New issue - a 2 year old, almost 3, biting, spitting, hitting, kicking, cussing, in fact he cusses out the other teacher.

Other parents are beginning to complain! Especially about the biting - which isn't an everyday thing - 12 times in 3 months! but it is bad.

Talked to parents - told them if the behavior doesn't improve will have to talk to them again about next steps.

The children to the parent I was speaking of before is no longer in our care.

The only real issue I have right now is Parents not being consistent. Telling children if they don't listen that they won't get to do something when they get home and then letting them do it no matter what.
And the other class is having issues with the parents wanting to potty train when they are ready and not the children!

Any one having trouble with any of your parents?

Thanks! It is just good to be able to talk about it with people who understand where I am coming from and understand my limits.

oh yeah! I explained to her that she really needs to work with him because he does what to wear underwear and she said "I will bring some in tomorrow." Then I had to explain that she needs to work with him at home first - he needs to be at least having bms in the toilet. And when he starts doing that then she can try him in underwear at home and when he seems to be getting it at home for several weekend THEN we can try at school.

She just had a blank stare! AAAGGGHHH! Thank goodness my Director was in the room and explained it to her too.

She wants me to do all the work for him to be potty trained but doesn't want to help - NOT HAPPENING!

The hardest part is that with the almost 5 year old - I have a class full of 4 and 5 year olds. I have 9-10 other children that don't understand ... I can't exactly say his mommy didn't teach him - although it is the truth. He is delayed but I think it has more to do with parenting than with his ability to learn! Anyway - I am just doing the best I can with the situation. WISH I DIDN'T DREAD SEEING THE VEHICLE PULL UP! But I do!

my rule is successfully potty trained b4 underwear! i have it in my policy book please train your child when they are ready not you :) i just explain that i cant have the wet mess or poopy mess with other children here and not to mention my carpets and furniture...i dont think ive ever had an incident with the parents.....

good luck Julie thinking of you! very frustrating!

If it is to be, it is up to me.

I have one that is almost potty trained and is 20 mos she was going at home first so I started her here. she even tells you when she needs to go. I think she is the easiest I have ever had.

I just have one parent that is driving me crazy right now. Most of the rest of them I can handle. I just don't know what it is I can't make myself like her. I think it has to do with the way her children are handled and talked about.

I have little issues with other parents but this one - whew! Her children are almost 4 and almost 5 and are not potty trained. We make progress all week and then she puts them back in diapers on weekends. We explained that this is confusing them. Even when she has them in pull-ups she puts them on and off like diapers. But there is a lot more to it - this is just ONE thing I have an issue with.

Most of my parents are my nieces, daughter, & close friends I don't advertise anymore because I just take mostly family members. I agree with Tami about how it's tuff to harbor hard feelings, so sometimes I wish they were total strangers. I guess I have found there are pro's and con's.

thanks for asking Julie...
right now i dont have any "icky" parents lol
so knock on wood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im sure you have way more issues to deal with than us at home daycares!!!
i understand what ya mean abt not really wanting to be their friends then at times it makes it tuff to harbor hard feelings...

If it is to be, it is up to me.

Tami, What issues do you have with the parents? What are we trying to handle? Just checking. I have dealt with a lot of parents and have had positive and negative!

Potty training, Biting, and other injuries BIG ISSUES! Also as assistant director, and director at another center BILLING!

I have parents that drive me crazy and think I am their best friend because I am their child's teacher and think I want to know EVERYTHING about their life... Some I do feel close too but others I only want to know if it will effect the children.

Parents are a problem for me in a daycare setting too. Sometimes, I stop and think -"WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?"

I've only had one person not pay in full but I let it go seeing as the kid went to bed two hours early and I sat watching tv and checking email until she got home. Money is real tight for them and I only babysit ever 6 months anyways... Figured it wasn't worth the fuss.

Other than that, I haven't really had any parent issues. :)

The parents that I work for are pretty nice. They're actually pretty funny at times. There's not a ton of communication btw the two of them so a lot of times the either forget to ask me to come or they ask me twice. :P

I've found that the first few days are crucial, but after you win them over, your all set and ready to go!
