Is anyone interested in finishing this out? I gained about 12lbs from June to Dec just before and after my surgery so am re-losing those 12lbs. So since the last post in January I'm down drum roll please!! 8lbs two more to go for the 10 week challenge!

WooHoo! Great News!!

I got on the scale this past Sunday and I am up in weight by a couple of pounds. I really think it is stress, because I've gained it since I started school one month ago. All I have wanted to do is eat, especially after I get home from work at 11pm. It is a BAD habit!! I really need to get back on track and it has been tough. I really need to get back to walking too. That makes a big difference.

So lets get back at it!!

So, I decided to go back on Nutrisystem for a couple of months to help get my appetite and my portion control back in check...

And after only 1 week on NS, I've lost 7.9 lbs.! WooHoo!!! BACK ON TRACK... FINALLY!!!

Well... I finally bit the bullet & stepped on the scale... OMG!!! That's all I've got to say... well, not really, but the only thing that I can put in print on here!

I've managed to gain back over half of what I've lost since I've started my journey... and in fact, I currently weigh more now than I did when I started SP almost 3 yrs ago!

Definitely time to buckle down & get serious... because I refuse to go back to where I used to be!

I'm still the same this week. I have got to get serious about losing the weight and exercising. I went to my doctor on Friday to go over some test that another doctor wanted me to have done because of my eye issues. I'm having flashes/vitreous detachment and another eye issue that seemed to have taken care of itself. My blood pressure was way up, but I was also nervous, because I haven't done the tests yet and didn't know what to expect. Most of the test are the usual bloodwork, cholesterol, sugar, anemia/iron. In general, I haven't been feeling good for a couple of months, but lately really tired. I decided it was probably my iron was low, so I started back taking iron pills. When the doctor saw my BP, she was concerned, but she knew I was nervous/anxious. However, she told me to come back in 2 weeks to get it taken again just to make sure. My mom gave me my dad's old bp cuff, so I don't know how accurate it is, but I took my bp this morning and it still was up. This may be why I am feeling crappy. It wouldn't surprise me if my bp and sugars are up, because heart disease and diabetes runs in my family.

Well it is August 1st and still have not lost that 10 lbs. Trying it again. I have a feeling I will be more busy for the next couple of months with going back to school and having other things on my mind than what I am going to be eating. Of couse, I should be thinking of healthy things to eat, right!!

Congrats on those who have lost, I have stayed the same. Life has been so hectic here and hubby is slowing down a whole lot. I know I haven't weighed myself the last couple of weeks and the weight went up. Since I've been having an eye issue, which could be a circulatory probably, the eye doctor requested that I have a few test done. He sent a letter to my family doc to check me for anemia, which my iron was low before, cholesterol which has been high, and a doppler done on my carotid ateries to make sure they aren't blocked. Well this news just scared me into motion to get my diet back on track.

So a week ago I did my grocery shopping, buying all healthy foods...fruits, veggies, grains, and nuts. I didn't buy any meat, except for Johnsonville Chili Cheese brauts. I had been looking for them, because they sounded good. I had them last summer. I hadn't been able to find them at the usual grocery store I go to, but found them at a different one. I had one last night, which is pretty good because I could have fixed two or had one each day of the week!! I have cut back on the amount of food I have been eating as well. Usually my portions are a lot bigger or have 2 helpings. I haven't tracked the food on Spark, but have kept a notebook of what I have eating. I am trying new foods as well, like quinoa. It isn't too bad. I fixed it and added some fruit and nuts to make a porridge. It filled me up and gave me energy. I did however on a couple of days have McDonalds or Wendys. That was only because I have been running around all week and didn't have time to fix lunch before I went to work...poor excuse!

So with the changes I have made this past week, did show that I could do this and it showed me that I have lost a few pounds...I am down 3!

I don't have kids so I can't really imagine what that feels like when a child moves away. I remember I was younger when my oldest sister and her husband moved from the States to Africa to be missionaries. I was upset about that, because I would see them for several years (turned out to be 5 yrs).

I can understand the overeating. I eat at work, taking extra "snacks" with me to munch on while I am bored. Then I get home and eat something else to "relax". I should already be relaxed, since I have a boring job!! When I do eat, it always isn't the best choice either. I need to make better choices, because I am also supposed to be lowering my cholesterol.

We will get there!!!

I'm back to a horrible weight... I've literally put back on over 30 lbs... and 15 of it is just this month...

I've come to the realization that instead of "dealing" w/ my son moving 22 hrs away from KS to FL, instead I've been using food to "soothe" me... returning to some of my old eating habits...

I've also come to another realization... I'm not just dealing w/ a weight issue here... I'm also dealing w/ a food issue, as in a compulsive overeating issue. So, I've been doing some looking into OA to see if that may help me to get a little better control of everything.

But anyway...

I didn't weigh myself this morning, just forgot as I was getting ready to leave to take a long walk at the park. It was probably about 2 miles and even got my feet wet in about 5 inches of water in one section. I had no choice but to go through it. It was part of the butterfly monitoring I am doing and it goes through this area that is pretty much dry except for this wet spring we've had. I wasn't feeling to good when I was going through it because of the heat. It was hot today and wearing long pants didn't help. I was getting to a bench before I passed out. I felt much better after sitting down and taking a good sip of water. Maybe I sweated some of the fat off the last two days. I worked in my yard yesterday and I was exhausted last night.

Will weigh in tomorrow! Bev I hear you about the cost of food. I am on a limited budget as well and I have been trying to stay away from the processed foods as much as I can. I've bought frozen veggies instead of canned, because I think you get a little more for your dollar in my opinion. Keep walking, but I understand using something to walk with.

Bev, hugs. emoticon Please try to fit more than one short walking session in every day, it's not good to hear that you are having to resort to your walker again. Don't give up on the food side either, you can still eat well on a very limited budget- you just have to be organized and cook creatively. I feel for you...MJ

I am really going to try, I have gained everything back that I lost 5 years ago. It's just so hard with being a caregiver to my hubby and the grocery prices. I did get about a 1/2 mile walk in today. I took my walker out that I haven't used since my hip surgery. That helped my back. It is easier to walk holding on to something.

LOL, time flies when we are having fun- 10 weeks, OMG! I washed and ironed my summer pants and shorts today- they had better fit. 4 weeks and I fly south to Kentucky to help my daughter move back to Canada, I want to look like one hot momma :-). We have finally had two days of sun and warmth here, the black flies are out and my garden is bursting.
Let's go for the next 10 weeks- yeah!

Okay people, our 10 weeks are up! On to the next 10!!

I know I haven't worked at this and it is reflected on the scale. I stepped on this morning and was shocked to see where it stopped. Need to re-evaluate what I am doing wrong, which is everything....not eating properly, not exercising, just sitting on my butt!! I will be weighing in on Sunday!

Hate to say it, but i am going to make some brownies. I have to have something chocolate everyday. Bad habit!!

I know it is tough having a limit income (have to pay the bills) to buy decent food. I used to by the frozen meals, but they come with so much sodium, which has caused me to cut back quite a bit. Besides I am tired of microwaved food for dinner at work. I wanted some nice glass microvable dishes so I could make fresh foods to take to work so I wouldn't have to cook stuff in plastic all the time, so I got some as a Christmas present. Since I am single it is also hard to make small sized meals and yes I will freeze leftovers for later if I make a bigger meal, especially like soup or chili.

I know I have bought produce and then see it all go to waste if I don't eat it. I've learned to just buy enough so that I won't do that. I am not big on salads either, but will eat more of them during the summer months.

Hi all,

I am glad I am not alone with this problem of up and down. I just can't seem to get on program. Groceries are so expensive and I am trying to make healthy meals, but don't seem to have any will power. It's finally getting a little warmer so maybe I can start walking. It has rained all day and the snow is really going, so all sidewalks should be cleared off. Now if only the sun would come out. I have gained back almost all of the 40 lbs I lost a few years ago. I hate salads with a passion and throw out more lettuce than we use. I am so trying to find something to replace that with. I can't afford to pay almost $3.00 for a head of cauliflower. Bread is now almost 2.98 here. I have been buying the Banquet dinners for 94 cents and they are good, but a little too much salt. Most are about 300 calories more or less. Oh well, enough of this. I have to get with it.

MOLLIE - I sure hope returning to work doesn't do me in either! I'm hoping that since they've been so cautious w/ everything and kept me on the crutches for an extra 2 weeks, and now keeping me off work for an extra month... that it will keep me from having major issues when I do return!

WTG Kim!!! I have no idea where the scale will go in the morning but after 3 hour+ snow shoveling sessions this week either I have lost weight or gained a lot of muscle-either way I feel good.

Hello!
I'm new and would like to join a wee bit late.

I met with the surgeon on 12/20 and was informed I needed to get under 300 to be a surgical candidate. I was at 330-335 that day.

I'm currently at 320. The initial rapid 10 lb loss was fun, but from here on out I'll be very happy with 1-2 lbs. a week since that will get me a new hip in June or July. (That is co-incidentally when I have maximum leave from work built up and my sister in law can come keep me company.)

So, that's my introduction and count me in!

I can't wait to get started! I feel like I have been a total pig the last couple of days. I think because it is that wonderful TOM! Happy New Year to me!! LOL! The scale slowly crept up, so part of it I sure is water weight. Tonight probably won't be much better with snack type foods and drinks!

Besides eating better, I need to start back at drinking water and exercising. I don't get paid until next week, so I can't do my grocery shopping until then, to buy healthier stuff. I want to try and start exercising first thing in the morning instead of watching Regis and Kelly. I was exercising in the evening, which was fine, but I want to change my schedule a bit.

I'm IN for this! I found the courage to step on the scale yesterday (Monday) and sure enough, the scale confirmed that I have been eating like a piggy since Thanksgiving. (I was hoping it was one of the scary Christmas nightmares like Scrooge had, lol, but it's REAL.)

So, I'll be back this Friday, and every Friday for 10 weeks, to report my losses. (I'm so optimistic, lol.)
