I MUST tell you that I have just taken myself off Plaquenil without my rheumatologist's knowledge. I'll tell him next time I see him in September. He discontinued my Methotrexate due to hair loss, but left me on Plaquenil. Almost exactly 30 days later, I had a sudden outbreak of Psoriasis (confirmed by a dermatology pathology report). I looked up psoriasis on WebMD and it stated that Plaquenil could cause psoriasis. I have never had this condition - ever. Since I have discontinued the Plaquenil, the psoriasis has come to a halt - not progressed - and what had appeared is disappearing! I'm not at all interested in a side effect of psoriasis!!!! Just wanted you to know ...

I only take Ibuprofen & plaquenil. I am not able to take more powerful drugs. Thanks for the replies. Maybe someone else has only taken those and can give me a clue. I did google but I thought I'd go to people who are walking to walk and get their take. Thanks..

Hi Margarette and so sorry that you're experiencing that! Ugh and I know just what you mean. I take 4 Aleve's each day to get through and then Tylenol on the top of that which can help relieve addl. pain on some days, but nothing takes it all away. Are you on Methotrexate, the main one that effects our hair loss? If you are, are you on the prescribed Folic Acid to calm down the nasty effects of MTX? I had been experiencing alot of hair loss after I'd been on 20mg./per week for years and my Dr. had me stop it because of my hair loss and sores and cold sore, etc., after he had checked my blood and I was still toxic 2 weeks after stopping it and another 2 weeks and then I was back down to a normal level, so he put me back on it, but down to 15 mg/week. After having it stopped and started again, my hair has gotten alot fuller once again. You could google it and see if Ibuprofen effects hair loss. Interesting. Hmmm, I hope you get more replies that could really help you!

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

I take 3 800 mg. Ibuprofen for my RA. I have been having heavy hair loss and wondered if anyone had that problem while taking Ibuprofen?
