My aim is to get my food balance seeing I have colitis.

So far without exercise I have loss 9 pounds. I walk as your legs have to carry you.

I have sciatic in one leg.

So be ding, dong if I try getting that all upset again to have all those steps pushing..

I have been that route therapy.

I have done the dance movment for one year and now I cannot even hardly walk.

So be careful.

My mind wanted to all you mentioned years before but at 71 . My body is not like when I was 61.

My doctor agrees.

You can damage and then your stuck.

Hi Estelle:

I haven't added any of my steps into December as it's been a struggle to even get them in some days. I'm okay with that as I've done better all year than I thought I was going to be able to.
Where do we want or walk starting in January? Do we want to just set mileage goals? What are your thoughts?

I wanted to make it to 1500 miles! I'm doing better than I thought, especially with my knee. Things will slow down though for December and possibly January as I recover from the surgery.

WOW, my prayers are with your son. I'm doing good. Anxious to get my cast off next Wednesday and I'm hoping they will not have to put another one. We've bought a new 39 foot park model trailer which will be our retirement home in 8 years :) We've gotten rid of our motorhome and will now travel with just our car and hotels :) Will be much more relaxing I am sure.

I see the anesthesia doctor next Friday and hope to have a surgery date soon after. It's been a long haul. We've been dealing this past weekend with our son. He is in the burn unit now here in the city. He was in the line of fire with a gasoline explosion at his job up north last Thursday night. He is doing pretty good under the circumstances for which we give thanks.

Just found this challenge, and it's right up my alley! I've been walking for a few years now, so this challenge inspired me to see just how much and now far I've walked so far this year.

February 14.44 kms / 140 minutes / 636 cal.
March 40.06 kms / 420 minutes / 1,940 cal.
April 19.55 kms / 198 minutes / 938 cal.
May 29.56 kms / 297 minutes / 1,558 cal.
June 39.11 kms / 482 minutes / 2,210 cal.

July (so far) 11.27 kms / 120 minutes / 561 cal.
Pretty hot and rainy so far this month.
This challenge will help keep me on track.

I'm picking up my weights once again too! I figured I would try to get in as many miles as I can right now as I know I will be slowing down considerably once I have surgery and have to start all over with walking.

Walking the Distance Challenge 2013

I am continuing with another walking challenge at the same time as I am doing this one, so Dec. 31 2012 is added into this challenge. I have 227.18 miles yet to go on the old challenge and I want to incorporate the two challenges together. If you are doing another challenge, please feel free to track it all in this location too.

Dec. 31: 4.18 miles (232.06 - 4.18 = 227.18 miles left to go for challenge with Estelle)

Are you ready to take some action? Are you interested in doing some walking?

Please join us in our walk to health.

You have two choices of tracking, choose which one suits you.

Choice 1:
Walking the Distance: feel free to use miles or kilometers. How many of these goals can you meet in 2013

Goal distances: 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 miles. Once you reach one goal, see if you can continue on to the next goal. Track your distance daily is a great way to stay on track.

Choice 2: (for those who don't track using a pedometer or their fitbit). Walking hourly: How many hours of walking are you able to do in 2013.

Hourly goals: 10, 25, 50, 100, 125, 150, 200, 225, 250, 300, 325, 364 (an hour a day for one year). Tracking your time daily is a great motivator and assistance to staying on track.

Join in the fun. If you are already doing a walking challenge, feel free to put those distances, hours into this challenge...they count!
Let's walk our walk to health in 2013.
