BEBOP4ME, I totally want the ninja blender but don't think I'll use it enough to justify the cost. Is it worth it?

I probably use my Kitchenaid mixer more than anything (and she is so, so beloved to me) other than the coffeepot (well, yeah!). But I have to also mention the food processor (yes, I have two sizes and I use them both for totally different things), my crock pot (although I don't always love crock pot food - the things I do use it for make it absolutely useful, like pulled pork or tomato sauce or keeping mashed potatoes warm on Thanksgiving) and my immersion blender. I don't have an electric kettle but I like them and there are times when practically instant boiling water is really helpful!

Dear Members,
I use my coffeepot, and microwave stonepot the most. i love my microwave stonepot.
It cooks enough for one person, and the meals come out very good. Moreover, its fast and easy. Jinglebell5

I'd have to say it's my food processor. I don't cook as much as I used to; my DD lives 3 blocks from me and invites me every day for dinner, so I mostly eat there. When I do cook I almost always use the food processor.

22TOGO2, I've discovered -- to my *horror* -- that I have absolutely NO tolerance for caffeine now. Last night I was awake until 3:30 in the morning because I'd had a diet Pepsi at lunch time.

I *love* coffee, though I have it rarely because I am a "have a little coffee with your cream and sugar" type. I guess I will have to switch to decaf on those rare occasions I have some.

I use the following things several times a week:

- electric kettle (for tea and to get boiling water quickly for pasta or hard boiled eggs)
- imersion blender (smoothies, salad dressing, "green eggs" ie, eggs blended with spinach prior to cooking)
- george foreman grill (a pain in the ass to clean, true, but worth it for grilled fish & chicken)

Come fall/winter I will be using my crock pot more often, although the only thing I've used it for this summer is peach butter. It's actually gotten a bit cooler recently so I may break it out sooner rather than later...

I also use my food processor a few times a month, although with the lack of a dishwasher I often weigh the pros & cons of simply doing it by hand :) I most recently made a big batch of hummus in it and froze a bunch so that I don't have to make any for a long while!

Finally - I don't actually own a coffee maker as a standalone appliance! Crazy, I know. But since my husband doesn't drink it, and I try not to (on account of it staining teeth), I have a little French Press that does the job for me when I need coffee emoticon

It had been on my wish list for 2 years. It was given to me as a Christmas gift (DH called my youngest DD to find out where to buy it - Williams & Sonoma but made by Cuisinart). It's not cheap but worth every penny! It's built just like a crock pot except the insert is a non stick aluminum insert. It has settings to steam, saute/brown, roast, & also slow cook. It is just the best especially when a recipe calls for browning the meat or sweat the onions prior to setting the crock pot on low for several hours. Saves on so many dishes & browning the meats really does make a difference in the taste of the final dish! We've been lucky that my DH has gotten a moose every year for our freezer & because it's a bit tougher than beef (it's also a lot leaner), slow cooking it or pressure cooking it is the best way to get it tender.

My pressure cooker & multi use cooker (it saute's, steams, roasts, & slow cooks) & kitchen scale! Coffee pot is just an appendage not an appliance - LOL!

My electric kettle! No British kitchen is without one, and we bought one as soon as we got back from our trip there. I use it for tea, yes, but also for getting a quick boil for pasta, rice, hot cereal, and any time I need hot water.

Second would be my rice cooker. We eat a lot rice.

Salad spinner and toaster for us. Another tool we love (I wouldn't classify it as an appliance) is a pick looking holder that we use to slice meats. It has several prongs with pointed ends and a plastic molded handle, (ours is from pampered chef) it looks like a hair pick. We use it regularly to slice steak, chicken, pork tenderloin, etc. Love it!

That's right, the food scale! I have to weigh my coffee beans for grinding (.4 oz per cup). And weigh just about everything else. I have been through many over the years, just reach for it automatically. I love weighing flour for baking: 4.5 oz per cup. SO much easier than sifting then measuring.

NO kidding. I had it for years, but just started using it with Spark and I do indeed love it too. When I was thinking about this question, I was thinking about how the oddest right gadget is great when you need it. Like I have a shrimp cleaner tool. Invaluable when the sink has two pounds of shrimp in it ready to clean. But it sits there the rest of the time. I also really like my salad spinner, though I know some people think they are a total waste. But I diverge from appliances....

Coffee pot and toaster oven. I have one of those NuWave ovens and I don't like it all that well. I used to have a Jet Stream oven I I wore it out. That's what I cooked everything in and loved it.

If I were to be honest...It would be my coffee pot, followed by my toaster. I have coffee (1-2 cups) every morning with a bagel.

I prefer using my sharp kitchen knife for chopping, I find it quicker and a lot easier to clean.

My food processor. It has made me a better cook. Like having another set of hands chopping and slicing for me.
