That's a great goal BECCAR6... I've caught myself taking another bite before the first was done but hadn't thought to make a concentrated effort to stop... might be a new Spark Goal to consider.... hmmmm. :) Thanks for sharing!

This was a good chapter. I know that at times I have been to withdraw socially- I have one friend that I'm reading the book with. She has a newborn so she is not able to exercise right now, but we're doing a 30 day challenge to cut down on breads, pastas, bakery delights.

Good luck and if you ever need any encouragement I'm here :)

This might sound really stupid, but as I read this chapter, I realized that I have really withdrawn socially as I have gained weight, and don't have any friends that I feel comfortable enough around to feel accountable to them. I think finding friends to help me on the journey is going to be harder than actually eating healthily and exercising.

One of my friends said something that was a real AH-HA for me. One of her goals was to not put another bite of food in her mouth until she finished what she was already eating. I thought it was strange at first until I was eating and her goal came to mind. I was putting more food in my mouth before I even finished chewing. I never realized that I do that but it has really helped me be more conscious of what I am eating.

Determination gives you the resolve to keep going in spite of the roadblocks that lay before you.

Amen. I am glad that Jesus is our leader in this journey to surrender the area of our craving to Him.
May God be the strength of our lives as we take each day one at a time. May our hearts be encouraged that we can win the battle over cravings and may the encouragement and support of others inspire us to keep our eyes on the prize.
May all in the team be blessed abundantly.

I shall take this mountain

My prayer is thus: Lord, help me to be more aware of what I am putting in my mouth. Help me to remember that the sacrifice is worth it in the long run because in time I will feel better, be more energized, but above all bring glory to God.

Love that!!

We have a great leader in this team. Jesus!! We can not fail...We have already Won!!
More of Him....less of me......

I look forward to reading the posts that people place on this sight in reference to each chapter that they are reading in the book.
As I was reading chapter four, what stood out to me was Lysa's saying," Think it over."
I admit this is an area I still struggle with today. I can have the best intentions, but somehow I slip off and eat something that was not on my plan. Thankfully, I have my husband as a voice of reason. He has caught me many times and has helped me to put down certain foods I would have eaten. Sadly, I still mindlessly eat at times. When the desire to eat comes to me, I don't immediately ask myself," Do I really need this, or am I just eating out of emotions."
I agree, accountability is a very important part of success for learning how to live a more healthy life style.
Lysa had shared of how when we determine to get healthy, we will set foods aside, we will make a sacrifice, we will abstain.
So far I have been able to abstain from drinking soda. I am so happy about this because I was drinking way too much soda. I have also cut down on portion sizes and am making sure to eat my veggies and fruits, but I still got to watch the cookies, the candy and the chips.
My prayer is thus: Lord, help me to be more aware of what I am putting in my mouth. Help me to remember that the sacrifice is worth it in the long run because in time I will feel better, be more energized, but above all bring glory to God.

I shall take this mountain

...Eat Before Thinking! Oh, I am always eating before thinking. It's amazing how I can wake up motivated and focused and be derailed by a habit.

"You see, when we determine to get healthy, we will have to give up certain things and change our habits. Doing this can make us feel anxious."

Very anxious. I think my body is allergic to change. Okay, not really, but one reason why I keep watching infomercials about amazing weight loss products is because I'd like to lose the weight without changing anything - and that's not going to happen.

Do you have friends who are also trying to lose weight? Have you shared this book with them?

Last night I was showing my mom this book and trying to express to her how great it was, but I think she just nodded her head and smiled. She's a lot further along on the weight loss - and is in better shape than I am - and she's 20 years older!! So maybe she doesn't need the book as much as I do... but I do want to share this book with other women (or even men) who may need it.

We have this group as an incredible resource - and I know reading the blogs on our team stream that you guys write is always a treat. But the accountablility isn't necessarily built in here - I know that I love posting when things are going great but I tend to stay quiet when I'm struggling.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." Heb 10:24

Keep moving forward!

I'm a new day rising, I'm a brand new sky to hang the stars upon tonight!
