Oooh I'll have to check out the burbon chicken on Sparks.

I made an Indian recipe from SparkRecipes.com this weekend and that's my lunch for today and probably tomorrow, too. :D Palak Paneer.

It's a Creamy Spinach based sauch with tofu. I think I'd like to try it again with an actual MEAT because I think it could use the variety of flavor since the sauce is such a strong flavor... with the tofu it's like THAT flavor + bland. :) ahhahaha. But it was still good.

WOO HOO! I finally made a bento again! LOL! It's nothing spectacular, but it's done :) some rice, sweet italian sausage, peanutbutter crackers, pickles and chicken spring roll.

I forgot to plan for bentos when i went shopping last week..so i've got notations on my shopping list for this week :)

So what are y'all making?

Oooh, I don't even know if I've HEARD of palm oil. Sounds intrigueing!!! And your bento sounds DELICIOUS.

*sigh* dealing with some fraudulent charges on my DH's checkcard and we're trying to wait to go grocery shopping until it's really necessary so my lunch today (NOT A BENTO) is ramen, a Reeses 100 calpack, and a little box of raisins. SAD! hahaha.

I'VE MADE A BENTO!! rofl!! it's been forever. It's mostly fruits & veggies with a chicken spring roll.
it has cantelope, carrots, cucumbers, plums, and grape tomatoes, steamed rice and a side of fat free ranch for my veggies :D

Didn't make bentos last night. Hubby forgot his box at work and i didn't finish my food from yesterday..that always seems the case..so perhaps i should make less food in it? would make sence right? lol.

will try to post tomorrow or later tonight what feast we've made for ouselves. :D

I've got my bento made for tomorrow and my husband made his. we experimented with nori paper tonight and all i can say is wow! that stuff is so cool!! *giggle*

Ok as soon as i can find my cord for my camera i'll post to the flikr group.

My lunch box tomorrow is honey mustard baked chicken breast on a bed of white rice, and raspberries & blueberries on rice and then some mozzerella cheese balls on the other end on rice. i've been trying to remember not to put much in the boxes because i don't eat it all! imagine that! anyway..

my husband's box is 5 nori wraps i think 2 are with tuna (cooked) and the other 3 are roasted garlic cloves and water chestnuts (crunchies hahaha), tuna in oliveoil over a bed of rice and some cheese balls as well along with some stuffed grape leaves. for dessert he took some girl scout cookies :)

i do have to say though, that my bento looks rather patriotic. lol. red white and blue lol!

YAY I MADE A BENTO TODAY!!! FINALLY! hahaha

It's cute. Go to the Flickr Group.

Ok not all of it is cute... but one thing I made.

I took Wheat Bread... mashed it down and decrusted.
Spread a TBSP of Peanut butter put strawberry slices, drizzled honey over that, other piece of bread, cut in half, and VOILA!

Also in lunch -- more strawberries, baby carrots, laughing cow cheese wedge, almonds, sugar free jello pudding. Have some salad at work I will also have a bowl of.

Totals: 563 cal/30 fat/66 carb/26 protein

My bento today is..

chicken and cheese sandwich with alfalfa sprouts on an onion bagel, spinach artichoke dip (top tier)
3 rice balls with ice burg lettuce wrapped around it, grape tomatoes, cherries, baby carrots, hard boiled egg, and a chicken spring roll..with some more rice thrown in on some iceburg lettuce ^^

I got my bento box from J-list. It's so cute. I've already prepared my bento for tomorrow. Brown rice and pinto beans in the bottom compartment. Half a chicken patty, tomatoes and strawberries in the top compartment. I will read up the flicker thread so I can start posting pictures.

Also, I picked up some sushi rice and a sushi rolling mat today. I'll start with a basic rice and chicken sushi roll.

I ended up going to Roly Poly the other day. Dunno if anyone's ever heard of them but they make awwwesoome sandwich wraps. And have nutrition facts on the wall. yay! :) But anyway...

mmm your bento sounds delicious even if your rice fell apart. I've never attempted using brown rice for stuff like that so I don't have any good tips in that regard.

No bento today because I'm only working a half day and not eating lunch at work. But I am going shopping today for food and hope to have something to show for tomorrow!

My bento today consist of brown rice, avocado, ham and tomatoes. No pictures though...

I tried using my rice molds, but the rice wasn't sticky enough. I put rice on the mold, then some ham, then more rice. So it was going to be really cute and good. The rice kept the shape for about 5 minutes, but then they broke :( .

Visit the Flickr Group for pictures and let me know what you think! I went with ORANGE for today (for the Bento Challenge this week being COLOR). It looks pretty orange right? I have some grapes in there, but I cut a little orange pepper star to decorate them. hehe!

But here's everything in it:

Bottom Tier:

25 grapes with orange pepper decoration
4 little sandwich rolls:
Whole Wheat Bread
Laughing Cow Cheese Spreadable Wedge Spread onto it, French Onion Flavor
Slice of Tomato
Little strips of orange sweet pepper
Decorated with Rice Crackers
Dove Dark Chocolate Piece.

Top Tier:
Baby Carrots
Pretzel Sticks Beneath Rice Crackers

Not inside bento (in bag): Dannon Light N Fit PEACH.

Totals: 517 cal/8 fat/94 carb/29 protein

:D Look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Also my divider is orange. haha. I only hope the bread in the sandwich thingies doesn't get too soggy. Never tried those before so I have noooo idea how they'll turn out. However, I did have to nibble the bottoms to make them fit in the box and they tasted amazing. haha :D

i miss my bento lunches already! i've not had one in a few days..just well not feeling up to par.. been having alot of fights and my body is so stressed out that i can't eat even if i wanted too cuz then i feel even sicker.. ick!
any who..if i did have a bento it'd consist of rice balls, apple slices, baby carrots, zuccini slices and perhaps some chicken and a chicken spring roll.

...I'm w/o a cell fone currently which means I have no camera... (i really need to get a new cord my dig. video camera esp since it takes stills) anyway-ness
the bento of which I will be eating after my workout is:

-2 flower shaped onigiri (plain rice w/ a pickled plum in the middle)
- mandarin oranges
- edamame
- 'crab' sticks

... I wish i had a triangle mold. I use the plastic wrap method. I'd buy one but for some reason all the ones in my town are the old skool wooden ones, and I'm afraid I couldn't take care of it well.

It's not in my bento because we were in such a rush this morning! I usually don't go to the gym on Fridays, but DH and I made it in this morning. :D But I had to take things that didn't need to be refridgerated for one thing, plus it was soooo earrrllyy to wake up.

WORD! Maybe you could even use the corner of the ziploc baggie (if you didn't use them like gloves) to kinda make it a triangle if you want... ? I dunno if that would work, but the thought just occurred to me so I figured I'd throw it out there! hahaha

i simply tried having salt on my hands..but i think i like the plastic wrap idea better ^^. i think what i could do is use sandwich baggies as gloves and do it that way :) make use of what you got i say ;)

Well, I have a mold, that's why mine are so perfectly shaped! It also helps me get them squished nice and tight when it's really hot without the rice sticking to my hands or burning me. hahaha

So I highly recommedn a mold! :D I've heard that using water/saltwater on your hands helps, and/or using saran wrap to mold the shape if you haven't tried that yet. :D YAY for trying something new! That's GREAT!

LOL! I just bought some short grain rice last night. i rinsed it once, but i'll try rinsing it 2-3 times.. it was still a bit hot when doing it..but it was sticking to me horribly making it hard to form the disks.. yeah.. i tried the triangles..and well they ended up more like balls lmao! but i don't have any seaweed paper so it's just rice for now. i may start munching on it soon..i'm finally gettin hungry.

OH! and 100Mil -- have you had problems with your rice sticking together before? My rice sticking tips that have worked for me are -- use short grain rice, rinse before cooking (2-3 times), and form when still hot, barely cool enough to handle.

JUST IN CASE. And if you already know all that, maybe it'll help someone else. :D YAY! I'm so happy ya'll are sharing your bentos now!

Today's bento is unphotographed, due to the blasphemy. haha

We went to Taco Bell last night, I ordered one too many items and had to save it for today, so voila, LUNCH! I couldn't think of a good way to make it pretty, so I just shoved it in the top tier wrapper and all. (That's a Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco)

The bottom tier was kinda cute so I'm sad I didn't picture it.
It has baby carrots surrounding a little circle of blueberries. I was thinking, do I have any itty bitty cups that I can use... and I thought -- MEDICINE CUPS! Like to divvy up liquid meds? hahaha anyway. I put blueberries in that, and surrounded it with baby carrots. It looks kinda cool. And also Almonds and a Laughing Cow Cheese,

Dannon Light N Fit in the bag.

Totals: 564 cal/32 fat/47 carbs/28 protein

So an ok bento I think! :D

today's bento is still sitting next to me untouched.. not really a good thing ..but i'm just not hungry.. i've not really had much to eat today either.

But it's filled with broken riceballs..(they didn't hold)grape tomatoes, baby carrots, zuccini slices, and some chicken stirfry..oh and a helping of bread and butter pickles. dessert was a jumbo chocolate chip cookie and i have ranch dressing for my veggies to dip in.

My first attempt to anything that resembles a bento. I have white rice with a hard boiled egg and 1/2 tomato. I try to make it cute. I need to start taking pictures, hehe. I have a cup of fresh pineapples too.

TODAY'S BENTO... not cute. In arush -- no pictures. But here's what's in it -- similar to yesterday.

Top Tier- Tuna+SoySauce Filled Onigiri (Brought yasai fumi furikake today because I didn't bring any nori for it last time and it was kinda dullll)
1/2 cup strawberries, 6 blueberries

Bottom Tier- Pretzel Sticks, Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge (French Onion Flavor)
Hard Boiled Egg

Outside box in bag -- Prepackaged 3oz Baby Carrots, Sugar Free Double Chocolate Jello Pudding.

Totals: 477 cal/83 carb/9 fat/21 protein

And I didn't have time to eat breakfast..... SOOOOOO

I am going to have to PIG OUT tonight. Maybe. We'll see... but I need protein, need fat, need carbs, need everything!!!!!

The fat is from the almonds, so I'm ok with that. :D YAY!
