These suggestions are awesome! If anyone wants to do any walking/light jogging (I'd like to try at least) early mornings (to be done by 6:30 am) or weekends, message me. I'd love some buddies.

I'd like to walk around waterfront park after I drop my boyfriend off at work (N.W. Industrial/ Front Ave.) in the morning, so I'm just gonna give a shout out in case anyone is more familiar with the area than I am...Is there any close and/or free parking near there? I know it's laughable, but I thought I'd ask, just in casers!

All people dream, but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind, wake in the
morning to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous
people, For they dream their dreams with open eyes, And make them come
true.

My brother likes to walk at Mt. Tabor park, he says it's quite a workout going to the top of the hill.

I like to walk around the hills in my neighborhood. I live on the Alameda Ridge, and it's quite a workout going up and down hills and stairs. And we have great views of the downtown area from the top of the hill. I like to window shop on Alberta Street, they have these eclectic shops. Sometimes I'll walk from my house to the Lloyd Center Mall and back, about 45 minutes each way. Or I'll walk home from downtown, a two-hour walk. There's a few libraries I can walk to, when the weather is nice.

2South, I may take you up on that offer emoticon I haven't run in who knows how long now though I'm starting to feel like I might miss it, maybe LOL
I work at the opposite end of the Waterfront from you - a half mile past the Hawthorne, down past the marina. I'm slow enough I can't do the whole loop on my lunch (I only get a half hour) but maybe we can swing something one of these days.

@CBAILEYC I walk the same waterfront route(s)! I don't run & have no desire to start. BUT... If you're looking for company on one of your walks, message me.

I live in NW PDX on NW Naito Pkwy, near the Steel Bridge, 1 block off the Willamette River. I walk the waterfront 5-7 days a week. I made a loop, I walk to & cross the Steel Bridge, walk the Eastbank Esplanade to OMSI, then turn around & cross over the Hawthorne Bridge back to my apt, just past the Steel Bridge. I think it's a bit over 4 miles. It's a nice morning walk if anybody wants to join me just message me.

If I want a longer walk I head from OMSI to the Springwater Trail/Corridor and walk that till I feel like turning around and heading back to the Hawthorne Bridge & the Waterfront Bike Trail.

Kashmir is a great ambassador for Forest Park!

I'm also fond of walking/running the Waterfront. The building where I work is on the Waterfront, so I'm lucky enough that I can park there, walk the whole loop, and get in a great 4 miles. Or just do 2 miles at lunch when I have time and the gumption to get up and out!

There's also the Springwater Trail, starting at OMSI and going to Oaks Park (or vice-versa)

Glendoveer Golf Course has a nice 2 mile loop around it, which two different parking locations.

I'm also a fan of the bike trail along the Columbia on Marine Drive. The boat ramp near there is closed at the moment, but you can park at The Home Depot off Airport Way and get to the path that way.

Check out the 40-mile Loop:
www.40mileloop.org/index.html

Lots of good info on different trails to experience.

For our neighborhood, we walk around Madison High School, around Rose City Golf Course, along Sacramento Ave.

Last but not least (I'm sure I'm forgetting something) there's Cascade Station - it's a shopping area with a Target and variety of other stores. The sidewalks and nice and new and relatively even and well-lit. There's a path off the main street that takes you need the slough and then through a bit of wooded area.

Granted many of these you need to drive to, in order to experience them, but if you're willing to go on the adventure, it's usually worth it!

Now that it's lighter out longer, my favorite is Forest Park.

I walk and run the waterfront loop. Park on Main by the Hawthorne bridge, walk down to the Steel bridge, up to the Hawthorne (sometimes a detour to Powell's), and back to my car.
Also the bike path along Marine Drive.

I live in SE, and most often walk around Mt. Tabor, since it's closest to me. But I need to branch out, and keep myself motivated! So what are some other walks that people like? Are there neighborhoods you especially enjoy exploring, that are "walker-friendly" (safe, well-lit, etc.) for somebody who does a lot of her walking alone, in the evening? I'm excited to expand my "route repertoire"! emoticon
