i realize that this thread was for 2011 but it works for every year. I am a firm believer in random acts of kindness and I have a personal daily goal to do just that.
I set out every day committed to meeting someone new, shake their hand and just say hello. If I see someone who is obviously a veteran, I always seek them out and thank them for what they have done for our country. This is often met with tears, especially from their spouse.
This is fun, rewarding and it makes new friends.

December 2011...wow, did you ever think that you would have lived through the year 2011 when you were so much younger? Any date in the 20's seemed so far away (futuristic)...now we have 11 years of it under our belts. Amazing.
Your challenge this month is very simply. I know it is often a very busy month, where dollars are stretched thin and sometimes there feels like there just isn't enough time to do everything. This challenge requires very little effort on your part, but the rewards are huge!
Challenge: perform one RANDOM ACT of KINDNESS each day of this month.
Some samples: Hold the door open for someone. Thank someone with a smile and a genuine appreciation of their service to you. Shovel someones walkway. Help someone carry their groceries/parcels. Bake a plate of cookies for someone who wouldn't normally have homemade cookies. Babysit for a busy Mom. Volunteer at a food bank or fundraising drive. Run an errand for someone.
You get the point...no cost to yourself except for a small portion of your time. Be a blessing.
PS...you don't have to share your random act of kindness with anyone unless you choose to. But as a way of reminding yourself...make a mark on a calendar each day to indicate and remind yourself of the challenge.
