These fad diets really don't work if you stop when you lose the weight. I think good hard exercising and sticking within a calorie limit is the only way and you have to keep doing it when you do lose the weight.

I'm 23, I really haven't experimented with all these fad diets. When I was about 16, I lost a lot of weight by barely eating. Of course once I stopped that, I gained 50 lbs!! I lost weight once before my wedding, and that was just pure eating healthy and exercise but I never stuck with it. My uncle is overweight, he and his wife have tried A LOT of diets. One, I remember they ate a lot of grapefruit and bacon...it didn't work!

I have done them ALL and then some, ever since I have been 16 and I will be 60 in April! They always work for me to start, then I plateau, then I get sick of paying attention. My best one so far, is to not step on a scale....over the last 10 years I have changed the way I eat a LOT, but it hasn't helped me lose what I want to, just stay the same, so I figure that is good. The eating part isn't so hard for me because I love fruits and vegatables and I also am an adventurous eater, so I have stacked up quite a few "go to" foods that are TONS healthier than the pints of icecream and cans of chocolate icing that I USED to eat! My problem is really about trying to make movement become a part of my everyday life.....

You name it, I've done it, lol. Do they work .... YES. Has it been a life style change. NO. Hence the weight creeps back on. This time I'm pretty confident that that is a thing of the past. Pity it's taken me this long to realize the importance of exercise, and to realize that it's a life time commitment to make good choices.

I've done slimming world, slim fast, slimming pills, grapefruit diet and weight watchers for short periods without much luck. The only time I lost weight in the past was when I half starved myself and the weight fell off but I didn't have much to lose and had a very physical job at the time. What diets has everyone done in the past and have they worked?
