I was on vacation for a week and got back last Thursday. I was able to do a lot of walking and some swimmin in the river with my neices and nephews kids. It was a blast and I got some activity in. I lost 2 pounds while on vacation but managed to gain it back in just 2 days! So I started going to exercise classes again. A zumba class which was run by an older lady who didn't have the music up so loud And another spin cycle class. This time I got a cushion for the seat and my bum hurt only half as much as the first time. But boy did I work up a sweat. Now I'm back down to the 2 pounds I lost on vacation! It really works if you work it!
Cindyramie: I've always wanted to try a spin class! Never have though.
This week I haven't been keeping up with my workouts. I have exercised twice this week and about to head out for a walk on the beach with my daughter. When it's just her and I, I try and make it a little exercise instead of just a stroll. We'll see how long our route takes us! Have a great weekend.
Well, I think 7 hours certainly counts for something!! Wow, are you in shape, girl! Because standing is way more tiring than almost anything (except maybe bending down repeatedly to place quilt pieces on a floor pattern...).
Did you go with children, or just hang out there for your own private meditation? I've often dreamed to just spending the day sitting at various exhibits, vegging and soaking up the beauty... I figure that would be exercise for spiritual fitness, right? Gotta take care of all our health, not just the muscles.
So far, the spirit is benefitting the most....I'm really good at sitting by the bay......
Cindy, every one of those sounds awful! (Note: it is evening and I am tired and hurt everywhere. Tends to dampen exercise enthusiasm) I do understand that you are probably much further along in the fitness process than I am, and a simple walk on the beach is insufficient to get the blood pumping. (Hey, I worked up a sweat the other morning just folding newsletters for the Senior Center!)
And I discovered today that spreading quilt pieces out on the floor and arranging them and sewing them there is a pretty sweaty workout, too. All that bending and lifting and stretching, oh my!
A goal of mine this month is to change up my exercise. I was able to try 3 new exercise classes; a boot camp (ugh), a zumba class (too loud), and a spinning class (oh my aching bum). As you can see, I have issues with each one but I'm gonna continue.
My goal is 3500 steps a day, and if I add a walk to it (about 5 days per week) that pushes the steps to about 5000. However, I am still having difficulties with shortness of breath and exhaustion. My weight is holding steady however. Since I got back on the bike, I'm having pretty much constant joint pain at hips and knees, which probably means that the muscles are ready but the connective tissue isn't. Sigh. Adding the electric motor assist helps at least get me outside and coasting, LOL. Love that breeze in the hair!
I know August is partially over. Let's make a small goal. 10 minutes of activity per day. Split up however works for you. For me that would be 60 minutes in a week since I try to have one rest day. Post here what you've done for each day. Or come at the end of the week and recap what you have been doing to get closer towards your goal. Can't wait to hear from you all.
