Candy, you inspire me. Because of your no soda goal, I am sticking to mine better. DH has left many half finished cans of diet coke. Every time I am tempted to finish the can, I think of you and throw it out!

Paul, the no candy at work goal sounds very difficult. I am most tempted to munch at work to feel more alert. It's especially difficult that the candy is near you. Can you bring a substitute (carrots, berries, water, gum...) to help you avoid the candy? Can you move the candy dish away from you?

Candy at work is going to be a tough one to keep all year!
Why does there have to be a big candy dish on every conference room table...

No Dunkin Donuts for a year is not really a challenge.
No Candy at work - so far so good but I know this is a challenge.

No Chocolate during lent - not wait a minute....

Candy, I applaud you. After 2 years of "no soda" it's still a daily struggle. DH still lives on diet soda. So even though the taste doesn't appeal to me, I am tempted to drain the can. The reason I used quotation marks is that occasionally I have had soda.

Today I find out I am moving to our little office building next to Dunkin Donuts. At least I will be able to walk there (300 ft) for coffee.

Not having soda is getting easier everyday. It is hard away from home though. I hate paying $$$ for a bottle of water. I need to keep a cooler in the car with bottled water so I can buy it by the case instead of the bottle.

Incredible, Candy!
I am beyond proud of you!
It is so hard to throw out soda or food. Even though SP tells us not to treat our bodies as garbage disposals, I still find myself eating to avoid throwing out.

I promise Laura! Good for you for getting right back on working toward your goal!

I am still not drinking soda. I had one in the fridge at work. I got tempted and set it down on the table and was ready to drink it. I thought of you guys, picked it up opened it and poured it down the sink. I know that is silly and wasteful, but I had to do it. LOL

Teammates, I am proud of us for declaring goals.
I would like to propose that we all commit to being kind to ourselves.
For example, I resolved to do a 10 minute Denise Austin routine every day. When I missed a day last week, I fell into all-or-none thinking and I almost gave up on my goal.

Let's promise ourselves that if we mess up , we will pick ourselves up and get right back on track!

Congrats Paul!!!!!

That's a tough position to be put it but you made the right choice

On Wednesday, I went to a restaurant for a meeting... the restaurant was packed so they kept bringing bread baskets. I stared at a bread stick for over an hour but didn't eat it. And tonight I turned down a free Mexican dinner because I didn't trust myself around the unlimited chips

As they say... Small choices can lead to big changes

Hopefully, "they" are right!

Hey Paul, don't you feel really powerful? You stood up to the doughnut and said NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that sir is why we will succeed this year!

Charity that is a long list of items to give up, but most of them seem doable. Are you going to go for it?

Today was hard Laura, I love diet soda with a meal like other people like wine. LOL I made it for 6 weeks last year. I can't recall what caused me to crack, but I feel stronger this year. Actually just before I decided to do this soda started tasting gross so I figured that was a sign.

Paul, that sounds so difficult. I would have needed carrots or some other munchies to avoid treats right in front of me for so long

Thanks Candy. Right.
Day 1 of No Dunkin Donuts: Walk into 8:30am meeting - there the take out coffee box from Dunkin Donuts and a big box of donuts including my favorite.

Sat next to them for 90 minutes with everyone stuffing themselves with donuts. I did drink the coffee. No donut for me. Nope. Talk about being tested.

I have several trigger foods/ addictions
As of right now I need to give up and think I can give up

Bakery treats including cakes, donuts, pies, and cookies
White Bread (Whole Grain Bread allowed)
Packaged/Fast Food Ice cream. (Frozen Yogurt or Homemade ice cream using healthy ingredients such as fruit, nonfat milk, and ice allowed in moderation)
Any Chocolate except Cocoa powder in moderation
Fast Food/Restaurant French Fries (Baked homemade French Fries allowed in moderation)
Chips and Salsa at restaurants
Bread Baskets at restaurants
Appetizers and desserts at restaurants (broth based soups, and salads allowed)

I have already been weaning myself off these foods... but haven't made the official commitment to stop eating them or to find healthy alternatives

Candy, Giving up soda is very difficult. You may be surprised by all the excuses you tell yourself why "this time is different" so it's ok to have some.
You can do it but it will be a constant struggle.
I gave up soda recently and even thugh the taste of diet sodas is now yucky to me, I miss the caffeine so much that I still struggle with avoiding it.

Dunkin Donuts (not the chain - the actual donuts there)

I was constantly buying Dunkin Donuts with my coffee. Excuse to blow off the entire day food wise which led to 1000 calories of candy.

As soon as I can think of something I crave that might be equal I'll join in - might have to wait till I go back to work because that is when I am exposed. to all kinds of Bad stuff". It will be candy/treats from peers or eating at work in the cafeteria where I have no control over sodium or sugar or even fat. So I'm in on hold for a couple .more weeks.

I may do this later. I know that as soon as I tell myself I can't have something then that is all I want. I just don't think I'm string enough right now.

This is the place to give up something big for the rest of the year and to track it as well. You can start any time in 2014, but you have to try to give your addiction up until 01.01.15.

I am giving up soda for 2014. Wow it hurts just saying it. What will you give up?
