Congratulations for the great loss Bernice! I had a rather large gain last Thursday so I am hoping to get at least some of that off this week, but so far it isn't looking great. We had our family reunion over the weekend and of course I ate more than I probably should have.

Surprise self with a 1.2 loss this week
An even l80 so hopefully August will get me into the 70's again
maybe I can stay there for the rest of the year

Yesterday was the last weigh in of the month for me and I got to spend it with my good friends, using our same scale we always use to weigh on. It was so good to see them after 2 1/2 months and have really missed them. I knew I'd be up a little because of the difference in scales. On my home scale I had a turtle. The entire month showed looks like I maintained as well, so I'm echoing both my friends here on Spark!

Looking forward to August and it's just around the corner!

Bernice, I am afraid I might be joining you in the gainer's circle this week. It is early yet (we weigh in on Thursday evening), so I am not giving up, but my scale is definitely not looking good so far. August is a new month and we can work hard for better results then. At least you held your own for the month of July instead of ending it with a gain. Now on to a new day!

Congratulations on your loss this week, MABER! It is so much more fun to have a nice loss than it is to face a gain, but the main thing is that we keep on plugging away at it and never give up!

Bev, sorry I was rushing your vacation! PA is a beautiful state from what I've seen of it. We visited Gettysburg when we went back that way about 7 years ago. My hubby was very fastinated with all the Civil War historical areas. Thanks for the kind words and I will try to reverse the gain this week. We went out for Mexican dinner on Sunday and that always makes me show a gain the next day. I should remember that I can't do that the day before I weigh in! emoticon

We were at the gym on Sunday and I could not believe I had the pool all to myself, so I got to swim quite a few laps plus we did the weight training circuit and I hopped on the exercise bike. It makes you feel tired, but in a good sort of way. We will be heading back home this weekend to spend about a week or so. My granddaughter is having a baby shower and I just can't miss that! Her baby is due in September!

Our vacation is not until next month Sunny. We still haven't decided for sure where we are going, but we are leaning toward going to PA again but maybe some different towns than we went to last year.

Well, the scale was not so kind to me this morning and showed me up exactly one pound to 172.80. I have a hunch as to what caused this gain so will work a little harder this coming week!

Good luck on your weigh-in this week Bev! Hope you had a great vacation. Where did you guys decide to go?

Congratulations to the losers last week. Joanie, also congrats on the anniversary. I also managed a loss last week, although a small one. I was thinking from my scale that I might lose .2 or possibly .4, but the chapter scale showed .6. I wasn't going to argue, but I hope it doesn't come back to bite me this week! have been away all weekend and have not exercised so I am hoping I can make up for it during the week.

I was "on the spot" with another member and we emailed each other every day this past week. It was inspirational and I was down 2.2 this week. She had to go out of town unexpectedly and couldn't make the meeting so we voluntarily said we would stay on this week. I have my 35th wedding anniversary party tomorrow and my husband and I are going away for 2 days. This "on the spot" thing will help my conscience!!! So now I am 6 lbs from goal and I want to get there this year. The heat wave is going to break tomorrow so maybe I can get out on my new adult tricycle. Hope everyone has a good week and stay cool.

Good luck at you next weigh-in Bernice. Staying on track is tough at any time, but with the heat and humidity of summer it is even harder I think. You don't feel like exercising in the heat and the ice cream calls out to us louder in hot weather.

I lost .6 last week but I'm not sure what tonight will bring. This morning my scale is looking like it is about the same as last week or maybe up by 1/4 pound or so. I am hoping it might look slightly better by weigh-in time. Most people say they weigh least first thing in the morning, but that usually isn't the case with me, probably because we tend to eat later in the evening than most.

Wow! I have not been on the spark site since May and shame on me....I have gained 4 pounds since then. I have been tracking my food on another site but I have to get onto this site daily since you guys are great! Had a good Tops meeting with a guest speaker last nite. She gave us a lot of inspiration. So I am "On The Spot" with another member for next week's weigh in and I WILL LOSE!

I know how you feel Bernice, but you probaby have a better excuse for getting off track than I do with all the stress you were under. I went back over the 200 mark last month. I did have a small loss last night, but it was not enough yet to undo my weeks of gains. Hopefully I can continue going in the right direction and end the year with a loss.

Well, I had another gain this week. It is quite frustrating to me because I tracked my food all week and while I could have done better I don't feel like I ate enough calories to have gained the .8 that I did- especially since I had an hour a day of exercise (except for one day that it might have been only half an hour). The group decided they don't want to even weigh in next week so it will be two weeks before I officially weigh in again, but I will get on my scale at home regularly (usually every morning).

Bev, I had the same news when I got on the scale Monday. Oh well, we just have to keep plugging away at it one day at a time and do our best. We are on track for a loss next week!

I didn't check in last week after my weigh-in, but I had another gain, putting me back over the 200 mark again. I definitely need to figure out a new strategy because I can't keep gaining. I have been trying to track my food on here, although I never got to it yesterday. Usually doing that helps at least a little bit because it makes me more aware of what I am eating. If I can make myself do it consistently it will probably help.

I will have to look at my chart when I weigh in this week to see exactly what my starting weight for 2013 was. I would like to get below 180 by the end of the year, but even if I got into the 180s it would be an accomplishment.

We have two more weigh-ins but I think it is unlikely that I will lose 3 pounds in the next two weeks, so I will likely end the year in the red, but at least it won't be by much.

Congratulations! I think you broke through that plateau! I had a small loss tonight, which was a pleasant surprise. I was up by several pounds on Monday and I thought I was doomed, but I also hadn't been wearing my compression stockings and my legs and ankles were swollen because of it. The scale was looking better every day, but I still expected a small gain until I got on my scale right before I left for the meeting tonight. At that point it was showing I was down about 1/4 pound, so I thought I might have a turtle or a loss of .2. The chapter scale was slightly more generous and gave me .4.

Our attendance was light tonight and we did have a small net gain as a chapter, but no one had any big gains.

Had a 1.50 gain this week, I felt really bad we had a chapter challenge to have a no gain week or everyone had to pay a quarter so now the group decided to do the same challenge next week yikes I will do better cause I surely do not want to cost the group again next week.

I gained three weeks in a row, then I lost last week, so I know you can do it. It is hard to cook for just two. Maybe you could try freezing the extra in portion size containers so you have another meal all ready to be thawed and heated another day.

another .4 gain that is three weeks in a row with a .4 gain
l.2 gain for the month so far

Gained another .4 this week but had a lot of company again this weekend
Everyone is coming to see us before the snow season
They know that we do not travel far from home
And I will get back on track this week eating sensibly
Have no trouble with exercise our two dogs see that I go on a mile walk daily

I won't weigh in for another 45 minutes or so, but I know I will have a gain. This morning I was afraid it might be about 2 pounds but by my scale it is looking more like a one pound gain. I knew I ate some things I probably shouldn't have over the weekend, but I didn't think I had done that bad until I stepped on the scale and it said I was up by 3 - 4 pounds. It came back down some but not enough. I guess I will have to be more careful this week. I hadn't even lost all of what I gained when I went on vacation yet and now I am going to be even higher than I was then. I think I need a good swift kick in the butt!

As long as you are in leeway I guess there's not too much to worry about, but yes portion control is still important even when you get to goal. I didn't do so well at it the first time around, but when I reach goal again I hope I will have learned my lesson! My scale is looking pretty bad today so I think my weigh-in will be pretty ugly tomorrow!

Have not weighed in for three week went north to our trailer for a week then labor day we had no meeting so this week will be first weigh in for Sept hopefully have not gained to much would even settle for the same but if lost a pound could win a contest I and the lady on Medifast are the only two people left in two different contest it is no fun competing against her as she is sure to win oh well guess it does not matter how you lose weight as long as you keep it off and am doing that one day at a time

Figuring out how to include the KOPS in contests to make it fair for them can be a challenge. I usually try to make the contests more about healthy habits than about weight loss. That way everyone has the same chance at winning, whether it be the KOPS or someone who only has a little to lose who won't lose as fast as someone who has a lot to lose. If we do base a contest on weight loss it is usually not about the amount lost, but simply whether or not a person has a loss, and in those cases we count a KOPS who is at or below goal the same as a TOPS who has a loss. We have just two KOPS in our chapter. We had four at one point and we sometimes had two winners- a TOPS and a KOPS. One of our KOPS passed away and one had to go in a nursing home, so now we have just two. Hopefully some day we will have more.

This week I lost half of what I gained last week. I still have to work at losing the rest, but at least it was a start.

We were discussing a game/contest and she got upset over the rules. She is our one and only KOPS. in my opinion Ithink she is more upset that since reaching goal she is not the one winning all the contest so she was looking for some attention. She got it but not sure the kind she was looking for as many of the members now are upset with her and not giving her any attention.

What did she get so upset about? Last week I ended up with a gain of 1.2. I thought the scale didn't look too bad when I came back from vacation but it didn't improve by weigh-in day. This weekend I went camping so my food choices were not the best. Weigh-in is tomorrow so I will see then if I manage to lose any of what I gained last week. Congrats to those who have lost and to those like me who didn't we can make the next weigh-in better with a little more effort.

Hi all sorry life got too busy for me this past couple weeks. I have been doing ok have lost a little then this week I gained a little 3/4 pound but hopefully I am back on track. We had a girl at our meeting get all upset and told us where to put our chapter in not very polite terms so have been dealing with that and trying to keep the rest of the group calm while handling it. Congratulations on your loss Bernice! I am back from vacation and trying to catch up on all my e-mail. I got on the scale last night and I was up a pound from my last weigh-in. I felt that was pretty good because I am supposed to wear compression hose to help prevent fluid buildup in my legs and I haven't worn them all week. Usually I will drop a pound or two when I start wearing them again after a few days without them. I hope your fellow member decides not to continue with the Medifast program but if she does all you can do is continue to support her. Even though she may win more awards than those who are doing it more sensibly, in the end those who are learning to live a healthier lifestyle will be the real winners.

Update on fellow member she has admitted to being on a program believe she said Medifast anyway it is one of those advertised on tv and she said it cost hundreds of dollars and is staying on it til February still have the opinion she should not be eligible for awards but as said in last post am letting it go one day at a time
