I was surprised at how little fruit I eat. I thought I ate pretty well but once I started writing everything down, I realized that I just wasn't eating fruit.
It's interesting to focus on quality food. When I started tracking and seeing my nutritionist, I quit using butter. I bought some I Can't Believe it's not Butter to put on toast. It's awful. I don't even want to get used to it. I'm not used to the chemicals, and I don't want to get used to them. My target is between 2 and 5 servings of added fat per day, so if I really want butter on toast or popcorn, I'm using it. Granted, a serving is only one teaspoon, but it tastes better than fake stuff.
I also realized that I'm eating more basic foods because I want to eat things I can easily track. I think that's ok for now. No reason to make tracking harder :)
