I like Lithe, just because I think it's a cool word...LOL!

My ending weight is 282, which is up from my beginning weight, but I had put on about 9 lbs due to meds, so at least I'm down from there...LOL

I need encouragement to get back into the rest of my strength training routine, so I'm leaning towards 'Muscular by Midsummer'.

However, I'm willing to go with one of the other options if people prefer it.

Which is exactly why I asked... do we want to work on strength, weight, or flexibility? Any of the three will add to weight loss if done correctly... I was not planning to change the scoring system over last time, so it hardly matters.

Any of those titles would work, although it depends on your goals. To me, lithe suggests flexibility, which would require doing something like stretches (not that stretching is bad - I do a lot of that these days). 'Muscles' implies strength training. Where do you want to go with this?

Following the Summer challenge, how about 'Lean for Lammas' as the next title?

So I'm trying to think of the next challenge... this one would have worked for me if I hadn't thrown myself into it so hard at the beginning, so I like the format and the challenge itself, would think about continuing the same process. My spreadsheet (if anyone wants to use it) has been improved through working this challenge.

So what about a name? Lithe by Litha? Muscles by Midsummer? Slim by Solstice?

Whaddya think?

Starting the final week indeed! I hope to get add back in my strength training and some cardio other than my long walks this week and get ready for the next challenge.

I checked my Sparkpoints status in this group. While I am #38 in All-Time Points, I'm #84 in 2009 and #83 in April 2009... feels funny being named co-Team Leader. Kinda like that politician who was giving a speech and the crowd suddenly runs off to one side and keeps going... leaving the guy standing there shouting, "Wait for me! I am your leader!"

Well, I have punked out... but I really haven't. After I had that exhaustion a couple weeks ago, I've been treating myself better. I have kept myself away from all fast food joints and eaten much better at home... been in reasonably good spirits most of the time... and stepped on the scale today to find I've lost 3 more pounds, down to 260.5...

My totals for last week are
Weight 15 (I'll have at least 30 next week)
Strength 0
Cardio 17.4
Support 0
Weekly total 32.4
Challenge total 258.8

But here's the kicker... Crystalwolf has just asked (and I've accepted) me to be co-Leader of this Team. That leaves me stuck with trying to come up with new challenges and doing more support. I hope you'll all support me.

I was a bit reluctant to do this, as (a) I am pretty busy, (b) I have ducked all the challenges except this one, and (c) I haven't done that well this time... but y'all are a great bunch of people, and it's obvious that I've taken this challenge to heart (just need to get my body caught up, and will do better next Challenge). So here I am, take it or leave it, LOL

Actually, I was getting back on the wagon, but my body kicked my butt today. I walked to the grocery store (3/4 mi downhill), did my grocery shopping, and carried my groceries home (3/4 mile UPhill, about a 5% grade), and barely got home. After getting the groceries put away, I collapsed in my recliner for a couple hours worth of nap. I think I should take it easy for a day or two before trying to get back up on that wagon.

I really overdid it on Tuesday, and have been trying to get it back since. I'll probably only have 2/3 the points this week than I had last. (Overdid it -- was a one-man moving crew, that's lots of strength combined with cardio, and no way to stop until you're through.) I just have been walking for my cardio until last night, when I finally got back up on my Gazelle... but have been fighting with myself on getting back to the crunches.

LOL I also found out my scale is lying to me. I stepped on it this morning, and it gave me a weight a full pound lower... then I noticed I was wearing a necklace (won't get too far into this, but it probably weight enough to think about), took it off, and got back on the scale... and it read 2.5 pounds higher.

Moral of the story: Only trust your scale over a period of a week, and it gets more reliable over more weeks.

That's fair, but it adds up to exactly the same thing...

Anyhow, I'm at 73.5 points after 4 days, lots better than I thought... I'm not exactly meeting my intended goals, but I'm still going in all areas and that has to be considered a victory.

Let's say, don't penalize yourself if you gain, but when you re-lose that weight you don't get extra points for it.
Example:
Starting at 255, week 1 - 252, week 2 - 253, week 4 - 250

You'd get points at week 1 for 3 lbs lost, week 2 none, and week 4 you'd get only points for 2 lbs lost because it's 2 less than your lowest weight.

We're all on the honor system pretty much here - remember we don't need bad dieting karma for cheating on our points LOL!

I am weighing in weekly, and I think I will just edit my weigh-in post so it will be easy to find. That's what we do on another team of mine, and I find it much easier to find my own info :)

For me, this is turning into the Sore Since Ostara Challenge. I don't think I'm overdoing anything, just doing so many things at once I probably wasn't ready for. I'll try not to cut back too much.

Crystalwolf, I notice that there are no negatives... I mean, you could get the 10 or 20 points over and over again while losing the same 2 pounds (and gaining them back). I know we shouldn't be dwelling on the negative, but I'm only suggesting recognition of it. What think you?

Moss, I feel the same way. I have watched the people on FitTV and thought, "Holy $#1+! I could never do that!"

This challenge is good because a person of ANY size can participate at their current fitness level (or lack thereof) and get a decent score. It rewards effort.

Crystalwolf, one thing that is particularly refreshing about this challenge is you. Most other weight loss programs are managed by someone who weighs 120 pounds (at 5'6"). But here, we are all in this together, supporting each other.

That's what I hate about all those infomercials -- they would not convince me unless they showed clips of video of the person working out on the equipment each week, and they could still fake that, but just showing me a picture of some guy or gal with ripped abs and claiming (or often not even claiming, just letting you assume) they used this machine to do that... naw. No chance.

I celebrate the night before and May 1st myself. But whichever day works better for you is fine. We'll "officially" close it on the 2nd because that's a Saturday, (which will leave sunday free for late posters and time differences) and then we'll start the new one on Monday.

I've been trying to make things easy for everyone so they can have their own weigh-in days since I know alot of people are involved in other challenges as well. Good luck!!

I have worked up an Excel spreadsheet (also readable by OpenOffice and other open document spreadsheets) which automatically totals, daily and weekly and total points. All you have to do is enter your points in each category for each day.

So, Spring is here, and we well on our way to shorts weather. I can tell you that my thighs aren't NEAR ready for that!!

The Buff by Beltane challenge is all about helping you kick it in gear. So, we'll earn points from now until Beltane:

10 pts for each lb you lose

1 pt for every 10 reps of a Strength Training exercise - up to 200 reps or 20 pts/day
(remember if you do this daily, to do a different set of muscles every other day so you don't over-train, muscle is built on your "rest" day)

1 pt for every 10 minutes of cardio up to 120 min or 12 pts/day

1 pt for every Pagan Place team member you support - max of 10/day

If it's easier for you, you can post your points here daily, or keep track and do it weekly. Please track in this format:
