I weigh myself to keep track of water gain since I have a heart condition and diabetes which causes me to retain water. I am taking a medication to help but have had to cut it down to 3 times per week to avoid kidney failure.

Hello all,

Looking through this thread for the first time in two weeks and coming off restrictions and steroids. I still want to eat the plaster off the walls but I'm not so grumpy now. My soap scrawled mirror was a bit painful to look at but I'm writing it all down.

Surprised to find the doctor has stopped asking me to lose weight now. Seems he's finally given up on that medical goal. Hopefully I won't. Everyone here at Spark finds their own successes, and right now mine seems to be that I come back and visit after my setbacks. This little corner helps me quite a bit.

Still frustrated, not as angry, and definitely slower-moving, but I'm still trying.

After 4 meals of protein & raw greens my body shed 2% of its weight in fluid. Dramatic! This is such a powerful anti-inflammatory tool for me! I'm consuming protein & raw greens again today. Tomorrow, I will return to normal eating.

Following two months of very tight weight fluctuations it became evident over the weekend that I was experiencing another inflammatory flare. What tipped me off? The weight creep; but, more importantly the hydration % from the scale that I take weekly. Highest I've seen in 2.5 years. Not good!!!

So, I immediately instituted the tool shared with me during last summer's inflammatory flare - 1 to 3 days of protein and raw greens. I started midday yesterday and by this morning that hydration % had already dropped nearly a full % and 1.6 lbs of fluid released. I've continued with the protein and raw greens today. Depending on feedback from the body tomorrow morning, I may take a third day of protein and raw greens.

It's amazing to me how effective this is for me.

RBCAN8V That is the best way. I have to weigh myself daily because I have a heart condition and diabetes. If I retain too much water I could have a heart attack. My weight goes up to 195 and back down to 188 every week depending on water retention.

Thanks, Lighthouse, but I decided to stop weighing altogether. From now on, I am just going to focus on how my clothes fit and how I am feeling. I was giving that number too much power.

Don't give up. You can do this. Just try to look over what you did the last few days and see how you can change it so you will start seeing results. How much exercise did you get? What did you eat? How much did you eat? Were you stressed? Did you get enough sleep and was it quality sleep. By looking over the past few days you can see if you need to make a small change in exercise, food, sleep or to elevate stress.

I weigh myself to keep track of water gain since I have a heart condition and diabetes which causes me to retain water. I am taking a medication to help but have had to cut it down to 3 times per week to avoid kidney failure.

Hello again all,

May did not go as I'd expected in many ways. The balcony baskets are still bare and I just did not get moving as much as I'd planned. One of the perils of being a quilter instead of a plein air painter these days.

Hopefully my June mornings will be more productive ones. Might have to start carrying my paints with me as an incentive for more outside exercise. Go for a spin. Sweat. Find a nice place to paint. Amble back home feeling accomplished and considerably less pressured.

Hello again all,

I was briefly derailed these last two weeks by a body that is convinced my summer allergies are the end times. I've decided that at least half of my morning workouts will be spent hauling tissues around. I had to delay the start of my early morning spins and will be starting tomorrow instead.

I am profoundly frustrated so any chance for some time that burns my frustrations away and empties my head is a very good thing, especially if it is exercise. Summers are a slog and making these next few months fun is challenging. Most of my SparkPeople visits lately have been spent looking at ways to accomplish a stress-free season and check off the stubborn weight goals that hang on when I hide indoors and bask in the air-conditioning.
