Gut rehab from the book Protein Power is a liquid diet consisting of Whey protein and L-glutamine. The thinking behind this is that sickness starts in the stomach/GI tract so you give
the gut a rest for a few days so it can start to heal. The authors (both MD's) do not recommend doing this for more than 2-7 days. I tried it for 2 days. My brain fog went away (more of a fibromyalgia symptom) my pain in my feet decreased, but knees hands, wrists, back still hurt. I couldn't do only liquids for more than 2 days. I was extremely worried I was going to trigger a binge with this. I have been drinking 1 or 2 shakes during the day and trying hard to eat healthy and limitting my white suagr/white flour intake to as little as possible.
I feel better mentally, I just wish I had seen some more improvement in my symptoms.

My son has Crohns disease-he has also taken his body from overweight to very muscular &
strong-he uses protein powder.(He also follows a pretty strict diet-things like chicken breast, vegies, fruit, eggs)he has been doing good.I myself, will sometimes make a protein
drink instead of a meal(I am Pescatarian).

Lilac,

I haven't heard of the product. I try to get my protein from my food. There are lots and lots of high protein food sources, so I don't bother with protein supplements. I've heard of people getting into trouble (GI tract) from using protein supplements and I don't need just one more problem on top of everything else!

Good luck with getting your info! Please be careful!

Has anyone tried the "gut rehab" protocol for autoimmune disorders in the book Protein Power or Protein Power Life Plan, by Michael R. Eades, MD and Mary Dan Eades, MD?
If you have tried this I would really appreciate your feed back; positive or negative.
Thanks so much!
