Thanks for updating your entry and renewing it for another year :-)

Yes, your data expired on 8/12 which is when you moved from the "active" list to the "archived" list.

I send out a notice at the beginning of each month that goes to everyone whose data are about to expire and everyone whose data have already expired. The message you should have gotten was on 8/6 and now I'm wondering if Spark Mail failed, since your ID is among the recipients and yet it sounds like you didn't know your entry was going out of date or why it had been moved to the "archived" list.

Here is what the messages currently look like (I tweak them periodically)

P.S. If you are struggling, please dont disappear! Many scientific papers by the National Weight Control Registry consider maintenance successful even if you keep only 10% of your original weight off. You might be successfully maintaining by this definition and not even realize it!

Their data also say that successful maintainers usually report several attempts at loss and maintenance before finally getting it right. So the struggle is worth it - you CAN get better at this We have a whole section with resources about that in the Big Page of Links titled, When you stumble: tinyurl.com/maintenance-links

We all have setbacks. I know personally how painful that can be - in my 20s I lost 100+ lbs then gained it all back plus almost 100 more. You CAN recover lost ground, get it all back off again, and keep it off. It just takes sticking with the program and working on on figuring out how to creatively maintain.

So if youre in that boat, please dont give up like I did in my 20s and 30s - stick with it and let us on the team know how we can help - someone who helps you today might need YOUR help in the future!

My recommendation would be to update your maintenance information for where you are currently at, now, and once you get back to your happy range, just update again with the new numbers. (You can always update, anytime. When I see a duplicate entry I delete the older one.)

It can be really inspirational for others to see that youre still in the game and working at it, especially if you arent perfect. After all, who is???

Congrats on your maintenance and glad youve joined the team!

Thanks for the feedback on the maintenance tables and graphs. Youve experienced glitches related to a few different causes.

1) Thanks for pointing out that the welcome email points to the old entry form. When I upgraded the maintenance anniversaries list to the new Google Forms I had to go around and change the link everywhere that it appeared. That was one Id missed. Ive fixed it now.

2) Google Docs seem to slow down especially after 1-2pm Eastern time on weekdays. I suspect thats when California is up and running and putting demands on their servers. Some of the charts have a lot of data in them and just plain take a long time to load anyway.

3) Google Spreadsheets seem to get stuck sometimes and not reload unless I twiddle them in odd ways. Ive seen complaints from others about this on the internet, so Im not the only one who has noticed. Its always worth posting to the thread if youre having problems viewing one of the graphs or tables - I can try twiddling the spreadsheet to force it to reload.

Until I find a better free option, I am grudgingly tolerating the second and third issues above. Considering its put together for free (I built and manage it in my spare time), it actually functions pretty well - when its functioning at all. As far as I know its the only resource like this out there anywhere for free in the internet. I dont know of anywhere else that has a list of 200+ active maintainers with a way to actually communicate with them if you want to ask more about how they manage.

Thanks again for communicating about this. If you have any ideas of resources youd like to build or manage, or challenges youd like to run, we can always use more ways to keep folks engaged.

On the body fat, my scales gives it, but it is different in the morning from the night so I'm never sure which is right. I think I still have the 'manual' it came with and I've been intending to research it, but just never got around to it. Guess this is a reason to do that!!

Okay, I updated mine. Screwed up on my anniversary *day*, though, as I couldn't quite remember it, so I said the 20th. Yet, after checking back, it was the 15th, instead. Is that fixable or should I do back and reload ALL the info over again?

BMI is calculated from the height and weight, so you don't have to put it in separately.

I just recently added all these other data fields people can put in if they are interested. That was the point of starting this thread, to let people know, in case they wanted to enter additional new data. :-)

(Or the tabs at the bottom of the page, when you're viewing one of the charts or tables.)
All of the links work in Google Chrome for me. Perhaps you need to refresh the page in your browser or clear the cache?

I totally understand about the % body fat fluctuations! I use a weighted moving average of them, myself. :-)

You can go back and redo your data anytime. Just use that same form.

In the meantime, here's a frequency distribution of the BMI numbers that have been reported so far:

And for the record, my personal opinion about BMI is that as long as it's under 30, you're good to go. Below 30 I like to focus on strength and % body fat (to the extent that it can be estimated, anyway).

Just started tracking on my body fat scale, but the darn thing is so inaccurate/ups and downs, that I want to kind of average it out a bit before I enter one. I decided I wanted to start tracking it once a week, but only in the last few days have I started measuring. Need to do more research on the female cycle and fat scale stuff, to at least know what the trends/ups and downs will be.
