Please share any tips or secrets you have learned on your way to a healthy weight loss life.

Is it with special foods or a regular exercise routine? We would love to know how you lost or how you maintain!

The eating clean book and magazine are wonderful! They say that healthy weight loss (or maintenance) is achieved by:

~~80% diet
food choices and portions, clean eating, reading labels etc.
~~10% exercise
cardio, strength and stretch.
~~10% genetic
Family predisposition, only thing to do here is be prepared and do what you can to reverse it.

See my page also on how I started and how I lost 50 pounds.

Good luck to you all!

Yeah, I suppose she has no choice but to have a good attitude about it..LOL. That is another reason why I don't bother with weighing. I can always tell when I've put on a pound or two (or three..LOL). The clothes get a little snug. However, I can also tell when I lose a little, because they loosen up somewhat. I usually feel about the same weight, as long as I follow a good food plan and do what I "Know" is right. However, LOL...That ain't always so easy.

Wow Pam that would be dissappointing--good thing she has a good outlook on it. But what else is she going to do...lol. I knew my other one was 1 pounds under compared to the drs, so DH went out and bought a digital one that is right on. I don't think the fat % on it works too well though.

LOL..I got so wrapped up in the "Food Game" that I got a little behind in posting on other threads.

I read earlier today about a "Fellow Sparkster" who just recently purchased a new set of digital scales, and to her surprise, her new scales weighed her in at 20 pounds heavier than her older set of scales.

I replied, "That is like having a bad dream and to wake up thinking, I just had a dream that I had gained 20 pounds."

It was suggest by others to check the scales with a 5 pound bag of sugar, etc., but she had done all of that already, and yes, her new scales were correct, and it was her old scales that were wrong.

YIKES! Sounds odd, but I can see it happening. When one never weighs, and decides to begin a healthy food plan, weights in, records his/her weight and goes from there, one would naturally go by his/her scales.

This person exhibited a good attitude, and is prepared to continue to move forward, 20 pounds heavier than she'd previously thought, but nevertheless, moving forward.

Hi Pam,
Another friend on my other team is the same way! The scale drives her crazy, so she just puts it away for a few weeks at a time. I'll have to tell her about you too. Thanks for sharing that.

I weigh every day, but only take my Wednesday weigh in seriously. I reached my weigh watcher goal at 146. But ny persoanl goal is 135. But as long as I stay healthy that is what matters most.

I never weigh. I used to weigh myself day in and day out, morning, noon, and night. YES, I agree it sounds as if I had some type of "head thing," going on with the scales. So, I got rid both of them, the "head thing," AND the scales. I know it sounds crazy, but when I was weighing, if I lost a pound, I felt that I could eat more that day, and if I gained a pound, then it angered me, which made me want to eat more that day. Basically, getting rid of my scales made it impossible for me to weigh in at all times of the day and/or night, which helped me regulate my eating habits. That was years ago, and to this day, I never weigh unless I go to the doctor, and I am happy to say that my weight has remained constant at my yearly checkups for all of those years.

I am certainly not recommending that everyone or anyone "throw out" the scales, but for me the scales were my enemy. However, I do not belive my weight was my problem, I believe my "head" was my problem.
