indeed... i always warn a runner of the "emotional roller coaster" that happens at the end of the marathon. it is very pronounced for many folks and it can take a person by surprise! i guess that's why we all remember our very first marathon
I suspect that tip can be used for whatever distance you are training or working toward... and whatever distance race you are running. Right? First 5k, first 10k first half or whatever - save a little emotional and physical reserve for that last 1/4 of the race?
