I think that is a emoticon thing to do. I prevents the feelings of deprivation and the old "diet" mentality from settling in.
I have always liked your mantra, and often use it in some for either consciously or at an unconscious level throughout many a passing day. emoticon

One slice of pizza has less calories than two. What a great sentence! I'll remember it next time I have cravings for cream puffs with real whipped cream...... emoticon
I don't have a sweet tooth, but when I see those cream puffs, it reminds me of my childhood.
If I have ONE now, we share it between 4-6 people.
Teresa, you have many great tactics to fight cravings.
I have to admit that every 3-4 months, I throw all my knowledge through the window, and I just eat what I want and no portion control police is aloud!!!!
May be this is the reason I'm still maintaining my weight loss over 8 1/2 years.

One of my favorie mantras is:
Persistence! Not Perfection!

Agree with Hungrywoman2. Sometimes gum works and drinking flavor water. Love pizza. That is a downfall for me but I do limit myself.

I practice a three prong-attack. First I try distraction, next I will hydrate with water or an herbal tea, and exercise, I must not forget, so that is four. If none of those work,and I still am of the mind to eat, I eat something which is portion-controlled and fits into my plan. ( Even if it is a bit of a stretch, as Indy has put it "one slice of pizza has fewer calories than two.". Flat out denial always makes me want it that much more.
