I hope I can get it back together for October, but I did enjoy this past week, even if I didn't get my goals in. I did get to the hotel gym on Wednesday, the only RT day of the week. I did 3 hikes though for a total of 32 miles, not too shabby! And I came back from vacation the same weight as I left, so even though I am trying to get lower on that (I'm at the top of my comfort range and would like to be closer to the bottom!) I'm happy with that result, given that I did indulge quite a bit.

Today I did a new yoga DVD: Ultimate Power Yoga with Rodney Yee, it has 5 different short practices, so I did the restorative one, since I'm still feeling Friday's hike...it was nice. And then I rolled a bit too, my calves are tight, as usual!

Sounds like you had a good day lined up. I'm not super happy with my week, but it's better than I thought and I met the minutes goal I set up on the USDA tracker (moderate intensity minutes). Low key yoga (non power) doesn't count toward those minutes, but it sure helped me this week. I've still got hip issues and the yoga really helps. The power yoga counts toward those minutes, but alas it was a bit much for the hips this week.

Not as much resistance, but I find I get that through the Ellen Barrett videos as well, it's just usually using my own body weight, though I do have two that use light weights.

Not good at tracking food, though I think I got in three days. Hopefully will do better this week.

We hired a guy to do the actual painting, but I probably did burn a few calories moving everything around, still, not exactly resistance training!

I did a 10 mile hike yesterday, and a low key yoga afterward (that did feel good!) and also hopped in the hot tub for a soak. Love vacation!

Today I really plan on hitting the gym for the RT, doing my yoga and maybe walking over to the Bellagio to check that out. And Larry needs a ride to the convention center, so it really all will depend on his schedule, which is really not structured at all!

Vacation and projects will do that. I've learned to kind of roll with it, but it's still hard. I'm guessing the painting project worked you out just not in a traditional way.

Exercise is still a little off as my hip (bursitis I'm told) is really acting up. It bothers me walking at times and I'm trying to do the balance jig of exercise vs not exercise. Getting some walking in still at work, but too much of or too much sitting and my hip complains. I did a short, low key yoga tonight and it felt good. We'll see how it is tomorrow....

Well last week was a total bust for me! About the only part of my challenge I accomplished was the freggies, and really just barely...

My trainer was on vacation, and we were having the house painted, so I skipped the gym (and my routine) so I could take the house apart, and then put it back together...that is a time consuming activity! I did foam roll one day, I guess I should put that in the plus column, and I did the tabata workout from the Supreme90Day DVD set (kicked my butt, I was SORE for 3 days...)

This week is going the same way, I'm on vacation, so no foam roller, and while I had intended to get to the fitness center here at the hotel yesterday, it didn't fit the schedule, although I did get in my yoga, and walked over to the Luxor to see a couple of exhibits. Well worth it, but my resistance training is pretty much nil these days!

Hi. It was a power yoga dvd. The good thing is I remember it being hard... but I didn't really have problems...just a wonderful workout.

I did track food this past week, but started having problems with my hips. I pulled out an Xtreme training DVD by Jackie and am wondering if that was the problem. It's intense, but I don't think it would aggravate to the extent of the problems I'm having. So, I had enforced rest for a couple extra days this week as my leg and hip hurt after walking at lunch; was pretty worn out by the end of the day. Missed the exercise, but got back in the groove this morning. Seems to be better, though still some twinges.....

Hoping to track my food again this week and get the exercise in....

Take it slow and easy, Ronna! Sounds like your body is telling you that. Not sure about the food part, it's tough when you have others changing your plans like that! Hang in there...

I have done 3 days of foam rolling this week so far, and should get that in tonight at the gym too, since I'm making a habit of rolling after my group class. And massage tomorrow....life is good!

Well I am liking to read what everyone else is doing but I am not really getting very far. I suppose it is because my in-laws are here and every meal I had planned for some reason or another wasn't to thier liking so had to be changed. (They will be cooking tonight!) Also I feel my eye problem cropping up again...I feel a little desperare...like each time I up my activity I get sick again. I am going to have to think this through.

I like the Supreme90Day's so far, they are basic, but seem to be effective, and easy to follow, not so easy to do! But they have modifications for the exercises, or you could just drop the weight. I think it will be interesting to see if I can progress in these, even though I'm not doing the program per se.

Too bad about your week, that sucks! But at least you did some of what you planned, and hey, it's a new week! Which Rodney DVD did you do? I have a bunch of his, and love them all.

My week wasn't good. I did track and went over a couple of days, though not bad. I think I got in 4 days of tracking. I did three days of exercise, one shy of my scheduled and 2 shy of what I really want to do. However, I felt like crap for two of those days, so it just wasn't going to happen. Such is life. One of the workouts, though, was a spectacular, 60 minute yoga workout... a Rodney Yee dvd I hadn't done in a while and one I really need to put into the regular rotation.

Hoping to get the strength in this week and at least two yoga workouts. My walking has even been off due to weather, but that is getting back on track.

What do you think of the Superme 90 dvds?

Starting a new week, how are you guys doing?

I did my third resistance training day yesterday, successful week, I did legs from the Supreme90Day DVD set I got. It came with 10 DVD's, so far I've done 3 of them, all resistance training. There are some cardio as well, haven't dipped into those yet. I'm not doing it as a program, since I have my fitness classes, but I did take "before" pictures at the start of the month, and I though I'd fit these in as I can, and start taking pictures at the start of every month for comparison, and to see if I can tell if I'm making any progress.

I did foam roll yesterday too, so I think I hit 3 or 4 days of that last week, at least I'm remembering to do it before I get so tired I have no motivation left.

So far I've hit my goals Sunday, Monday and Wednesday this week! emoticon Did my resistance training on Monday, DVD again, this was shoulders and arms, so lots of bicep curls, and tricep kickbacks! I can feel those now! I rolled on Sunday and yesterday after my fitness class as well. And I'm really feeling my quads, my trail run on Sunday really burned them out! Lots of freggies, up to 12 yesterday...

Adlin, hope you can find a good apartment, but I think if you are working out at a decent hour (not too early in the morning or too late at night) the folks below you can handle a little rattling. Or maybe see when they leave and do it then. But you're right there are lots of exercises you can do that are stable and won't make a lot of noise, if any at all.

I wish we were heading into fall here! I think I'm really going to miss the seasons here, but I'm told it does get cool. We'll see.

So, I got ideas from ya'll. Super impressed with the freggie goal, but that one I'll have to see how I can make it for me.

First, I've got to track my food, but also stay in range, which means reduce the snacking. I'm close, but I'm not there yet

So, goals, track at least 4 times a week, staying within range. Continue workouts, but do one strength training workout a week. I have a couple of DVDs that should do this and not involve jumping or pounding (I'm on the second floor of a poorly constructed apartment and don't want to pound on my neighbors).

I've actually started looking at apartments and one of the goals is to get one I can workout in - so I'm probably looking at ground level and preferably some type of laminate in the living area. We'lll see.

That sounds like so much fun for the kids, Ronna, hope they enjoyed it!

Great goals, and glad to hear your back is feeling better and you can get out and move again!

I did my 3rd day of resistance training at home yesterday with a new DVD I got. It was a focus on chest and back, so lots of pushups and back exercises with dumbbells and the ball, I can feel my back this morning, so I think it did the job! Also got in 10 servings of freggies yesterday...so far so good! I only forgot to foam roll, but I did do my yoga and the DVD included a cool down stretch, so I can forgive myself that.

I will try to foam roll today though, we are supposed to get out on the bikes.

Hi everybody!

scholl started here two weeks ago and the weather is definitely fallish. Today we are heading to the lake for an event called "Barnasdag" Or "Children's day" where kids get the opportunity to try all kinds of outdoor activities like rock climbing, kayaking, cooking over fire...they even set up and are where kids can ski (kind of). Anyway, for me it is really a fall activity so like it or not Norway is in it!

So my goals for the month...Since I feel that I am about 95% better from my back injury I am ready to exercise. I think that three days a week for thirty minutes a day would be a good start since it has been like 6 months since i have been able to do mu beyond walking or hiking. I also have to get back to eating better and I think that meal planning would be a good goal. I have always struggled with this and think that shooting for planning dinners ahead at least five nights a week would be a good idea.

Thanks for the nudge to start to pull it together!

I'm going to work on my freggie goal from August, aiming for at least 8 fruits and veggies per day. And I'm also sticking with my foam rolling goal.

I'm also adding a goal of getting in one additional strength training workout session per week, so I have a total of 3. I get 2 with my fitness class at the gym, and some weeks I've been getting in an additional workout on the weekend, but it's been sporadic. I'd like to really make it happen this month!

Or winter to spring, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere!

How do you want to transition? The days are getting shorter, there is a crispness in the air, new fruits and veggies are appearing in the produce section. It may be getting harder to get in your early morning workout, or getting to the gym after a long day at work.

What do you want to achieve by the end of September? State your goal, and track it!
