I went through the mail as soon as I came in with it today, but I piled all of the medical paperwork from today on top of last week's paperwork instead of putting it in the correct file...it's not that hard...just gotta do it!

Not doing so well on this either. I think I need to make a regular day for each kind of paper task? Not sure. Can't be complicated either or I'll never follow through.I'll give it another go tomorrow in morning after a couple of cups of coffee. Hope to report better things.
I am so excited for this thread, thankyou for starting it, I've been so busy because we are moving house so I have been ignoring my paperwork ... Which all the more makes me want to get better at it.
I was thinking, as my husband called to ask for our house insurance papers .. That keeping current on paper is like keeping current on house work, you are either actually ready for an unexpected guest, or mortified that they caught you unprepared! Because I had just conquered my paper I actually knew where the policy was
I am whittling down the piles. I'm only filing current stuff, other wise if I think I need to save it ( which I am getting more and more shredder happy about) it has its own bank box by year. It's breaking the handling more than once rule for a few pieces eventually but at least there's some horizontal surfaces re appearing around here now. Mr. and I had a repeat episode of yesterday's grouse but we're communicating more clearly now. And I am proud to report the car payment was made on time today! I'm picking up the mail again tomorrow and plan to process it all at once as I come in the door.
ya, I also need to get better at completely dealing with it right away. I have really done good at getting it all organized but ... there is a small box I still need to process ... that little box could grow into a mountain in no time.
I am still decluttering, but I have identified the paper magnetics in my home. The first place is the dining table. So, as I eliminate the other piles, I will not added to them by tackling the paper as it comes end. For me that means, opening it, sorting it and throwing/shredding it the day it arrives.
So maybe you have whipped that paper clutter into shape...for now. As Happy_Habit said, paper clutter is like cleaning the kitchen. As soon as you wiped that last dish, it is time to make lunch and do it all over again. It seems neverending.
So what can you do to really keep it at bay?
Here's a challenge to help you keep current with your paper work. This is idea from team member Happy_Habits who challenges us not only to get rid of the excess paper clutter, but to stay reasonably current. This means creating a habit that eliminates the excess paper clutter. And like all habits, repetition is the key.
So this challenge is to stay reasonably current with your paper work though the end of February.
I also all members to share their tips, methods and the like that helps achieve this goal.
As usual, goodies await (along with team support).
