My first weigh-in after a 2 week road-trip and I'm happy to say I stayed the exact same weight. I was worried because I ate at restaurants every evening, and had hotel breakfast every morning. I tried to make healthier choices, and made sure to stop eating when I was satisfied (instead of waiting until I was feeling stuffed). I also tried to exercise in the hotel whenever facilities were available, and I'm sure climbing 250+ stairs at Mount Rushmore helped somewhat to burn off the excess calories I was taking in.
This week, I'm back to healthy home-cooked meals, regular exercise, and trackingwhat I eat. I am going to a wedding on the weekend but I know I can make healthy choices at the buffet, and dance off the glass of wine I plan to enjoy.

I couldn't agree more POSITIVEPAULA8! Every person trying to lose weight got there because of poor eating habits. A quick fix may help take a few pounds off, but to sustain that loss takes a commitment to eating healthier.

I haven't declared any food to be off limits, but I focus on making healthy choices the majority of the time. If I do choose to go out for the occasional burger or pizza, I don't feel guilty - I just make sure my portion size is reasonable (honestly - who needs two burger patties smothered in greasy cheese and bacon!), and I order the salad instead of the fries. Eating out used to be something I did 3 or 4 times a week. Now it's down to once or twice a month. And the best part is, I don't feel deprived like I would on a diet plan. It's all about eating sensibly and fueling the body instead of filling the belly.

We can all do it! One thing to remember and the best way to look at it is: We are not on a diet anymore. I don't care whether the "diet" word is in the title of books or not. You can follow those books plans or a mixture of different books, or weight watchers or whatever their ways of eating etc. like I do.

But it's not a diet we are on it is: A lifestyle. Our Healthy Lifestyle, Your Healthy Lifestyle, My Healthy .lifestyle.

Remember we're not on a diet but living a healthy lifestyle for the long haul from now on. So make it something you know you can stick to forever and are enjoying doing.

Last weeks weight: 195.4
This weeks weight: 194.8

Down almost one pound this week! I also did my monthly measurements today.
I lost half an inch off my waist, hips, and thighs each.
Body fat when from 38.4% to 37.4%
BMI 32.9 to 32.4

For my first month on sparkpeople I would call it a success. I am about 5 1/2 pounds down total. I have certainly learned a lot by trial and error! I am excited for month two since I feel like I am finally starting to get into my own rhythm with it!

Shameful.... I gained 5 lbs in one week -- why?

- I ate too much bread.
- I ate too much processed food.
- I drank too much pop.
- I did not drink enough water.
- I did not stop myself from being so indulgent.
