1) While my 10yr old swims with friends, my 6yr old sticks with me in her floaty and plays Fitness Trainer...telling me what to do next. The rule is that she cannot repeat any task and whatever she tells me, I have to do and must do it 25+ times. She goes through a series of drills like: doggy paddle while I count to 100, hold side of pool and kick 50 times, jog the length of the pool 5 times (okay so that's not 25+), etc. She enjoys the thrill of barking commands at Mom!
2) My 10yr old (like me) does not naturally steer toward sports or traditional fitness. Girls on the Run sounded attractive to us both but we didn't have a group near us or at times we could participate. So, we got online at Team In Training and looked at their plans. She started a plan with me that we both enjoy. We use MapMyRun and more recently found MapMyWalk apps...we do a series of intervals - walking, jogging, sprinting, walking, jogging, sprinting...and we also compete a bit (who can get to the next firehydrant first). We track our walk/run, times, distance, etc. and do this about 3x a week...usually between dinner and bedtime.

I made a list of what exercises I am doing today;-) Today I will walk 90 min on treadmill Do 2 Coach Nicole workout videos (I have a playlist for each day of the week on youtube) Do at least 10 pushups Do at least 10 situps
Hello all! Interestingly, I found that my kids are my best motivators. They love to workout with me and I love the quality time it is giving us. We love to dance and watch shows like So You think You can Dance. They are great to get me and my girls, 6 and 3 moving. We are also walking to and from school (1mile) and hopefully this will train us for the upcoming 3k runs/walks in my area.

Wow...I should try and get my four year old to run with me too..I usually leave my kids home with my almost twelve year old when I run since I do one mile loops too, so I am close to home if they call. Today I think I will walk them all to the playground.
Chasing grammie's dog for my 3 year old and fishing for my 11 year old. Lately my kid's have been going on some of my loop walks with me (1.14 miles) and my 3 year old runs my intervals with me on running days!

Lets try and get our kids healthier with us. List a physical activity your kids did today. If you joined them, even better. Today, My 11 year old son shot hockey pucks and did some strength training. My nine year old walked the dog. My four year old ran around the house playing hide and seek.
