Mmmm, soup. I'm definitely going to put that on the weekend menu. Maybe a potato leek, I love that one.

I broke my rolling streak yesterday... emoticon left work early with a migraine, and went straight to bed for a couple of hours. Thankfully the ibuprofen kicked in by then, and I had a nice evening with Larry, but forgot to roll. I got it in early today!

Yoga for me too, I feel like it really helps keep my muscle soreness at bay.

Yes, I'm hoping to make the soup when I get the peas. I also got some green split peas and am toying with trying split pea soup, which I like. I'm not a big soup eater, but there are a few I enjoy

The exercise this week is very low key - mostly very gentle yoga as my back is bothering me, almost like I twisted wrong, and the muscle cramp in my thigh is still threatening to be worse. So, I'm trying to take it easy for a few days. I've also not been able to walk at work due to the weather, which I think adds to my stiffness. So, tomorrow, rain or shine, I'll walk.

I'm also trying to figure where to go with the weight. The three pounds still puts me above where I'd really like to be by 5 pounds, but it's seems to be where I've "settled."

I know - December is like two days away. I'm wondering where the year went....

Too bad about the soup, are you going to make it once you get the split peas? I love soup...I should make some too!

I did gain over the holiday...now it's time to get back to the routine, and get that off again, and I'm thinking about trying to drop a few more, to get into a lower body fat range (I'm upper 20% and would like to be lower 20% range, I'm thinking that might be 10 lbs or so, but I'll have to see how it goes.

We did get in a couple of nice bike rides over Thanksgiving, and I brought my foam roller, so that continues to be successful!

It's hard to believe November is almost done, will be starting a new December challenge, get ready!

Good for you with the foam rolling. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I was going to do a soup, but couldn't find yellow split peas.. and I checked every grocery store and Wal-mart. I have now found them, but will have to head downtown. Didn't really matter - just disappointing.

I managed to do okay with exercise last week. I'd done really well the week before, but still got in several good workouts. I just had a couple of days where I just didn't feel good. And, the muscle cramps aren't getting better. Still in my feet and I've got concerns with my left thigh. Several years ago, it was so bad I couldn't stand. Trying to be gentle so as not to be totally sidelined. And, eating some bananas and potatoes, both of which have potassium and taking a calcium supplement with magnesium.

I also finally got on the scale. Not bad. I've gained maybe three pound and in one year with the stress of the move and the workout schedule change, I dont' figure that is bad, though I'm going to try to get rid of it. :)

Still meeting my goal of Slim in 6 twice a week and hoping to add at least one Chalean Xtreme (weight training) in there.

Found a youtube video on foam rolling, and did a really long roll yesterday. I think I need to spend more time on the trigger points, and let them ease up when I roll, as painful as it is in the moment, I can tell this morning that it helped.

I also found an article on mobility warm-ups, and will try to get those done before my workout class today. One I can't do, since we don't have the giant bands at the gym (at least I haven't seen them...) but the other 7 should be doable, as long as I remember them all!

I'm going to get both classes in this week, I think I'll appreciate that come Thursday, and all the turkey!

I started taking magnesium pills, and haven't been cramping nearly as much. I've heard soaking in epsom salts would do the trick for the magnesium too (maybe even better?) It's just easier for me to take pills.

still rolling! I'm planning to walk to work today, may be the only day I really can, still trying to figure out a bike plan as well, since I have one now.

Well done on the tracking!

Well, I was starved by 10:00, but I did get a nice walk in getting there and back. Tracked again today. Though, the thing this morning also included weight. Once you subtract clothes, I've probably only gained about 5 pounds and given the stress of the move and some other issues with exercise, probably not bad, but it's been my wake up call to get my act back together.

Good for you with the rolling. My foot tends to cramp at odd times (tonight during exercise), so it's either magnesium or potassium or both. I do eat potatoes, which have potassium, but it might be time to get more bananas and increase my water, which I'm already working on.

Still rolling, I needed it last night after jumping rope, calf was feeling tight at the end.

So glad you're calves are feeling less knotty. I'm really feeling the Slim in 6. I moved up to the 2nd DVD and it's working me. Which is why I'm back to do this and just reinforces why we need to do strength training. However, I've never been good at floor work and I'm still not, but I'm going to stick with it. It won't be six weeks for me as I'm only doing it twice a week, but it's still good. I'm even thinking about starting to factor in some of the Chalene Xtreme -- I did one month before my surgery last year and did see results. I just need to make sure I'm getting cardio as well, so maybe once a week so I can the other exercises factored in.

Started off the week tracking food, so happy about that. I have to do bloodwork tomorrow at 9:30 -- fasting. So, not happy about how late breakfast will be. Wish I could have gotten an earlier slot, but I didn't. It's to get the reduced rate for health insurance at work. The good thing - it'll be a good walk there and back.

Sounds great! Good for you for working out a way to walk at work too. Nice job on the workouts!

Yeah, I killed it on the rolling! Guess when that's my only goal, I should be able to get to it. I think the week off helped, my calves don't feel nearly as "knotty" as they were. And for kicks I did my Polar HRM fitness test, and I called me "elite!" not too shabby for almost 49 years old...(of course it does take age into the equation, I think, since my birthdate is programmed in there)

I just realized that I've been doing pretty well with my own lunches (last week not withstanding...) since I've been trying to do more home cooking, I've got home made frozen meals to bring for lunch instead of picking up the lean cuisine, or whatever frozen dinner I've picked up for the week. Home made are so much healthier and tastier...

Good for you with the rolling while traveling! Walking is good. I've made a concerted effort to do my "work walks" though we did have one crappy weather day. Friday is weird cause I don't get to go to lunch until 1:00 so the afternoon walk is not practical... so I combined the afternoon walk with the lunch walk. The afternoon one is short - about 10 minutes - but it does wonders for me. I'll know how I did when I pull out the pedometer and enter my steps tomorrow.

As for the other goals, I fell one day shy of tracking, but I got three in, so that's good. I did 5 days of exercise, including my two Slim in 6 (I'm on the second phase and it's kicking my butt) and two yogas and one Ellen Barrett. I'm also trying to make sure one yoga workout is kicked up a notch, so I pulled out the Body Works dvd. It's a good one, so I'm planning to alternate it with the Rodney Yee Total Body one.

An added bonus for me this week - I didn't eat out at all. Getting the groove with lunch and just didn't feel like it. Pretty happy about that.

Nice start, Adlin! I think having a tighter focus on the goal (and fewer balls in the air, so to speak) will help us! Especially with Thanksgiving coming up and the holiday season so close....it's easy to make excuses and get side-tracked on goals.

I've been "rolling" with my little rubber ball every morning so far. It's not perfect, but the knots in my calves sure feel it! I've been doing pretty good on this trip. Since this is a rest week for me, I've been just doing my morning yoga, but I did get out and walk a little yesterday, it was a nice day (a bit chilly, but sunny) so it was good to be out in the fresh air. Today it's overcast, and I think they are predicting a chance of rain/snow, so I may not get out today!

I've been thinking about this. Then tonight I checked and it locked in Goal #1 for this month - track food at least 4 days a week. I haven't tracked food in over 2 months! Yikes. No wonder things are creeping up.

Then, exercise. A loose goal of 5 days a week, but the specific one is to do Slim in 6 at least 2 days a week and to follow all exercise with sit-ups and stretching. I used to this all the time and I'm realizing that I miss it.

So, today, I tracked food and yesterday, I stepped it up a notch for the Slim in 6. Tomorrow is an appt and voting, so it might be my night off. Tonight was 30 minutes of yoga, which is saying something because Slim in 6 yesterday and the lovely band work (arms/shoulders/back) had me feeling it today.

all great goals, Trishka, if you want to do all three, you may want to be more specific on the fruits and veggies, and the exercise goal, is there a certain number of freggies per day or per week you want to hit? And do you want to exercise x number of minutes daily, or x times per week?

I'm trying to do my foam rolling goal, but forgot I can't really bring my roller with me on this trip, so I found a small rubber ball, and I'm rolling with that, so far so good!

I need to do something after 7 weeks of traveling this Summer/Fall. So, setting a goal for November sounds like a good thing. I think that I'm going to try to drink 8 glasses of water / day as I've been slacking back on that. Also, I hope to eat more fruits and veggies. And exercise, of course, trying to get back into my exercise routine.

It's November, holidays are just around the corner, Halloween is over, and maybe you have some extra treats hanging around, or are snuggling in for the coming winter...

So how do you want to see yourself at the end of this month? Success will come if you focus on your goal, track it, and make it happen!

Remember the SMART goal concept? Your goal should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant (or realistic) and Time bound.

So we have this month to pick a goal, (or 2 if you are determined) focus on it, and make it happen.

I just recently (two days ago) joined the Leigh Peele forums and bought her "Fat loss troubleshoot" guide, so my focus for this month will be reading through that, looking into the forums, and getting more information to see if this is something I want to do. She has a very good program for losing fat, but is is also fairly extreme (only one of her options, she has a less extreme program as well) so I want to evaluate and see if I want to try it.

Since that is a less active goal, my goal that I will track for this month will be the foam rolling. I am going to roll every day! I've been skipping too many days lately, and when I do roll it feel so much better. I'm not sure how I'll do it when I head to Boston on Sunday, but I'll try to figure something out, even if it's just bringing a tennis ball and rolling with that!

How about it? Anyone in for a November focus challenge?
