Took me six months to lose four pounds, even with regular exercise and watching my food consumption carefully. But they were pounds that had been there forever. So when I put most of them back on during the holidays, it was really discouraging. The wonderful news is that my body seems to think of my pre-holiday as the new norm. I'm back into my healthy routine of good eating and exercise, and those holiday pounds are dropping at a rate of half a pound a day. So the take-away message is that healthy living is a long term investment. To all my sisters and brothers who are fighting like me to lose the last ten, as well as those whose journey involves any ambitious number over 20, my wishes for a happier, healthier new year no matter where we are on the scale on any given day.
