You can get etools on your Ipad, but it won't scan........ As far as the Smart Phones,If I can figure it out, anyone can. also my husband did so if a guy sticks with it, it is fun.

Thank you for your detailed and enthusiastic post.
I can see how the scanner can work well eating out and shopping.
Unfortunately I do not have a smart phone. I'm almost at zero knowledge when it comes to computers, I -phones and smart phones. I do have an apple I pad 2 and I wonder if I could use that for scanning, etc......
The bottom line is that both at Etools and Spark People I still have to put in each ingredient with the portion control.
I would like to have a smart phone with a tiny smart person living in it, who can calculate for me the points with full nutrition information just by scanning the recipes, so I do not have to put in any information at all.............

Thank you again for all the great information.

Mimi, with the Recipe Builder that you use on your computer online, you put in the amounts of each individual ingredient that the recipe calls for. There is a search there that you can find most anything, then after entering all the ingredients, you put in the number of servings. It then breaks it down per serving. For instance if that recipe called for 10 servings instead of 12, it would adjust the points accordingly.

If you have a smart phone, you get the WW bar code scanner app. For instance if you are shopping in the groc store, you can scan the bar code and this app gives you the PP+ amount for 1 serving.... Or anything you have already purchased at home. If you want to track it for your meal, you simply touch the screen and it will ask you if you want to track it, and it will put it in for your Breakfast/Midday/or Dinner.........right into your tracker. And anything that you have scanned before whether you used it immediately or not is still there and you can simply touch it and do the same thing. It is wonderful to use when shopping as well as using when you are eating out. (There are a few products that aren't programed in the scanner but most products are..... and if they aren't, then you can use the calculator that is on the app!!) When You get home and look at your WW Etools on your computer, it is there!! WaLa I am sold on this.. as you can see. emoticon
There is another app, also that I use, it opens into the etool tracker immediatly and looks just like the one on your computer......... I use them all the time..
Today I was so hungry after my WW meeting and I went into subway.. I opened up my WW tracker on my smart phone, and wrote Subway and hit search. I then found what I was eating and it put it right into my tracker....... All my favorites and recently eaten also show up, so it is so easy to find everything.......

Thank you for the good information.
When you enter a new recipe, do you have to put it individual ingredient with its portion size?

I'm waiting for technology that I can scan a recipe, feed it to Etools and in one second it will give me the number of servings, PointsPlus per serving, and full nutrition information (Sodium and Cholesterol in particular)
Can Etool do it now?

There are so many helps when you have e tools. It is easy to track online with the tracker, and if you have a smart phone, you can get a barcode scanner that gives you the WW pp+ per serving. Once that is done you have the option to have it go into your tracker directly from your phone or save it there for future use. Then there is the app for tracking your food, and tracking your fitness. I use it all the time, both online, and on my phone. It is better than SP app.

The online on my computer has extra perks such as the recipe builder, etc.

This is a great incentive for me to stay at or under goal, so I can get etools free!

The requirement for free Lifetime members, is to be no more than 2# above your goal. No charge.

Thank you, Wendy I'll add the points to the recipe.

Did you know that as a lifetime WW member AT GOAL, you get Etools for FREE.
Once a month your weight determined if you continue to have it free. (More than 2 pounds above goal, and more than 2 pounds below goal???, fees are applied on the credit card.
I didn't sign up yet, because I'm not sure that it is easier to get the points for recipes on Etools, or on SparkPeople (Carbs, fat, protein and fiber). I have the new calculator at home.
Because I do not count points at all, to me it doesn't matter, but all other members will appreciate a lot having the PointsPlus in the recipes.
The only time I can get the PP is if I'll use a WW cookbooks, but I love my own collection of cookbooks better.
