a ride home), it was a start.
Today I went out just for the halibut, on my bike, on a road that is mostly level. I rode a lot longer than I anticipated, but again, mostly downhill or level, but I could feel my leg muscles trying to respond to the circular pedaling motion. I also got my seat better-adjusted. On the negative side, I stopped at Sonic for less-than-healthy food.
I was further encouraged by the 263 reading on my scale this morning, that's down 7 pounds from what I have been recently and 2-3 pounds below my average.

ROFL I like that. Just make sure you use REAL tallow candles, none of this beeswax or paraffin stuff...
Of course, if you're practicing this ritual with a partner, the "lather, rinse, repeat" part could get to be fun...

I can see the rite for that challenge: we would burn tallow candles and intone:
"As the fat melts from these candles, let the fat melt from our bodies."

Actually, I got a good idea from another group, and permission to steal it. I'll let you know about it soon as I find it again and figure out what I'm going to do with it, LOL.

Perhaps a break would be best, since we all seem to be having trouble at the moment.
A good Mabon challenge may come to mind, or perhaps the next installment of 'Slim by Samhain'.
I need a break! It's been so hot and humid here I just want to lay in the A/C all day! Motivation has definitely fled elsewhere!

OK, I fell on my face on that one. All cardio, not much else. And I didn't get the new one ready in time. Should we take a break? I had some ideas for where to go from here, but... what do you think?

Thanks for joining us. A late start is probably better than my own ho-hum start. And when we're done here, we'll start over. Always hope for this time, then the next.

Okay, I have added 'em up. Like I said, I've been pushing the strength training!

This proves that I don't lose weight unless I am both doing cardio (which I don't stop doing) AND strength training -- I have done diddly of the latter this challenge, and am back to the weight I started at due to lots of cardio in the past week.

I'm also behind, but I spent the weekend having a wonderful time at ConCarolinas... I should get this updated.
Basically, I said I would start slower than last time. I surely have accomplished that... barely even gotten started. But I am going to get more serious this week.

I need to get updated on this challenge. I actually HAVE been exercising, but it's been pretty hard to count, since a lot of it was on video that didn't have a printout with exercise counts.
I have been pushing the strength exercises more, honest!

I'm back from Florida... arrived last night. I was not incredibly constructive, but I did manage to get an ouchie sunburn... breaks your heart, doesn't it? I hope to get back into a semblance of my routine, now that I am out of the clutches of the Overfeeding Greek Mother.

Note that the only change in the Challenge is the Strength Points -- you only get 8 points for 10 reps, but you can go to more points total...
Thanks for checking in Kyrddin! Good luck in Florida.

I'm going to go ahead and enter my starting weight, since I will be in Florida and away from my 'official scale' Monday morning.
Weigh-in: 182 Points for lbs lost: Pts for Strength Tr: Pts for Cardio: Pts for supporting: This week's total pts: Running total:
We are just finishing up our Buff By Beltane Challenge. Many of us have done well. Now that it's warmer out (at least for those of us not in DownUnderLand), we can get out more, and maybe put more work on our strength training.
We start on Monday (May 4), and continue through Sunday (June 21).
Here are the rules for points:
10 pts for each lb you lose (remember, if you gain lbs back, you can't claim points for losing them again -- only if you lose MORE weight than you had previously)
1 pt for every 8 reps of a Strength Training exercise - up to 200 reps or 25 pts/day (remember if you do this daily, to do a different set of muscles every other day so you don't over-train, muscle is built on your "rest" day)
1 pt for every 10 minutes of cardio up to 120 min or 12 pts/day
1 pt for every Pagan Place team member you support - max of 10/day
If it's easier for you, you can post your points here daily, or keep track and do it weekly. Please track in this format:
Weigh-in: Points for lbs lost: Pts for Strength Tr: Pts for Cardio: Pts for supporting: This week's total pts: Running total:
As before, I have a spreadsheet worked up and am willing to share with anyone who writes me at zaivalananda@gmail.com . It's a bit more developed than the last one, but just as easy to use or more so.
