First 2 weeks started out strong, but the last 2 weeks, I didn't do as well.

I liked this challenge. One thing it made me realize was that without my daily runs/walks, I'm not as active as I thought!

I'm going to compare my steps once I start gardening!

Wouldn't that be amazing!! I did get 50,000 once!! I went to New York city and walked everywhere ALL day!! I have been wearing my pedometer for 5 going on 6 years now. Has anyone else used their pedometer for a long time? Actually, I have not had the same pedometer...I have had around 5. I like this one. Didn't think I would at first. It is the Omron. It keeps track of my whole past week of information and I can put it in the computer (it comes with software).

I am joining. I want to aim for 15,000 steps on weekdays and on the weekend I will aim for 7,000 steps. I may up the 7,000 if I see that is too easy for me.

Von: Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the site with pedometer steps for other activities. I used the site today. I was out chipping ice off our driveway. I pretty much guessed, but it was nice to be able to put steps with another activity, because it was a workout!

Nice to have you with us!
I'll be right with you trying to do more than 5,000 steps a day. So don't feel alone. Just do what you can.
Tomorrow just cut copy & Paste the template and put at the top for your goal, what you think your total will be for the month. And we will see if we meet our own goal.

Also if you do anything on a machine here is a link that will tell you how to calculate that into steps:

Right now I can't do a lot of walking with my job and the weather. So, I've been working on getting 5000 steps minimum daily. More if possible. When its nicer, I'll be adding additional goal for steps when I'm home on the weekend.

I'm in for the challenge. I will be away for a good part of February - a business trip the first week, then later, a well deserved holiday. But I will keep track of my steps and post them when I can. My goal - 10,000 steps per day.

February 'PEDOMETER' Challenge - Feb. 1st - 28th

Hi Team,

The Challenge for Feb. will be one using our pedometers.

You can buy a pedometer almost anywhere. They come in all price ranges. Be sure to get one that you can set your pedometer to your stride. These ones are more accurate. The directions for setting your stride should come with your pedometer.

1. We will be tracking in steps.

2. You can walk, run, or do activities.
Some exercises like using your stationary bike or swimming are hard to track in steps on your own. Here is a link to take you to where you can calculate your other exercises into steps:

The Challenge:
1. Set your goal for the month on Feb. 1st and see if you can attain it. (on top of template below)
~When setting your goal keep in mind if you are usually:

**sedatary in your exercise shot for a goal below 5,000 steps a day and try working up each day or week.
**Active people are usually doing above 10,000 steps a day.

10,000 steps a day is what is recommended to keep you healthy. But do what you can and build up.

*****Post your first days goal as what you want to achieve for the month.*************
EXAMPLE: 8,000 stepa a day for 28 days would be 224,000 steps for the month. That would be the goal to post.

2. Post daily and add them up weekly as you go along according to this template. (You can cut, copy and paste the template. Directions for cut, copy & paste are in Challenge chat thread)

3. Let's see how many of us can meet our goal.
