This sounds like a neat side thing to do, but I don't think there are places like that around my area. I'm glad that you found extra money on the side.

I forgot to mention that yes a lot of the foods are processed. However the most I will take is two bites of it and then do the survey. They dont expect you to eat it all. If its a take home I will take 1-2 bites then give the rest to my family.

Good for you that you found something that worked. I have a question, is this under the table? If not how does it affect your bottom line, your income level. I found that sometimes its best not to take on small jobs as they cost me more in the end, as they didn't remove income tax and I had to pay it back at the end of the year - since they reported the income, I had to also.

Sounds like a fun simple job. Glad it works for you.

I don't have any side jobs. I work hard enough in my current job and have volunteer work. I would be totally burned if I had to take on a side job. And things like what you described are not avaiable in this area, so I'd be looking at a real job - on weekends. And end up working 7 days a week, nah I'll pass.

We have a market research company here in town that pays you to participate in studies - I've only qualified for two in the last 10 years though (watching the local news anchors to determine which pair worked the best together, and marketing materials aimed at investments for women). We have done food tasting in the past also, but they always serve junk, prepackaged snacks and stuff that wasn't healthy, so I stopped doing those.

My friend used to do something like this with products other than food. I did it once at a mall where they had liquid hand soap with an air freshner at the bottom of the bottle to stick on you sink. I only made a few dollars.

Are these processed foods? Do they give you any nutritional info with the food? If not, how do you count it when tracking? I really don't think I would be interested in this personally. I am kind of picky about my food.

Glad you found a way to make some extra cash.

Hi all! I just wanted to let you all know I way I found to make a little extra money on the side. Its called food tasting.

I have been doing this since last October. There is a local reseach company that holds food tastings for new foods that they are testing before putting out on the market. I have gotten anywhere from $20-$100 per food taste depending on the time it takes. I think since October I have made close to $1,000 doing this.

It cost no money to sign up or at any time just some of your time and a little driving to get there. You taste the food then fill out surveys or talk in focus groups about them. Anybody from 4-65 can join. The big exception is latex or certain food allergies. Adults get paid on the spot using their atm and a pin number that they give you. Kids get compensated with gift cards to local merchants.

The tests at the company are anywhere from 2-5 hours but you can pick and choose which ones you want to participate in. Some tests are even take home for one week so if you dont have a two hour window during the weekdays you can still participate by taking it home. Lastly after you are signed up they call you when they have new tests avaliable and you use an automated system over the phone to see if you qualify for the test. There are have been times because of the choices I made on the automted system that I didnt get chosen for the test, but overall I qualify for most of them

I use this company http://www.innovationresearchomaha.com
but there might be other companies in your area.

Anybody else done this or found other ways to make some money on the side please feel free to post them!
