June Reflections:

I experienced a gradual loss of about 1 pound this month. First time this has happened since my sideways trend emerged in December 2014. Weight was essentially steady December 2014 - May 2015.

So, what changed? I decided to address my elevated sodium intake. I pulled the sodium nutrient down in my nutrition summary and noticed that most of my upticks in weight were associated with elevated sodium intakes.

Set a goal to limit elevated sodium days to no more than 1 day in any 7 consecutive days. It took until June 11 to get my first 7 consecutive days with no more than 1 day of elevated sodium intake and I have managed to sustain it since.

For the month of June I kept all but 3 days within the recommended sodium range of 500 mg - 2300 mg. So, it appears that I had been retaining a pound of water. No change in calorie guidelines for the month. Activity has been severely restricted since diagnosis of pelvic fracture this month. As I see it, the essential change was a reduction in sodium intake. Onward to July and entering my second year of maintenance.

Current Goal: My goal is to keep the 7-day average of my daily scale weights between 121.25 lbs 128.75 lbs. This weight range is from a current Maintenance Challenge with the At Goal & Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance Team and is +/- 3% of my chosen center weight of 125.0 lbs. NOTE: Fitness activity remains limited (especially weight bearing cardio) following injury on March 13. Reduced calorie/nutritional ranges will continue until fitness activity can be safely increased to levels requiring additional calories. TSH levels tested and found to be too high on May 20. Medication increased. TSH levels to be retested in 6 - 8 weeks. Week of June 8 diagnosed with pelvic fracture and osteopenia, instructed to cease all activity (including stretching) until cleared by orthopedics.

Take care of yourself and do your best not to fret about a 3 lb uptick in weight from one day to the next. I am in maintenance and have that happen fairly regularly. Our weight is very dynamic and can change quite a bit from one day to the next. It is the long term weight trend that matters.

The 3 lb gain is likely water rentention. To gain 1 lb requires an additional 3500 calories. I highly doubt that you consumed an excess of 10,500 calories yesterday.

Given our family is riddled with diabetics, I have witnessed these extreme blood sugar swings up close and personal as long as I can remember.

I gained 3 lbs. since yesterday, My blood sugar dropped drastically low, I had to eat peanut butter & extra food. That's what happened. I hope everyone has a good weight loss journey. Have a blessed day!
