We have know completed six sections of the Buckeye Trail! We have finished the Akron, Bedford, Burton, Mogadore, Massillon, Bowerston and Belle Valley Sections.

We just officially completed the Road Fork Section! We are deep in Southwest Ohio. We are starting the Whipple section which begins at the northern trailhead for the Scenic River Trail. We are traveling along a footpath that meanders along ridge before it descends, sometimes steeply with switchbacks, into valley of intermittent tributary to the Archer's Fork.

We are 5.39 miles into the Whipple section.

We continued the rugged hills of the Wayne National Forest and the Road Fork Section in southwest Ohio.

We continued south in the Belle Valley Section beginning at Salesville in Guernsey County. We passed Senecaville Lake, Chaseville and made our way into Noble County. We officially finished the Belle Valley Section! We are now entering the Road Fork Section and the hilly Wayne National Forest.

Having completed the Akron, Bedford, Burton and Mogadore Sections of the Buckeye Trail.

Starting this week at Tow Path at Lincoln Way. We traveled south down the tow path through Massillon and Navarre towards Rockville, Bolivar and into Tuscarawas County. Passing Fort Laurens State Memorial and hiking on a primitive horsepath. We past Foot Bridge Overhead and continued on Abandoned road stopping just .4 miles north of Boy Scott Road and Bissell Church Road. Only a few more miles to completing the Massillon Section.

Having completed the Akron, Bedford, Burton and Mogadore Sections of the Buckeye Trail. We left off last week .71 miles into the Massillon Section in beautiful Hartville.

This week we traveled past the Hartville Chocolate Factory down Woodland Street. We traveled past Lake Township Community Park and Lake Township Highschool. We continued east down Wise Road towards Green. At Green we headed south on Christman Road past Comet Lake, Lake Noah, and to Pine Oak Lake. We are now on the Tow Path at Lincoln Way.

Having completed the Akron, Bedford and Burton Sections of the Buckeye Trail. We left off at the Footpath at Rainfield Road in the Mogadore section. We continued on the footpath hiking along the Mogadore Reservoir then South down Martin Road. We continued past Wingfoot Lake and head south through Portage County until crossing into Stark County and Quail Hollow State Park and Hartville.

We completed the Mogadore section and are .71 miles into the Massillon Section. We are just past Prospect avenue at Maple Street in beautiful historic Hartville.

This week we started out at North St at Center St on Chardon Square in the Burton Section and worked our way south through Geauga County into Portage County as we entered the Mogadore Section. Traveling down the headwaters trail to Peck Road to Newton Falls Road and Ravenna. Traveling through West Branch State Park and onward to Sandy Lake and by Rootstown. We are now just past Ranfield Road at Footpath in the Mogadore Section.

The week of October 30th we started at the Tow Path trail at High Mill Road in Crystal Springs. We head north on the Tow Path through Canal Fulton, Clinton, Barberton, into Akron. At Memorial Parkway we went through Sand Run Metro Park into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We finished just south of Trail Junction in Brecksville Reservation deep in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The week of November 6th we finished the Akron Section of the Buckeye Trail as we reached Trail Junction, we now entered the Bedford Section of the Buckeye Trail. We took the tow path trail, bridle path, hiked Tinker's Gorge up to Chargin Falls to Chapin Forest to Penitentiary Glen.

The week of November 13th we continued in the Bedford Section passed through Veterans Park and to Lake Front Trail in Mentor. From the Lake Front Trail we entered Morton Park and Headlands Beach State Park on Lake Erie and completed the Bedford Section.

We have officially entered the Burton Section traveling 21.7 miles of this section. From Headlands Beach State Park we are working our way south away from Lake Erie on streets through Grand River into Painesville and Lake County Metroparks.

We are now at North St at Center St on Chardon Square with 30.9 miles of this section to go.

The week of October 30th we started at the Tow Path trail at High Mill Road in Crystal Springs. We head north on the Tow Path through Canal Fulton, Clinton, Barberton, into Akron. At Memorial Parkway we went through Sand Run Metro Park into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We finished just south of Trail Junction in Brecksville Reservation deep in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The week of November 6th we finished the Akron Section of the Buckeye Trail as we reached Trail Junction, we now entered the Bedford Section of the Buckeye Trail. We took the tow path trail, bridle path, hiked Tinker's Gorge up to Chargin Falls to Chapin Forest to Penitentiary Glen.

We are now between Hopkins Road at Mentor Avenue and Veteran's Park in the Bedford Section just outside of Mentor. We are about 8 miles from completing the Bedford Section.

Progress on the Buckeye Trail

We started at the Tow Path Trail at HIgh Mill Road in Cystal Springs and head north through Akron. We have gone 56.52 miles, we are now just South of Trail Junction in Brecksville, only 1.18 miles from completing the Akron section of the Buckeye Trail!

For nearly 1444 miles, the Buckeye Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state.

Welcome to the Virtual Hike: Buckeye Trail Challenge.

Each week post how many miles you covered this week, walking or running or hiking, and at the end of each week, I will add up the miles and see as a team how far we progressed on the virtual Buckeye trail challenge and where we have reached on our trip around the state.

Our starting point is Tow Path Trail at High Mill Road in Crystal Springs, we will head north through Akron and loop the Bedford Section before heading south. How long will it take us to virtually hike, walk or run around the State of Ohio on the Buckeye Trail and back to our starting point?
